Poor Flower

I was sitting at my desk Friday night when I heard a cat yowling. I thought it was just another cat getting in some cats face, so I yelled "Knock it off!" a few times.
But while it paused, it kept happening.
I finally got up to find out what was going on.
Daisy was standing over Flower who was kind of laying on the floor, her tail twitching and her left front paw up by her ear.
Daisy ran off and I told Flower it was okay, but she didn't move.
I walked over, and tried to pick her up, and she tried to run, but she couldn't move that paw from her ear.
**this is where alarm bells go off in my head**
I reached down and gently took her paw and discovered she had a claw stuck inside the ear!
I pulled it out as gently as I could and she tried to run away, but I was concerned enough that I picked her up and carried her into the roomie's room.
I got a q-tip and dabbed what looked like fresh blood - it was - and then cleaned around it. Then I grabbed the ear medicine out of the little fridge in the roomie's room and treated her ears.
As a final insult, I then trimmed her nails.
OMG!
They were LONG and SHARP!
So, now her nails are clipped, her ear treated, and we let her down - she didn't run far...
I have to say, that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen a cat manage.
How about you?

Poor Flower in deed! I have never heard of that even happeneing to a cat before! Glad you were able to help Flower out! Cats do get into weird situations from time to time! I remember telling you about the cat with the empty can of catfood on her head! That was the weirdest and funniest thing I have seen a cat do! I have seen cats lose the top part of their tails. What they caaght their tails on is anyones guess!

I was saving orange juice cans one time and a cat got curious and got his head stuck in it. My husband rescued skunks that had caught their heads in things. Never even got sprayed. Cats will get their tails caught in doors or other things and they will lose circulation and they will lose that part of their tale.

So am I understanding that she had caught her claw in her ear and could not move. She essentially pierced her ear herself? Owie!!!!

Thank God, she's okay. I also admired your patience and commitment helping the cat. If I were in your place I would be hesitant to help it. I'm not really into cats but I'm not anti-cats. You save it. That is really cool. Hopefully I do have the courage to help it and probably get comfortable having cats. Keep it up! :)

Poor baby. I am glad you got to her and helped her as quickly as you did. She must have been not only hurt but very frightened as well.
I have never saw a cat do that before. One time someone dropped a ferret off at my rescue it had three claws stuck and wrapped into a blanket. That was a scary situation.
Trimming cat nails my least favorite task. It is always the hardest nail to trim.

I actually feel Sorry for Flower having something happen like this. That must have hurt, and I hope she will be OK. Cutting the claws does sound like it was in order with this, and hopefully everything will be fine from here.

Yup, can't say as I've even ever heard of something like that before. But, all's well that ends well, as some weird old bearded guy said... Willie the Shake, I think he was called.

Oh my! I'm glad she's ok. I've never heard of a cat clawing their own ear and getting it stuck before. Clearly you've seen more than I have of what they can get into but still. It was nice of Daisy to try to comfort her til someone came to help Flower

Nnnnooooo...not quite so traumatic...unless maybe the incident with Zu & the Demon Sticky Tape that chased her in Denton, or the Escaping Mouse From Our House Event?
I'll let you tell them. /o)

I've told them about the "great rat race" ( http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1691730.aspx ) just to remind you not to get you to respond.
As for the tape... I think I might've mentioned it but don't know if I've actually told it (and since you were asleep you didn't get to see it, just hear the story about a bazillion times!)
