What's your Game Plan? Starting over responding

It makes me wonder, what would result if I take a hiatus in mylot...not totally, but only on "respond to discussion" department. I'm planning of allocating my majority of my effort in "start a new discussion" department. There are times that I can think of unique topics free flowing. There are times that are not. Would that make a difference on the participation and eventually to earnings if I concentrate on starting rather than responding to a discussion? Thanks in advance for your views.

You are exactly right here. If he starts discussions he needs to comment on the responses others make. That keeps the interaction going and the thread alive. In that way he will maximize his earnings by putting forth good effort in his discussions or in others.

Hello Mikyung,
My game plan is to follow my heart. Whether I start a discussion or repond to a discussion started by someone else is irrelevant.
I do what I feel inspired to do and that's what I would suggest for everyone else, as well.
As writers we all have moments when our thoughts and words flow. We also have times when we're busy with other things. Flow with whatever happens naturally for you rather than being determined to make a job out of it.

Sherrybelle, you are so right. MyLot is not a job. You will earn here, but not from making it into work, but rather from making friends, or maybe even enemies or opponents as long as you are civil. I really like your response.

Unless you comment on the responses to your discussions you will make very little. You earn for what you type. I do find that my earnings increase when I start discussions but that is not because that is more valuable participation. My earnings increase because I comment on the responses and I have focus on doing that and on having a discussion with my respondents. You will see, however, that I start very few discussions here.

I would say that the way you mylot is completely up to you, but you can apply whatever strategy you like. If it is easier to post discussions, I would imagine there won't be a writer's block while achieving your participation earnings. I respond a lot more than I post discussions. As you can see, discussions are the result of what someone chooses to talk about. If you have a lot you want to discuss, then it works toward your benefit. I find posting discussions to be challenging. It is like fishing, throw the bait in and see who bites. If no one bites, then you are left to respond to discussions just to continue participating. Anyway, mylot your way. You may want to check out my previous discussion "Mylot, My Way", it is just a short discussion on how I choose to stay in the mylot community.

If you start a discussion you get paid for the comments that you write when other people respond. When you respond to discussions you also get paid. You can earn both ways, and personally I prefer to combine them. When I have a topic that I would like to hear other people's opinion about I start a discussion and talk to the people who respond. When I don't have anything specific that I want to share or discuss I just respond to the discussions started by other people. Sometimes when I have many discussions with responses that I didn't comment on yet, I don't start new discussions for a while, because that gives me a chance to catch up and write some comments on my old discussions.

hmm... i don't really have "game plan". i just participate whenever i want. i think that if i focus too much on earning, i'd be disappointed and will eventually stop. i really just try to enjoy participating, while earning in the background. it's more fun that way i guess:)

There is no plan.
I consider MyLot as an active income without any regular wage/salary. For me MyLotting is just as random as what I earn from here everyday but a good source of income for an amateur online worker like me.
Let's just say that whatever interests me here in MyLot is where I go and participate. MyLot doesn't care for whatever it is that I plan to do, anyway. They only pay me for my activity and nothing more...right?

There were actually a couple of periods where I really did this. There comes a time at least once a year, where all of the ground has been burned through with my interest of the topics of other people. That is really just not the fault of anyone really starting. It is just something where there is a change of scenery until I really just recharge my interest.
There are times where I start discussions and that's it, responding to who responds to me. Other than that, that is what I have done for periods of two weeks during many times in the past. It is just something that I have to do freshen up my participation. There are times where I just start discussions and reply, sometimes where I just reply to the discussions of others, and then there are times where the bag is mixed.

To be honest I dont have a game plan, I just respond to all the discussion that I am interested and sometimes start a discussion when I feel it. I think there is no difference between starting an new discussion and reponding to the discussion, the important is your participation, that was based on my own opinion. But is up to you if youre more comfortable in starting a new discusion then do it. Good luck. :)
