Judging system during the Pacquiao-Bradley fight: Is it fair?

I have watched the replay of the fight twice and it is really obvious that manny should have been the winner. This is no bias as such that I believed Pacquiao lost his recent fight to Marquez. On this fight, I agree that Bradley was dominating during the last few rounds but I do not believe those were enough to win the fight.

Boxing judging isn't fair but the problems are so numerous that it would take a giant overhaul to sort it all out. Firstly judges need to be held accountable for terrible scorecards. There was a fight in Germany a few months back between Firat Arslan and Alexander Alexeev, it turned out one of the judges (Juergen Langos) who scored the bout to Alexeev was also "friends" with the fighter on Facebook. Personally things like that need to be stopped. Judges who are friends with a fighter need instantly kicking out of the sport. Bad judging should see the judge needing to explain why he scored a bout the way he did. Secondly the scoring system needs a revision. A close round with a winner is 10-9 and a dominant round with a winner is also generally scored 10-9 (barring a knockdown). A clear round should be 10-8 and not 10-9, it would mean that the scores reflected dominant rounds. For example Juarez v John I had 6 very dominant rounds by John and 6 close rounds that seemed to be scored to Juarez, had the clear rounds been scored 10-8 the dispute about that bout wouldn't have been as big as it was. Also and this is the biggest one, the judges need to be paid fully by the commission out of a "judging pot" and not have anything to do with the promoter. The commissions need to come down hard on suspect judges and need to stop the same judges judging the same fighters. Whilst I understand we don't have a huge number of good judges the bad ones keep standing out, such as Mr Langos (mentioned above) Ian John Lewis and Pierre Benoist. These judges need a lot of questions to be asked of them and need to prove that they are fit and proper for the job of officiating boxing. And finally, judges who are seen to favour a certain sort of fighter (whether it's based on race, style or just being a big name) also need to be kicked out of the sport immediately. A judge should be completely impartial.

I believe racism is another part. See what happened to the fight between Mayweather and Dela Hoya? That was a clear fight for the golden boy but he still suffered a defeat. Whatever may happened to the boxing field, the victim would always be the fans who were fooled and the boxers who pay life to entertain the fans.

NO ONE thinks Pacquiao deserved to lose that fight. The judges are under review because everyone thinks he was robbed.

Absolutely. None even bradley knows he lost the fight. It is clear in his after fight interview that he can completely claim the victory. All he say is that he believe he won.

Like millions of people around the world, especially Filipinos and foreign viewers, I knew that the fight clearly was Manny's; but the judges believed otherwise. Anyway, some have speculated that the previous fight had to go to Bradley in order to honor Manny's contract with Bob Arum, which stated something about a rematch with Bradley. And since this is the last year of Manny with manager Bob Arum, he has to make good of this contract. This is somewhat of a delaying tactic, since by November on their rematch fight, the winner has to be Manny in order for either a Pacquiao-Mayweather or a Pacquiao-Marquez fight to be possible. After these speculations, I was quite disappointed not only after the judges decided to declare Bradley as the winner, but also that this boxing sport is going dirty and Manny had to be the victim or at least, had to take part in this.

You've got a very deep insight there my friend. I really dont understand why they had to manipulate the sports for money. WBO rescoring got manny as the winner but in no way can take the belt away from bradley. so sad.

A pleasant day Danzylop, I have watched the first telecast of the Pacquiao-Bradley fight and it is really obvious that Pacman should won on that battle. However, as the days goes by after that event, slowly taking place, perhaps, God has a more wonderful plan for the boxing champ. Since he was being directed into another type of life. Although, it cannot be compared to his boxing career. On that fight, the truth will prevail and God will gonna work for it to come out who is really the winner on that fight. Hence, maybe this is just a test of faith for the boxing champ's career.

I guess Manny has to focus on one thing. He cannot get all the fame in the world. He should be contented as a boxer and helping people is not made only through politics. Plus, I hate the way he pretend that he reads the bible. I dont think he can be a good preacher.

I didn't watch the fight. I didn't find it interesting. Many people said that it was scripted. I think I have to agree with them. I guess the reason why they make the decision is to have a rematch. Rematch is equal to more money. It is not just a sport but a business. Remember Las Vegas is a Sin City. That is what I've heard. Correct me if I am wrong.

The fight was not scripted actually. The scoring was doubtful. I saw manny's effort to defeat the enemy but manipulation came in so we have to wait for the next fight to see who deserves the belt.
