Hello Mylotter friends!!!
I am a proud mother and teacher to my two children. (Ages 5 and 7)
My kids are home schooled and also enrolled in an online school at no cost! The school sends us big boxes of school materials and school supplies too at no cost!
I like the freedom to be able to teach my kids from home. We can start the day at 7am, or if we have a doctor's appointment, we can then start the day as soon as we are home, (usually around 10am.) I chose this for my kids, because I am also a full time college student, and it works well in our daily routines.
The teachers are able to help more one-on-one and are such nice people to communicate with. the school also provides the option to go on field trips almost every month if you choose to attend. They have questions to answer every day, a lesson plan to go by, and assingments that are due. Plus, they have art projects and PE assignments. I also like that I can add in my own lessons and experiments. My son loves science experiments and art. My daughter loves spellng and reading. They both do very well.
My daughter is only 5 and she is on a 3rd grade level, as my son is 7 and on a 4th grade level. They have yearly testing by the teachers to see where they place. I feel that by engaging and teaching my children, it gives them a better education. I do not have to worry about bullying at school, if they are not understandng the lesson, or if they are getting enough of a one-on-one experience and it allows me so much more time with my kids! I love online school and they do too!
My kids have a lot of friends to play with on the weekends. So, it's not like they don't get to socialize with other children. We are a very outgoing family. My husband teaches them science and history. I teach them math, reading, spelling, geography, art, spanish, french, and they also have P.E grids to follow too. This allows them to get plenty of exercise and have fun. There are other subjects we cover as well. We even have an extra room set up just like a real class room and this provides them the experience of a real school. They even have thier own bathroom passes and have to raise their hands to ask questions. This teaches them respect and to take turns.
I wonder how many other parents have thought about online schooling and how many people are not even aware that it exists! My opinion is that, if you are a stay at home mother or father, and you have the time to dedicate to your children, then it's a wonderful experience and it truely pays off! I love educating my kids!

Sounds like a great idea! Especially since you say they get the education at no cost. Schools can have considerable fees in today's time.
I'm glad your kids have a lot of friends to play with, because that was the only possible objection to getting education at home; learning to interact with other living beings.

Hello Lorden,
Thanks for your positive view on this topic! Yes, at no cost and it's great because some people cannot afford the supplies. My favorite part is being able to watch my children grow. And I love being their teacher and witnessing their hard work. I am very over protective. In today's society, we must be. The year before last my son was bullied at school. I brought it to the teacher's attention, I emailed her and paid a visit to her at the school. You see, she was an outstanding teacher amoung the rest of the other staff! She stopped the bullying! She had a meeting with the other child's parents and after that, the student was decent to my son. My son is not a rough boy. He doesn't rough house, not at school anyway. I was very impressed by the way his teacher stood up for him.
But, the following school year, I pulled him out of public school because I was not at all impressed with his new teacher. She was not spending enough time with him. She was not realizing that his only problem was his shyness. She did not meet my standards of what an outstanding teacher is all about! I will give nothing but the best to my children when it comes to their education! Thanks for taking time to read this. Have a great weekend!

Sure, I would love to educate my kids, of course. But in my opinion, I think online school or home school is not really a good way to educate my children. I think they should get lots of interaction with another people. Of course, we should guide them while they're interacting each other.
I think our environment here is not really bad for education, so I don't really need to keep them on home in the most time..
