speaking of pickles

Seeing another friends discussion got me wondering if anyone else does this with their store bought pickles...
I usually drain half to all the brine out of the pickle jar and fill it up with water to reduce the amount of salt in the pickle itself. I used to eat them straight from the jar as a kid now it's just too salty for my taste anymore. Any one else?

I have never done that. I would be more likely to add extra vinegar to reduce it. I usually save the brine and add it to things for flavor. Like into an egg or potato salad. I have also heated it and poured it over other vegetables for a pickled salad.

I've never thought about adding the brine to other dishes. Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't like pickles of any sort, and don't eat them in or out of the brine.
I do not like green pickles.
I do not like them in a jar, I do not like them in car.
I do not like them at fair. I do not like them on a chair
I do not like them anywhere.
With apologies to Dr. Seuss.

yeah they are too salty i think they wanted the pickles to last longer as salt is a best preservative...like you my mom also reduces the brine and adds water to reduce the salt.....with the salt reduced the pickle tastes so good.
