http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watergate_scandal A president uses secret wiretapping to spy on his enemies and keeps a list of those he does not like or trust. Opperatives break into the 'enemies' compound, ie; Watergate Hotel, and are caught red handed. The only difference between then and now; the president had the good sense to resign and those who helped him break the law, were sent to prison. Obama and his crew just may get reelected in spite of their crimes and misdomeaners.

Ugh, Oh How I hated this, not because of what was done, (I am still not 100% sure about what happened and I don't care), but I remember I was a fifth grader and my teacher was big on us reading up on "current events" which bored me to no end. So I ended up barely passing that grade because I didn't want to read about and then write about "Watergate" so it will always be a reminder of my fifth grade teacher, who I really did not like or get along with..

I was in Junior High when the break-in happened, and a lot of young liberal teachers who wanted us to learn the current events. I know what you went through wishing they would just let us alone.

LOL brothertuck, if I remember correctly, this teacher was old, at least to my young 10 y/o eyes..lol So she must have been an "old liberal teacher" and I wonder if she is even still alive today...

i was pretty young when all this happened and not interested in that sort of thing but i have read books and seen movies on the subject (i am a history fanatic) and my favourite movie was the one with David Frost interviewing Nixon. (i think it was called Frost vs Nixon, but i cannot remember.) it was last year when i saw it. what a great movie!

I do remember when it all happened.....but now when I think of Watergate I think of the part of the movie Forest Gump when he looks across and sees the flashlights and turns them in! LOL

I was so young and I knew and understood so little about this scandal. Whenever it is mentioned I think of Richard Nixon better known as Tricky Dicky and then I think of John Lennon. Nixon and Lennon were such enemies and for whatever reason, he really, really wanted Lennon deported. In my little 17 yr old mind, all Watergate did was give more creedence to John Lennon's thoughts. I say that and I still can't say with any surety that I really understand any of what happened back then. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDDJeM5R4PM&feature=related

Water gate may be a big as far as USA is concerned. But take the issue of Somalia pirates who is even blackmailing even USA, what we can do.so Water gate is nothing compared to that.

I know Watergate happened but at the time when it did I didin't understand it. I still don't totally understand it even today! It led to Richard Nixon resigning as the President in 1973. I also remember the hearings in front of congress that were shown on tv for I think was months! That is what I remember!

Talk Watergate, of course we will talk about story called Watergate scandal which is the greatest political scandal in the 20th century with a series of tricks efforts to cover someone and something, fund bribery, deception, black list, the paranoia of president, illegal recordings and the words which removed, which the end closed with resignation Richard Nixon as president.
