I have been to a very nice place here in the Philippines - Bataan, Corrigedor. This place is very historical because a lot of American and Filipino soldiers died a long time ago when The Japanese tried to colonize our country, The Philippines.
When I first visited the place and see its ruins with my very own eyes, ,I couldnt believe that a lot of people died on that very place. There are places that my hairs all over my body are all standing. I dont know why...
Have you been to a historical place where people offer there lives for the others?
How do you feel about it?

I imagine that would be an eerie experience, screwdriver.
I have been to many old battefields in my country, from when our country was fighting itself. Some of the places have been quite moving, as well as eerie.
Sometimes when I visit these places and I see groups who are touring these places and they are laughing and joking, I get upset when I see what I consider to be a lack of solemnity.

Exactly.
I try to tell myself that at least they are there, and we all experience things differently. Still, it bothers me.

I have never been to such a place. In India, we have a basic mythology that we all live by, of Lord Ram [who is one of our Gods]. Lord Ram's wife was kidnapped by the King of Lanka [which is Sri Lanka now] and Lord Ram built a bridge of rocks and stones over the Indian Ocean and declared war on the Lankan King. the King's palace was burned to the ground after a long fight, and the ruins are still there.
I have a wish to go and see that place for myself, I gather I would feel goosebumps just remembering what happened there and how it affected every Indian and Sri Lankan's life. Lord Ram was a human avatar of our grater God Lord Vishnu, and the only remarkable thing about his story is his victory over Rawan, the Lankan King. Aside from that, the most admired thing about Lord Ram was his character, flawless, selfless, noble and generous. He was a man with principles for everyone to follow and live by.
I wish to see this place one day.

I like to visit historical sites and sometimes such a place has a sad history. Such an experience of being in a place like that can feel strangely chilling. I haven't been to any past battle grounds but I have been to World War II concentration camps. I felt sick, sad and chilled with horror when I visited in infamous concentration camp in Poland. In Hawaii I visited Pearl Harbor and found out more about the day the Japanese bombed it. I feel that this event changed what happened in World War II. I have been to some places like Anne Frank's House and Corrie Ten Boom's in the Netherlands. These have felt strange too with a heartfelt emotion. I feel sorry for those that were killed or suffered in history like during World War II. The old battle ground in the Philippines sounds chilling and scary.

I've been quite a few battle sites in Scotland, they were quite old though so they didn't have the sense of recent dread you found at the younger battlegrounds.
I've also been to Stiklestad here in Norway, there was supposedly a big battle there about a 1000 years ago (in 1030), so that was even older.
