Hi, all mylotters,
I heard that not all fruits are good for health. For instance, durians are not recommended for those who suffer from high cholesterol and hypertension. Another one is date which contain a lot of sugar. This is not good for people who want to lose weight because date is rich carbohydrate and sugar.
What's your take mylotters?
Looking forward to your comment. Thank you.

You are right, fruits are good or not depends on a person who eat it. It maybe good with this person but it may be harm with another.
I have no problem with any fruit types, so that all is good for me..however we need to eat fruit in moderation ... eating fruit too much is not good also.

Yes, not every fruit are suitable for everyone to eat. If we have any health problem, we should consult the doctor first, before we are to eat any fruit. That's what my parents do whenever they are not sure of what fruit they can eat. Most important is always eat any fruit or food in moderation.

It is better to consult a doctor regarding what type of fruit is suitable for us all, especially for those who are in certain condition like pregnancy, and those suffering from certain diseases.

From what I heard about durians, it seems like they wouldn't be good for anyone with a nose. Anything is bad for you if not taken in moderation. Too many carrots will make your skin turn a yellow/orange color, acidic fruits can damage our teeth over time.

I think the safest fruit to eat is banana. Have you ever heard of any bad effect of eating banans?

Yanza, you are right that certain fruits are can't be eaten by people who have health problem. For instance, both my parents are unable to eat durian and red dates. Because my mother have diabetics and my father have hypertension. Most of the time, they only eat banana and oranges since it is alright for them. As for myself, i can eat any types of fruits as i like as long i take them in moderation. I think we should always take any fruit in moderation as not to cause any health problem to us.

Banana is the right fruit for your parents. I've been consuming banana for years. It helps cure you of hypertension. It helps you reduce your weight as well.

I agree.I do not think all fruits are as healthy as people think they are.People that are trying to lose weight should reseach first what kind of fruits are most healthy and have little fat . I did know about the dates and how they have alot of sugar because i make date cookies at the Holidays and i dont add any extra sugar and its still very sweet.

Thank you for responding and your info is very useful. Fruits, especially the organic ones are very costly.

If we suffer from diseases, foods should be selected. However, if we are healthy, I think all fruits are fine.

I was not aware that dates were rich in carbohydrates and sugar. I think we learn new things every day. I think it is good to take good fruits in our lives and fruits are good for health.

Dates are good for Ramadhan months when all Muslims fast. The first foods to be taken are dates and warm tea but many like drinking cold drinks.

I am a little surprised to read this title. But when I read your post, I think it is reasonable. Durians may not be good for the people who have high cholesterol and hypertension. It is just like that watermelon may not suitable for the diabetics. Since watermelon contains lots of sugar.
I love China

If you eat durian too much, you will feel dizzy. Some people with hypertension should really stay away from durians.

Do you notice that sugar from fruits and the one you use in your coffee or tea is different? I am afraid sugar from fruits is a lot safer than inorganic sugar.

Yes, i agree, durian is not recommended for people who has high blood pressure. In chinese culture, durian is considered 'heaty' stuff and shouldn't be eaten too frequently. Furthermore, durian has very strong smell and it's not suitable to everybody. I've never known date is kind of fruit, i thought it's mainly used for deserts, soups and herbal drinks, due to its sweetness.

All fruits contain a lot of sugar but this kind of sugar is way different from the one we add to our coffee, tea, we find in cookies and so many other kind of food.
If you eat different kind of fruit daily you will be in perfect health.
And if it comes to what is healty or toxic/poison or not.. everything is if you eat too much from it. You can kill a person with water as well!

I think it is now difficult to eat many different kinds of fruits as they are now very expensive. I have papaya trees. I eat papaya everyday. The trees just grow without me giving any fertilizers. I think they are organic. Bananas are available and a little cheaper than such other fruits as apples, grapes, oranges and whatnot.

That's right. The best way for sufferers is to consult a doctor before starting eating fruits just to make sure that the fruit is safe to eat.

That stands true for almost any eatable and not only for fruits. Not everybody can eat everything since he/she is having one or the other health problems.

I wonder what is wrong with durian if you have high cholesterol. We don't get cholesterol from durian anyway because cholesterol comes from animals only. Now for diabetics, I know they are not allowed to indulge much in sweet fruits like dates, mangoes, grapes and the more. It is not actually because those fruits are bad, it is just that the person indulged in unhealthy food and lifestyle so the result now is that he can't enjoy all kinds of fruits. It is not the fruits that cause his sickness but the unhealthy foods he used to take and unhealthy lifestyle as well.
