Here there is a new rule. That is it is not allowed to use the cellphone or even talk with a bluetooth when you are driving. I think this is a good rule. At least it is a method to reduce the possibilities of the car accidents. Since you can't focus on driving when you are talking in a call.

It is great! They should have made the rule long ago.Drivers must concentrate on the road when they are driving. It is the best way to avoid a car accident. But then,a good rule is not nearly enough, the crux of the matter is how to carry out.

I think they are trying but it isn't working! It took us a very long time to get most of us to wear seat belts.

Not sure if I agree about the Blue tooth, but to drive and talk on the phone should be not allowed everywhere as well as texting while driving, and it should be manditory if they need to do so, either use a Blue tooth like allowed and enforced around here, or pull off on the side of the road somewhere. No phone call should ever be worth yours or someone else's life.

Govt. should punish those people who are used cell phone when driving because now most of the accident occurs due to this. It is not allowed and the person who are doing this at least they should pay the fine.

Hi. There are new rules that do not allow drivers to use cellphones while they are driving. i understand this rule because there have been a lot of accidents that involve drivers texting or using their cellphones while driving. This rule was just made so that there would be lesser accidents and lesser deaths. Remember, that call can wait. So, stick to driving safely! happy mylotting.

In my area, it is against the law to be talking on your cell phone, or texting, while driving. You area allowed to talk on the cell phone if you have hands-free. There have been accidents of sorts all over the news because of cell phone use, & I have heard about a train accident because of texting.
From my own personal experience, I did almost get into a car accident with someone who was talking on their cell phone. I ended up next to them waiting for the green light, & I just turned up my music so they would have lots of trouble hearing whoever they were talking to.

In my home country it is illegal to drive along whilst using a mobile phone. A phone conversation can divert the driver's concentration from the road therefore it is very dangerous. I think this is a very sensible rule to keep road drivers safe. The driver can stop in permitted space to make a mobile phone call or receive a mobile phone that is ringing. He or she must be stopped in the car whilst on the call.

It's not allowed here but a lot of people do it anyway. It is allowed if you have a proper handsfree and don't have to do anything but push a button to answer, there's some rule about how the handsfree should be connected to the phone.
Research has shown that driving while talking is as bad driving while drunk. Most people won't drive when they're drunk but they don't seem to believe that they will get at unconsentrated when they talk and fumble with the mobile phone.

I think in our country there's already a law that prohibits the use of cell phone while driving. But I guess implementing the law is the hardest part for a government unless they will give harsh punishment if caught. It's good that you have such a law. It's for the good of the drivers and the pedestrians as well.

You are absolutely right. In our country this rule is followed very strictly and the rule broker is heavily punished. And if the phone is so much important then better you stop the vehicle at then talk. So that the possibilities of the accidents is reduced.

In our country, this has been a rule but I'm not so sure regarding the use of Bluetooth. Even if this has been a rule, I can still see so many people not abiding this, and it's true that this is one of the many causes of car accidents.
With regards to talking to phone with blue tooth, I think it is not that dangerous. It is just like your talking to someone in your backseat. But whether using the phone with blue tooth or not, safety driving is in the driver itself, if he/she has the right concentration and precautions to avoid accidents.

We do have this rule in India. Though I wouldn't go as far as to say that no one follows it, I find that many people still use a cell phone while they are driving. I am more worried about the two wheeler drivers with their heads bent at an awkward angle trying to talk on the cell phone and drive.

I had to refresh my memory a bit about this topic as it became law here a few years ago.
Here in CA it depends on how it's being used. Talking directly on the phone itself isn't allowed. Neither is texting (this includes reading, writing, and sending text). A hands free device on the other hand is allowed (so long as both ears aren't covered), but only for drivers that are 18 and over. Any driver under this age is prohibited to do so.
You can read more about it at this link here: http://dmv.ca.gov/cellularphonelaws/
However, even with this being a law it doesn't stop some drivers. They still text or talk while driving without a hands free device anyway.
Happy mylotting!

We are not allowed to use mobile phones in cars, and this has been the case for many years. In fact, I think that it has been the law ever since mobile phones were invented and brought to the country. I have a lot of friends who try to send text messages while they're driving, and I just think that it is completely stupid to do so, as you never know when you're going to be able to see anything coming, and this might mean that you end up crashing and doing something that you didn't mean to, which might have an impact on both your own life and on someone else's.

It has always been against the law to use your cellphone while driving, as anyone who engages in this act is a danger to himself and other commuters on the road. The best thing to do is to get a bluetooth device or enable a loudspeaker on the phone so as not to be distracted from the main road. A lot of lives has been lost from cellphone related accidents.

Yeah, AT&T now has at least a couple of commercials out encouraging folks NOT to text while driving---one with a guy who had a traumatic brain-injury because somebody was texting while driving, another with a girl mourn her friend who was killed instantly in a car crash.
Just a reminder that--tho everybody's normally following the rules and not running out in anyone else's path unexpectedly--you always have to be vigilant and err on the side of safety because life isn't forced to follow 'rules'.

This is definitely a good law.Cause while using mobile phone or cell phone while driving can make your concentration derailed form the driving. This not only put you in risk but also the passenger of the car who are in front of you.Cause you can also hit the car which is in front of you. So,i appreciate the law and we also should not use cell phone while driving.
