Hello friends,I want some help regarding subject chemistry. If we want to react magnesium with oxygen,we need to heat it.The product formed is Magnesium oxide. But before we heat,we need to clean magnesium ribbon. It is beacues there is a coating of Magnesium oxide. It is a bad conductor of heat.so we should clean it.My question is How Magnesium oxide is naturally formed with out heating magnesium.Magnesium oxide is present as layer of Magnesium. How did this happen? Can you friends clear my doubt?

Magnesium oxide could potentially be formed in nature in a few ways. Possibly under high pressure, since high pressure circumstances can mimic high heat. It could also have formed close to the core at high heats or even possibly from a foreign object (from outer space) and have heated up while entering the atmosphere. Our planet also used to be super heated so that could also have created MgO.

i don't understand your question but magnesium oxide is could be formed by corrosion as pure metal have natural tendency to form oxide
