Plagiarism in Outfit?

I was looking back a couple years ago about some dress that someone on YoVille the cartoon town game on Facebook or Myspace had and it apparently won. It took a year for the person to be disqualified since they were plagiarizing the person's work. AMEN TO THAT! It got taken down etc. The dress was worth $25,000 in real life I was thinking instead of redoing that exact same dress, I'd make an inspired style and much more different (longer at the back like cathedral gown length, shorter in the front with a burlesque look, instead of the original color perhaps make it blue instead of white, get rid of the feathers, make it sparkle and dazzle for the ball, kimono sleeves perhaps bearing shoulder or corset backing strapless). Would that be considered plagiarism? I'm trying to redesign something, of course I'll credit the original idea unlike that person who got disqualified from the contest. I plan on using the dress I'm getting made for a ball and at next year's award ceremonies when I get nominated again (hopefully).
