Workers Overseas, Is it really this hard?

Singapore

Good Morning myLotters! I would just like to share what I am experiencing right now as an overseas worker. For my stay here, I know that it's not the worst experience for an overseas worker, but it is really hard for me already. What more are the ones who've been beaten up by their boss or being maltreated by their employers right? *Just looking on the bright side of things.* To cut the story short, for the past 5 months, it's been hard to adapt to the culture of the people around me, and it's hard for me to live on my own since it's the first time I am leaving behind my comfortable life and my family. Before I don't even do my laundry, I have somebody to do it for me, but here, I have to monitor everything, when i am going to do my laundry, clean up the room, and the hardest part of all is to do budget every month for my spending because i also want to save money. Things are tough but as time goes on, I am already learning to adapt to the lifestyle here in Singapore so in a way, I am already enjoying my stay here and hope that the 2 years contract will just be a fast one so that I can go back to the Philippines and enjoy the fruits of my hardship here. So as of now, that's my story. would love to hear your stories and how you cope up with everything under the sun:) Have a good day myLotters!:)

Hi there, its been nine months since you have posted this discussion... i do think that working abroad and away from your family is no easy task. you are alone, with no one to help you and with no one you know personally to share stories with. often you are on your own and yet you have to do your work and you have adapt to culture, be careful as you do not know yet what kind of people they are, and get to know them first. However, i do hope you are doing well now.

Currently i am a college student. From your experience i understand that not to choose the carrier from abroad. In the beginning it will be exciting but when you get into it your life will be totally changed. The most inportant thing is that MONEY!MONEY!MONEY!.Money matters everything. its very difficult to manage them so i decide to work in my own country
