I was told that if we want to make our topics hot, we need to give ones that others argue. What kind of topics can be argued? He said the ones that go against the guidelines. I am confused. Doesn't everyone here abey the guidelines? if not, your mylot acount number may be cancelled !Besides, if a person gives that kind of controversial discussisons all day, we will think it's boring! So, can you tell me what kind of topics can be argued? Thanks a lot!

The topics that just need an answer to a question are not QUALITY discussions. MyLot is not for questions and answers. There are other sites for that. Here we must DISCUSS if we want to do what myLot pay us to do.

If a topic is a guideline violation it will be deleted by admin regardless of whether it is in the 'hot' topics or not. If arguing involves flaming then it will also probably cause the users involved to see a drop in their user reputation (the star) because flaming is not allowed here.
Why should we have to argue here on myLot? Here we can discuss a topic without arguing surely? There is enough of that offline without coming here to do it too!
If you look at the list of 'hot' topics you will see gfor yourself what kind of discussions they are. They get there because they have a lot of activity (responses and comments) within the first 24 hours after they are posted. The topics vary but arguing is not the reason that they get there. Some of the most humorous topics make it there because they are FUN and that is what many of us look for as a distraction from offline upsets.
