Doesn't that sound ominous??? I will actually start with the good news I think. I was told my CA125 was down to 40 so the cancer front looks good. Unfortunately, when they did the CT scan, it showed blood clots in my lungs. I'm not totally sure what that means, but when I do go home, I will have to give myself shots in the belly to prevent any more from what I was told. aaarrrggghhh!!!

When we are fighting a health challenge, any good news is appreciated. So, enjoy that and keep hoping and fighting. May God continue to give you strength and courage in your struggles. I wish you success!

I do know that I don't want to be home alone when I feel like this and I do live alone. I am actually happy with the CA125 since it hasn't been that low since they stopped chemo last summer. I will take this one day at a time and I'm sure it will get better. Thanks for the response!

I thought your niece lived with you. I do not blame you for not wanting to be left alone. I know it is easy for me to be philosophical about the blood clots and treatment. I wish you did not have to go through this.

@gardengerty,
I thought that she was going to be living with me, but right after my brother told me that, she decided that she was going to do classes online and go back to China in the fall. I am home from the hospital now and hope I can stay that way for a while.

One of the effects of blood thinners, but if it keeps the clots from getting bigger, I guess it would be worth it.

It is treatable with six months of Lovenox shots. Already I have four bruises on my belly and all I have to say is I'm glad that I don't go around in a bikini or anything like that or people might think I was being beaten there or something. Thanks for the response!

Actually they sent in a pulmonary team and they pretty much agreed with the oncology team. The Lovonox should break the clots up, but I have always hated getting those shots! They are so miserable. On top of everything else I was given two units of blood yesterday after getting over two liters of fluids on Monday before being admitted. Last week I was told that I would probably get blood this week but because of dehydration it didn't show up as being low on Monday's labs. Go figure...

My CT scan showed something awful in my colon of inespecific nature so I had to have a colonoscopy. It turned out that, while I had something, it was not terrible. But the CT scan is so exagerated that it shows just about anything. I had tiny polyps which were removed and a very small ulcer that I try have treated after my vacations.
Can´t you get a friend to give you the shots? I don´t like to give myself shots either.

I know last year, the tumors didn't show up on CT, but they were seen when they did the surgery to try to fix the fistula. I still have the colostomy from that, but at least everything else is still there. As far as getting a friend to do it, there aren't often any other people at my place. It wasn't too bad tonight though. Hopefully it will get easier just like the colostomy did. Have a great weekend!!!

Sorry to hear about all these problems my friend. My thoughts and Prayers are with you. Are they giving you anything to help dissolve the clots and what are they thinking is causing this? This is not good and I am hoping that they are finding ways to help you.
Glad to hear about the Cancer, but many times I think life just never likes to deal us a Full deck of Health.

I have to give myself Lovenox shots for the next six months. Hopefully they will find that they are all gone when I get a CT from the pulmanology department in two months. It was probably caused from being in bed sick all weekend and not being up very much during that time. I just hope it doesn't happen again and none of the possible complications/side effects happen. Have a great weekend!!!

In a way even knowing about the blood clots so that you can treat them is good news. That means that one has not broken loose and gone someplace to cause a stroke or something.I would think that maybe the injections for them will not be permanent. I am glad your CA125 is at a good place.

You are probably right about that, but I still hate the idea of having to get the shots at all. Can I get a whole new body instead???

I would second that motion about a new body. And while we are at it, can´t I ask for the size and weight I want? I agree with Gertie: if the doctors discover what you have, they can treat it. After all that surgery and chemo, shots should not be that bad, Deb.

I have done the shots twice now, once at the hospital and once tonight at home. I still don't like it, but it is not that bad. It sounds like I will have to do this for six months, but I guess we will see. I also am on oxygen. Maybe the sound of the machine pumping will help me sleep. I hope so.

So far, tonight's site hasn't bruised. I will wait and see how it looks tomorrow. I just hope I can stop the high blood pressure medicine soon too. It was scary some of the numbers that had come up while I was in the hospital. Have a great weekend!!!

hi daeckardt I did not know you were battling cancer. glad your CA125 id down to 40 b ut sorry about the blood clots in your lungs.
and having to ha ve blood transfusions is no fun.I had bleeding diveticulitis and it took four blood transfusions and a barium enema to stop the bleeding.plus blood tests every four hours e very night, the culprit a half cup of blackberry seeds settled in a little diverticuli and punched open a large artery.I was anemic befre hits so thats why all the blood. so I never ate another blackberry ever again. but us diabetics get used to the belly shots no fu n bu t when I was in the hospital thats where they gave them.but
daeckardt if it well prevent the blood clots it will be worth a little pain. You do not want blood clots in you lungs as its really dangerous.

The problems have not started getting better yet. In fact, it seems like everything is going to pot fast (and no, I don't use but many say that I should)! Except when they had me on a heparin drip during this last hospital stay, I generally had only one lab draw every night; but when I was on that it was every 4-6 hours around the clock! I hated that, especially when they decided to put an IV in my hand so that they had a place to put the heparin (started out as the port) as well as the other fluids they wanted to give me. Eventually they did switch the slower drip to my hand but it made it hard to do anything on the computer or with the hand period! I think I'd better stay away from the hospital as much as possible or I might wind up in even worse shape! I have kept up with the shots even though they sting like the dickens. I hate them, but I know that in order to survive I need them. Thanks for the response!

That reminds me a lot of the link that my brother sent me the other day when I was feeling really down..."Always look on the bright side of life" from Monty Python. I didn't care for the video, but the message was a good one!
