What will you when you realize that your dog was sleeping when an intruder came into your house and took away your belongings. The door was where it was meant to bark, it was sleeping or have slept off, and the intruder comes in, took all that he wanted and walked out. Will you kill, spank, starve, sell, or pat the dog?

I will still love the dog no matter what. Back at the time i had a dog, my dog usually go to sleep after i fed him. so i usually fed him long before i go to sleep. So when i go to sleep, he usually already awake.

I think the dog should be trained. And I have heard that if you want a dog to watch at night you must feed it in the morning so that he is not ready for a nap. In all cases, the dog must not be punished.

There are reasons why a dog would sleep during night time when it was supposed to be guarding the house. Maybe the dog is too old already or maybe it has eaten too much. It can be also a reason that the dog knows the person who came in.
In our home, we don't feed the dog too much at night time so to keep it awake all night. It's okay for the dog to sleep during the day.

Hello Chikezie
I would still pat the dog, because the dog is my friend and I love the dog.
It would be even worse if the dog greeted the intruder, with the dog's tail wagging with the happiness!
