The concept of beauty among present day women is closely connected to wearing high heeled footwear. The world fashion scene demands it fully and supports it. But modern findings point to the drawbacks and possible ill effects of wearing high heeled footwear. The wearing of high heeled footwear by young ladies might result in the onset of foot related diseases in their later years of life. Many studies point to this fact and findings are awe inspiring.

I have been wearing high heels since i started working in the 80's.
But since lately, i have some pains in my knees whenever i alight the car, i decided to buy low heeled sandals. Though, i don't ever want to wear so flat sandals, because i trip more often with them.

My health matters most.
One can still look professional even if he/she is wearing a non-high heeled shoes, as long as he wears the right clothes for the office.

Yes, I think we in the west have a fine lot of nerve criticizing the past practices of foot binding in ancient countries elsewhere, while at the same time putting extreme pressure on our own women to wear pointy-toed shoes with high heels. Well, I have worn them at various times in the past when work situations required it, but not any more, at least not more than once a year...
I do see a lot of women my age and older still wearing them, though. They sure can cause a lot of health problems!

A lot of research have been conducted on the possible health problems associated with the use of high heeled fashion footwear. It is time that we learn and react to the findings which are apt to encourage healthy habits and comfortable living free from illnesses.

I admit I've put my feet through a fair amount of punishment over the years. Massive platforms in the 70's, skyscraper heels in the 80's and 90's .... I've calmed down a bit and wear flats more often now, especially for work, but I still do like my heels for going out in the evening. But it does damage your feet - my feet are pretty unattractive now, with lumps and bumps all over them. There's a lot to be said for sensible shoes.

I started using high when I'm still young in High school when I'm dancing. And up to now specially on special occasion. But of course when we getting older sometimes it is hard used high heeled there are times that my feet are swelling and have pains.

I do know that the majority of ladies that are my age wear high-heeled shoes on a regular basis. However, I've been the lady that will very rarely wear shoes that have high heels on them. The main reason that I don't wear high-heeled shoes is because of the fact that I did suffer a serious ankle injury when I was a child. However, in addition to that, I don't think that wearing high-heeled shoes allows a woman to have proper circulation in their feet.

High heels may look great, and they may look pretty, but they are a great way for many women to get injured and wreak up their feet. Look at Kelly Ripa. She injured herself because she wore heels. Was it worth it?
I have messed up my left foot because of the several times that I wore heels.

Fashion is number one enemy for women. Not only is footwear against health, but many vclothes too. Still we fall pray to it. I remember when my doctor prohibited me to wear highheeled shoes after my back surgery: I felt ugly. Even now, I only like my feet in Summer because I can buy beautiful sandals with no heels. We should do something about it.

The research have been there for a long time but it is very hard to convince some women otherwise. Hope it is not too late. I too enjoy wearing high heeled shoes unless when I am taking a walk.
