a realistic number..

A realistic number of discussions to start a day.. I don’t think I know mine yet.
I mean this is my 3rd today.. but before that I think I did 5 or 6 in one day.. but before that I was lucky if I did one every time I was on.
I got into a little bit of a habit of responding to everyone elses discussions and not really writing my own anymore. Maybe I got boring. or maybe I’d too many friends, starting too many discussions all at the same time haha.. I’m not really sure, but this rut of not starting discussions but merely responding has plagued me the whole time I’ve been with mylot.
So maybe if I set myself a task? 2 discussions a day? I mean that’s realistic. But not challenging.
Ok then so we’ll make it 5 discussions a day.. that’s challenging, also do-able depending on the length of them, even with me being busy in work..
But then where does quality some into it? Obviously they may end up being little short discussions not really about much, to live up to my challenge to myself. But then again some people don’t like long discussions, they don’t enjoy reading the whole story. So the 5 would be more beneficial to people who can’t be bothered reading lengthily stories..
Challenging yourself to starting a realistic number of discussions .. what do you think of this?

I set a challenge to myself before and that was posting ten discussions in a day. Did i ever make it? Yes i did, for a couple of days. Then I disappeared on mylot!
Think i got fed up with responding to those who commented on my discussions. The truth is i just got tired, got sick of being in front of my laptop every single day except the weekends.
Now i'm not setting any challenges anymore. I just want to enjoy my moment when i'm here and that is if i'm here. I do swore that I would post at least one discussion in a day and if i couldn't, at least respond to friends who did.
Good luck and looking forward to your discussions.

hahaha i remember when you set yourself that challange! i wasn't on the internet for a few days and when i came back i was completely stuffed full of emails saying "your friend toniganzon has started a new discussion on mylot" haha!! was very funny :)
and i remember you getting sick of mylot too lol so maybe that is a fair point!

I think it really depends on how much time you have to respond to all the responses you will undoubtedly get (and discussion starters should ALWAYS try to reply back!) I remember starting five, six, or more in a span of a few days and I spent the rest of that week just replying back! And some responses I never got around to, which I feel guilty about. But anyway, I think you know your limits best. I'd say I don't have a limit because I'm on break and have nothing much to do but I'm sure everyone is busy and some people are just not natural discussion starters.
I think five is a good amount, maybe even to high but as long as the quality doesn't suffer (and it won't as long as you don't focus on your challenge but just on having fun), it should be fine. I think two is a more reasonable limit though.

Yes, I just saw that and it's a really good habit to have. It might, or it might just take more time than usual. I think I spent two or so hours here today commenting on responses and responding to new discussions (I switched back and forth so I wouldn't get bored).
I think that's a good plan! But I unfortunately will suffer the messiness as I do not have any self control on how many discussions I will start.

HAHAHA! :)
after i started this discussion i actually got given a new role in work.. not any more money, but more to do lol so my days have been flying by without giving me any time for mylot lol! .. so alls well that ends well, there goes my many discussion starting days lol!

Yes I was just saying to Stine [above] that I comment back to ALL the responses to my discussions all the time.. so that shouldn't be a problem.. but then when you factor in that I will actually be responding to more comments than usual, because I'm starting more discussions than usual, that could get messy.
I think I will stick to 2, and if i find it managable, I will up my game haha!

I think you've got too much time on your hands if this is dilemma of the day!
If I get too many discussions from one person one after the other I tend to get bored and only answer one or two. I may make an exception for you of course but there's no guarantees.

LMAO!!
cheeky cheeky!
I do have two much time on my hands, to be honest. Our work is very very busy at the moment, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be affecting me. I'm the receptionist, and also the accounts clerk, and there just seems to be very little for me to do these days lol!
But yes I can see what you are saying about one persons discussions getting tedious!

Well it really can be all dependent about the time that you have to dedicate for this website. Of course, I think that starting more than two or three topics a day might be a bit much. Then again there are just days where I cannot even keep up with one topic, much less two or three, so yeah. At another time, I used to but not right now.
Of course, two or three topics, spread out through the day, is really the best thing to do. Sometimes a topic just blows up with a lot of responses and really when you reply to them all, you might have your hands full replying with that. There are going to be other times where sometimes you get a few discussions with only a handful of responses. Timing is everything after all.

I have a lot of spare time at the moment, because my work, although it is busy, seems to have run out of work for me haha! They say it's because I'm such a fast typer [116 words per minute lol] that I race through everything, and get 2 weeks work of work done in 2 days lol.. maybe thats exaggerating a little but you get my point lol.. so I seem to have a lot of time on my hands, and thought what better way to use up spare time, than to do something useful and interesting like Mylot instead of spending money I don't have on ebay haha!
But I think you are completely correct. Spreading my 2 or 3 or 4 discussions out over the course of the day leaves with me with [hopefully] suffient time to respond to all the responses!

I think it's just because I'm so bored in work these days that I find myself needing something to do, and I think focussing my energy on something like Mylot is better than buying things I don't need on ebay lol!

I think that it is great to set goals for yourself. Some people can't really get anything done without setting goals. I used to have a checklist of things to do everyday, or else I would procrastinate until the last possible moment. That ends up making things harder on yourself.

I'm quite lazy to be honest. Well kind of. I have my days where I'm go go go and get everything done, and that's fine.. but then I have my days where I simply cannot be bothered lol.
I've been very tired of late, and have actually contemplated taking some natural herbal supplements to give me a boost. And I thought if I were to set myself a goal at something, such as Mylot it may help to boost my energy levels.
