Shared my shower with a snake

I got a last minute appointment with the physio earlier so I ran out to the waterfall to have a quick shower before I went. I bent down to wash my legs and there was a beautiful little snake in the water just by my feet. He was really lovely, and the markings on his back were sparkling as the sun was shining on the water. He didn't hang around for long, the next time I looked he'd moved on. I guess he didn't like the smell of my soap (even though it was eco friendly!). Who have you shared your shower with recently? Do you ever have a shower outdoors?

I love how you calmly tell us you showered with a snake! If I saw a snake in my shower, I would be moving! So my answer is no, I have never showered outside.I never will I'm city folk, lol!

I'm the opposite. I love spiders. They are weavers. But snakes I don't like.

I've loved snakes since i was a child and was allowed to hold a huge giant python or something in a show. It felt all smooth and not at all as I expected. I find them fascinating and feel it's a privilege to see something so shy.

It was harmless, honest! And I'm sure it was more wary of me than the other way around. I don't mind snakes at all, but spiders give me the creeps.

Other than my partner, no lol I have not shared my shower with anything. THANKFULLY! I quite frankly, would die, if there was any other being, other than human, in my water with me lol! and That's not me being posh or up myself, thats me being me lol.. I simply loathe anything like that being near me lol! I touched a tarantula last year and it was the single worst experience of my life lol! And no, I can't even manage to pee outside if we are on a roadtrip.. I will hold it until I find a toilet lol. So I couldn't shower outside lol!

You'd not survive two minutes here ;-) Our toilet is a dry one, so no peeing in it. A friend's girlfriend won't go in the bushes either. She stands there getting increasingly uncomfortable and he thinks she's being stupid so he refuses to leave. I reckon one day he'll get his come uppance coz she'll burst in his car as they go over a bump on the driveway!

I've got the solution for you. Stay pi$$ed A dry toilet is just what it sounds like. A toilet, that is dry! It's for erm ... 'solids' only and you use sawdust over your 'offering' which prevents it from smelling bad and helps to make spectacular compost.
13 Jun 12
I'd love to try though! I reckon if I lived with you for a few weeks, it would change my outlook a lot. I mean I'd be glad to get back to my luxeries, like a working toilet haha, but I reckon I'd be able to pee outside without thinking twice maybe haha!! I just can't go.. it's like stage fright. I mean I've pee'd outside when I've been drunk.. but when I'm sober, I just can't seem to manage it. And the last time I pee'd outside, a month or so ago on a roadtrip [when I'd already managed to find 4 toilets that trip, and this was an emergency] I ended up pee-ing on my own foot! lol! What do you mean a dry toilet? lmao!

Haven't showered outdoors for a long time! There's no place around here to do that, although I've thought of creating a solar shower in the back yard. They'd probably call the police on me, though. The only thing I've shared a shower with recently was a little spider and he didn't stick around long.

Yikes! I would have freaked and ran away screaming!! I haven't ever showered outdoors.. and haven't bathed outdoors since I was a kid and we went camping where I'd have to bathe in a lake. Think I'd love to shower in a waterfall though.. it sounds so peaceful! Do you always shower outdoors?

I haven't even got running water in my house, let alone a shower, so I have no choice!

One of the places I used to camp, there was a house with running water, we could do dishes, and there was a shower, but they still told me I had to bathe in the lake. Only the elderly guests showered in the house. Not sure why..

If people were to shower outdoors here there would be lots of arrests for indecent exposure. LOL. There is nowhere to shower out side here. Not in the city. I bet in the country is must be nice. And besides, lots of people here would be looking and snapping pictures and video and it would wind up on FaceBook or YouTube.

Aw how cute lucky you. I am always thrilled when I come across something like this. I would have jumped for sure but then bent down to admire him as well ha ha. I guess he didn't like your soap ha ha. When we go to a vacation cabin in the woods I end up sharing my shower with spiders, millipedes, centipedes you name it. I just get my bug catcher which is a plastic cup with paper or something, put it over them and slide the paper over the top. Then my guest is ready to be rejoin his world. The only shower outside I have ever taken was outside our apartments pool.

Spiders I'm fine with providing i can see them. Centipedes I don't like at all. There's one in my kitchen just now. I failed to catch it earlier and now all my cats are hanging around the shelves where it has obviously gone to ground. I do hope they catch it by morning!

I had two of these in the house this week. Like I said I just use my home made plastic bug catcher as I don't like to kill anything. I was absolutely heartbroken when we lived in Arizona and had an unfortunate experience with the cat's. We had these adorable little salamanders that used to get into the house. I would be watching t.v. and look down and there would be this cute little green thing looking up at me blinking his eyes just like on the Geico commercials. I used to chase him back out the hole then block it up. There were a lot of holes. Well one morning I found one laying on the bedroom floor and he wasn't resting. Well, at least I saved quite a few little guys.

My cats like to chase lizards, but I don't think they taste good so they don't catch them

they had outside showers at camp - but never in a waterfall... and there has been the occasional spider, and a few times the cats have stepped in to see what I was doing...

The dogs like to join me in the waterfall, but they're a pain in the backside to be honest. They like to shake themselves all over me when I'm already clean.

No, I don't shower outdoors. Nor have I shared my shower with anyone recently. However, I've shared it with a frog before. I'm not sure how he got in there, I'm just glad I didn't step on him or worse yet scaled him with hot water! By the way, I wouldn't mind sharing the shower with hubby, but the darn shower's so small, it just isn't possible. Happy mylotting!

I can only share the waterfall because it's large enough. Often I'll just sit on the steps and chat when my partner showers.

i use to share my shower with my babies when they were infants. i would hold them body to body and then the baby up. that's the only kind of little things i want to share my shower with. if i saw a snake i don't care how little, i would just die of fright. i promise i would. i could feel my self sweating just thinking about it.

I don't know why everyone is so scared of snakes! This little chap was tiny and perfectly harmless. I was more of a threat to him than the other way around.

Outdoor bathing is the best!! I love the feel of a gentle breeze on my body and the flow of natural water on my skin. I remember when I was camping in northern California for a summer of gold panning I would bath in the creek and dry off on a sunny rock..I did find a waterfall far from camp and it was a real treat to stand under it and let it wash me clean. Snakes don't bother me. Nothing really bothers me except cockroaches, which will send me screaming. I loathe them so much that I can't even bring myself to step on them, they are so disgusting I don't even want my shoes to touch them. I love snakes, they do so much good for us and they are so velvety smooth.
@GreenMoo (11833)

Snake *are* all smooth aren't they? Not at all as I expected the first time I held one. That was years ago when I visited a show as a child and got to hold a giant python or something. I've been fascinated by them ever since. I've never seen a real cockroach. I suspect I'm not missing anything!

this would have been me : HOLY CRAP RUN!!! and I'd have done it. I am glad he was beautiful, and glad you knew he wouldn't hurt you. I think even if I knew that I'd still run. I"m a fraid of snakes. I'd love to take a shower in a waterfall though.

It's hard to guarantee there won't be any beasties when showering in the waterfall, but it's wonderful on a sunny day. Not so nice when it's cold out!

There's a waterfall that is not too far away from me, I've gone to it a few times. Really beautiful, I've scuffed myself on it before. Not sure I'd want to wash myself there though as people tend to visit it quite a bit.

I wouldn't have been quite so laid-back about finding a snake in my shower. I like snakes, but I prefer not being surprised by them. Of course, I don't do the outside shower thing either. My male cat generally likes to supervise my baths. He will come into the bathroom and lap water out of the tub while I am in the tub. If he doesn't have much else on his busy schedule (eat, nap, play, nap, eat, nap...), he may even hang out on the edge of the tub for a bit.

The dogs like to supervise outside showers. Although their main pleasure seems to be getting wet then shaking themselves all over the towel.

I always share a shower with my towel and soap and nobody else. Its ridiculous to do shower with a snake. Every creature looks beautiful when it is silent. If it had bitten you, probably you would have another last minute appointment with a doctor. Or this discussion wouldn't be here...
@GreenMoo (11833)
10 Jun 12
Why is it ridiculous? It's the snake's natural environment and it has every right to be there. The two of us were not bothering each other one bit. And I know it was not poisonous so I'm afraid you shall have to put up with my discussions for some time yet ...! I may have been more wary had it been a danger to me.

Man if this happen to me I would just start shout and go out as soon as possible. I just can't imagine this happening to me. I actually don't like to share my shower because when I bathe this is my private space and I don't want to share it with no one(especially animals). Well I use outdoor shower when I'm at the pool or when I'm at the sea.

Sometimes I share my shower with my partner, sometimes with my youngest kid. But only when I'm outside and there's lots of space!

I'm with gifts, I would have started screaming and running the other way. LOL, I do not care for them. My brother had them upstairs and a few times they got out of their cages and out of his room, I found one in the hallway and I couldn't go back downstairs til he came home and got it back where it was supposed to be. I forgot how long it took. I'm terrified of them. He's had all kinds of animals that I don't particularly care for like rats, mice, snakes, 'fairly large' lizards, and a ferret who liked biting at my feet, argh. The gerbils and hamster I could tolerate. I don't share my shower with any animals, sorry. I think the waterfall there where you can play in the water is pretty neat however. Just have to make sure the snakes stay away, LOL.

But they're harmless. Well, this one was anyway. And I'm a LOT bigger than it! I must admit I'm not keen on ferrets though. That's because they smell so bad!
