Jessica Sanchez's for Singing Lupang Hinirang?

Philippines

Come on people.. Ever since the Pacman Bradley Fight, there are some mental crabs out there who shown disappointment because J-San sung the American National Anthem for Bradley. How come none of you weren't so disappointed when she sang it so many times before. and now urging her to sing our Anthem? nuts.. She has never been in the Philippines, nor she had the time to learn tagalog, don't you guys know hard it is to learn our language? compare to the english she grew up to. She's an American Citizen with Filipino Blood, but why so serious? Race shouldn't matter..but it still does to most people, otherwise, she wouldn't even make it to top 2. Let her star shine more, maybe she will have time to study our language someday... Let's not put the pressure on this 16 yr old.

I agree with you, Jessica Sanchez should not be blamed on anything here. First, she is still under the AI management and naturally will favor the US National anthem. And like what you said, Jessica is an American citizen which makes much difficult for her to sing our National anthem. What is she sand our national anthem and ending up messy, I am quite sure that more crabs will react violently.

Hello Shylade, She hasn' t sang it yet but am sure the pronunciation will be messy a little bit because shes used to the american accent. unfortunately most of these crabs don't BUY albums as some of them are either poor or doesn't know where to buy stuff in Itunes. so, this is something that needs to be ignored

Hi Shylade and LK.. I agree with you both. Jessica said in an interview that she does not speak and hardly understands Tagalog and being the kind of singer that she is (singing from the heart), she prefers to learn our language first before singing any song in Tagalog. ^_^

LOL! I like it LK25!, Let's give a sort of respect to Jessica, bearing a Filipino blood doesn't give us the right to demand or pressure her to sing our national anthem. It is more adorable if Jessica sing our national anthem voluntarily.. sing it from her heart as Filipino.

Hello Cttolledo, She wanted to but she's not ready yet not to mention she's just beginning to shine like no other. singing the philippine national anthem can wait. we have abundance of singers across the country, surely they would be proud to sing that song and doesn't have to be Jessica. what about charice? or Sarah Geronimo again? there's nothing wrong with it. how about quinto? there's so many singers.

I just don't understand other Filipinos who were disappointed when Jessica Sanchez did not sing Philippine Anthem. Why such an anger? It's very obvious that Jessica cannot speak tagalog how much more sing the national anthem. The trouble with us is we kept on insisting to make her a true Filipino in reality and sentiments when she is not. It's okay to praise her but to force her to think like a Filipino I think is wrong. Give her a break.

Hello Jlamela, She has mentioned it before and that's why I felt so shocked about our people hating on Jessica for this small issue. I don't know what you meant think like a Filipino, is it in a good way or bad way? because she already shown the best characteristics of being a Filipino. but i'd rather have her american attitude of keep winning rather than the Filipino attitude of whining and complaining. Have a nice day.

I totally agree with you, LetranKnight25. Why would Filipinos be disappointed with Jessica Sanchez? She grew up as an American so isn't that how she should be? Why take credit for the talents of an American girl who grew up to be an American only to be disappointed in the end because she cannot sing the Philippine National Anthem even though she has a little Filipino blood? Seriously, these bunch really needs to change their way of thinking into that of a mature and wise person. That way our society will progress to a better future.

People are discriminating people because the person who is concerned is always the one who shines at the top. Call it the Filipino's crab mentality that we got from our foreign conquerors...

Hello SinfulRose, She already acknowledge and sure proud of having a Filipino Heritage so that's probably just enough. She doesn't really know how to speak tagalog and mexican so let's just leave her at that. Unfortunately, that has been the most disappointing attitude of the Filipinos, something that shouldn't be imitated. we think so much of race that we've forgotten about to think of others. Have a Nice day.

You are right, there are many Filipinos that are really sourgraping on why J-San choose to sing the American National Anthem. They want her to sing our national anthem which really give her hard time to study and perhaps could not deliver the right pronunciations of the words. In case this happens, The NHI will again criticize her. Remeber that there are many singers criticized by NHI just becuase of having their own interpretation of the song? Another, she said that she is wiling to sing ours but she cannot argue with the production of AI where I think opted for her to sing the American National Athem.

Hello Asdomencil, in fact, they shouldn't be asking her to do that in the first place. She was born american and we have claimed a lot just to bash a celebrity, i think Jessica is right where she belong and that is United States.Well, am better off her singing the US anthem, she's an American anyways. Have a nice day

Correct Letran! Why would they be surprised that Jessica sang the national anthem of the the US. She is an American Citizen and is an American Idol finalist, so logically she will be requested to sing it. And it would be awkward for her to sing our national anthem, because for sure she would be pronouncing them in a slang way, thus will get reprimand from the Filipino critics.

hEllo Simplyd, They weren't surprise before when she sang it numerous times in every program she attended to. with this, I prefer her not singing the National Anthem because i know that she's going to be criticized by the National Historical Institute. I just wonder if they are singing the national anthem themselves during their time to sing it. have a nice day

Hello Risktaker, I was expecting this kind of response coming from those who are colonial mental craps in her twitter because they kind mis understood that there's already some one that should be singing the Philippine National Anthem.THis Kurby Asunto is also a possible contender for the Future Season of American Idol, I want her to join next or next2x year. Have a nice day.

I agree with you. She was an American in her heart and it just so happen that her race is Filipino. But looking at her at how she talked and behave is so American already. I think her parents did not taught her to speak her native tongue that is why she would have a hard time singing our national anthem. That is why I agree with you in saying give her a break. She needs to re-learn being Filipino again before we can expect her to be what we want of her.

Hello Rsa101, She behaves like a real mature Celebrity, this is a real role model were talking about here. Learning the language takes time compare to simply learning english, which takes months only to slow learners. But the Filipino Language is something that will take time. but you know I remember her saving "ANO" during when she was with Phillip Phillips.Have a Nice day.

bashers will always have a reason to complain about... hi lk! she'll one day sing lupang hinirang. and like every song she did, she'll give it her all, her best. for now, it's only but natural for her to sing the american national anthem... being an american herself. all i know is jessica sanchez received more cheers singing the national anthem... than bradley winning the fight. lolz

Hello Myles, Yeah she received more cheers from both American and Filipino watchers there. I don't think she should sing our national anthem yet, it would spike more issues and she can't speak tagalog as of yet. they should give her time to learn our language before she can sing the Phil. National Anthem, besides, she got more things to take care of like making her own album. Have a nice day.

dear LK, Mind the buggers :p I would rather be feel proud. Imagine our very own Jesse singing the US National Anthem -that's a real wow. That only means, Jesse is a real winner for American people

Hello Jaiho-sis, I strongly agree that Jessica Singing the American national Anthem makes us proud Filipinos. unfortunately others think differently and this is the kind of attitude that should be change in every Filipino attitude to boot. The one hundred thirty two Million won't be for Phillip Phillips that's for sure. If no Filipino American would reach the top 24, then there won't be a 132m vote diff. Have a nice day.

I am a fan of jessica but even I would be disappointed if she choose to sing Lupang hinirang over the star spangled banner at such a high profile fight. Jessica's career has barely started and landing on the number two spot on American Idol, I think the least she can do is give tribute to the americans where she also happens to be one . I'm sure there'll come a time when she will trace her roots back in the Philippines just like the previous AI contenders who got filipino blood. They all visited our country and they are welcomed with open arms. Filipinos are everywhere all over the world, they may change their nationalities but once they come home they will always feel that they're one of us. So we should just let jessica's career soar to new heights because her success is also ours.

Hello Ybong, I don't want her to sing our Anthem, am proud enough to know that Jessica has Filipino Heritage but she's definitely American. She clearly did want to sing that song but our Historical Institute might screw on our idol for not pronouncing it right. yeah, they should let Jessica's Career soar, this is her success and we are happy she turned out this way. Have a nice day.

Well, I don't get it either. It's only natural that she sings the US national anthem since she is very familiar with it. If she wishes to sing the Philippine national anthem, she is also welcome to do so if she considers herself a Filipino. No matter what her ethnicity is, she is foremost an American citizen. So, she is entitled to her national anthem. I don't get why she gets bashed by singing her own anthem. If someone wants her to sing the Lupang Hinirang, let her learn it so that she could sing it pt properly and do ti justice as r she did to the American one. Give the girl time. There are still many boxing matches around. Then again, I think people expect her to sing The Lupang Hinirang since many Pinoys voted for her.

Hello Jeanneyvonne, You can't expect to Phillip Phillips to sing some thing like that.of course, they would focus more on the person who can sing ballads, and it's not the winner, but the runner up. Besides, what I want her to sing is her own song and not others, because this isn't something that she wanted anymore. she wants to sing her album it's gonna be from her. Have a nice day.

I couldn't agree more. She will be having a hard time singing our national anthem because she doesn't know how to speak Tagalog. It is fine with me if she is singing the national anthem of the US. Let's give her some time to practice our language.

Hello Champoy186, She doesn't speak tagalog and it will take time because our language is hard to learn unless it started in childhood. Besides, Americans are liking their National Anthem because of Jessica Sanchez, and this is something good. well, she will make time to learn our language, but definitely not all with her busy schedules. have a nice day.

i was disappointed at first, too. Then, i remembered she's an american citizen and maybe she has Filipino blood but, she didn't really grew up here in the Philippines. So, i definitely agree with you Letran. :) Some people just don't know how to understand.

Hello Effinmuffin, How can you be disappointed in her? because she simply doesn't speak tagalog but proud of being a Filipino. I hope the People should understand that she's an American and has really done her best to entertain and make her parents proud and am sure she's happy now. Have a nice day.
