Elance is a lot like odesk. I know it's legit but like odesk the competition is very stiff. You bid for a job post and wait for the employer to contact you. Some requires interviews, some tests, depends on the employer. I was able to get a few contracts here but all of them for a limited time only. I have yet to get a job that's long term and full time. If you're planning to try it out, just make sure that your cover letter/application letter is catchy, learn how to sell your skills. Oh and by the way, work on your profile page too, and take some tests that are available on the site so you can show your proficiency and skills.

Elance is a very reputable freelance jobs program. It very much depends on your skills as to how useful it will be to you. Last year, the most in-demand skills were PHP programming, WordPress programming, article writing, graphic design, and HTML programming. Like most such sites, your profile has a rating showing how good a worker you are and employers, naturally, will take notice of this. Building up a good reputation is vital in this sort of site, so you should approach working for them with a proper professional attitude and make sure that the jobs you do are fully achievable and completed on time with due diligence.

Well a friend of mine told me about this.It is like Odesk wherein you apply for some jobs like data entry, web research, SEO and other works that the employer required to do.She said that it do pay but she concentrated more in ODesk.
