I have read a lot about these things,& I thought these things are just superstitious bragging by over imaginative people. People say to enjoy lucid dreams as they are completely free to move, fly anywhere. but my experience was really frightening. I don't know why this had to happen to me,recently i started having really terrorizing dreams. until now, i had 4 nightmares. I can't explain everything, because i don't remember it properly,i am just trying to recollect. nightmare 1 Ok,i was tired and had gone to bed very late, that night(weekend), i don't remember, closing my eyes, all the things just blacked out,i felt a very heavy load pressing dme. I tried to inhale but I couldn't,I tried to scream "Amma Amma" (malayalam for "Mom Mom"),but no sound!!! came out. I tried to overcome the force and tried to get up,but i couldn't move even my finger. For seconds i tried to gasp for air,but then the terror of this situation ate away my will to fight,i closed my eyes as it was the only thing i could do,i thought i just died. There was no heavenly doors that opened at me or ground cracking to drop me to the abyss.i opened my eyes and everything was clear(lights in hall).i was just exhausted i was not sure that, i will be able to move,i didn't feel that force on my body, but i didn't take any chance,i wanted to leave the cot and move towards the door(i always leaves it open),so i gathered all my strength and managed to fell off from cot,i was so exhausted that i couldn't walk.i felt the urge to make it to the hall. I crawled to hall and managed to catch some breath, i didn't have the courage to look behind, stood up and looked at the clock,it was 3:30 morning. I made up my mind to go to my mom's room & wake her up,and tell her what just happened. So i walked towards the her room but something just stopped me and i fell on my chest and i was dragged towards my cot. My room had become a black hole, sucking me into it, had to turn back, and face my fears. so i gave up and just slide,i saw myself sleeping(breathing,so not dead),before just falling over my body. I realized that it was just a dream, but was so frightened that I wanted to leave my room and run to my moms room. I opened my eyes and and looked around.Again i tried to stand up,but i couldn't!!! The same thing had happened again.Everything was the same until the clock,it was 1:00. But i was sure that I went to sleep well after 1:00,so it's just another dream, this time nothing happened ,nothing pulled me back to my bed. Now,that I was sure that i was in dream,i had two choices to go back to my room or go to my mom's room.I feared that if i go to my mom's room,i will again get sucked into my body. But i took the chance and walked to her bedroom."black out" ...STILL IN MY BED PARALYZED"!!!i thought there was no end to this,i wanted to waked for real,i wanted daylight. I started to think about, what can i do differently to end this recurring nightmare. So the next time,i as in the hall,i called for Mom,.She switched on the lights, i eagerly ran to her room.i said to her i had a bad dream. My little sister also had woken. My mom scolded me for not sleeping on time.SUDDENLY i felt suffocation as did my mom and sis.there was no air...... I was so confused.i thought i was already dead, This thing continued for 5 or 6 times each time their is only a minor change in the script. 6th time i pinched myself,I felt the pain,so i was sure that finally I am in the real world, anyway i watched some TV and slept on sofa. MORNING 9 something...i was still in my bed,so.... have you ever experienced something like this?...i have had the same dream 9with some minor variations) 3-4 times till now. ................................................................. Pardon me for my bad English.i never posted such a long para anywhere; no insults PLEASE!!!

I get sleep paralysis after 90% of my lucid dreams. Sometimes I get multiple false awakenings when I try to wake up out of the dream by force. I tried to have out of body experience a few times but didn't really work out.

Easy, just try to focus on moving one single finger instead of moving the whole body or opening your eyes. It'll break the paralysis

same here more on sleep paralysis. How do you wake up? I find it difficult and wanted to cry cause it's no longer good. One incident that terrify me is when i wake up with the exact scene i saw in my dream. I asked my mom if she heard me calling for help to wake me up and she answered "no" She didn't bother waking me up since i was comfortable sleeping.

I only had Out of body experience once or twice, but when i did have,it was so convincing. It is based on the concept of body and soul.So a person with no belief in soul or ignorant about it, will not have such experience. I recommend not to try it,its a ghostly experience. Thanks you for the reply.

The sensation of being awake but being unable to move definitely sounds like sleep paralysis, but I've never heard such a long chain of falling back into dreaming and then waking up unable to move again. Sleep paralysis is typically harmless, and it happens to lots of healthy people. Basically what happens is you wake up or come partially awake and your brain is still sending signals to your body not to move like it does while we sleep (so we don't act out our dreams or thrash around too much). I've experienced it a few times myself, and it can be very scary. It feels like a huge weight is pressing down on your chest and that you can't breathe (you can and you are, but you feel like you can't because you're not in control of your lungs) and all of your limbs feel impossibly heavy and you can hardly make a sound. Like I said, it's typically harmless and it happens to loads of otherwise healthy people, but it can be a sign of a more serious disorder such as Narcolepsy. What follows after sounds like series of false awakenings, and I've had those myself too. I'll "wake up" and get out of bed, start looking for something or going about my daily routine and then something off-color will happen and I will either realize that I'm still dreaming (and possibly fall into another false awakening) or wake up for real. I've had some very long strings of false awakenings as well. And for the record, I've pinched myself inside a dream, felt pain, and yet have still been dreaming! lol The definition of a lucid dream is simply a dream in which you are aware of the fact that you're dreaming, there's no dream control or happiness included by default! I've had hundreds of them myself and they have hardly ever been scary, but I've never experienced much dream control. So I haven't exactly been able to realize that I'm dreaming and then bend the dream-world to my will... I have a very stubborn dream-world! Only recently I had a dream where I was having a nightmare that myself and several others were trapped in a convention center with huge invisible monsters outside. I realized I was dreaming during the nightmare, and quietly told myself that for the moment I was just along for the ride. When the nightmare was getting intense, and the monsters had us cornered, I started singing and dancing to "call for help". I called down a dragon who destroyed the monsters and whisked us away on his back to safety. That was really the only time I'd ever been able to turn a nightmare around into a triumphant dream when lucid dreaming. Other times, I just screamed at myself to wake up and I was able to. Most of the time when I lucid dream I just wind up along for the ride, sort of running around observing and exploring, because I there's very little that I can control. I've moved on from a false awakening into a lucid dream before. I dreamed that I "woke up" and went to the bathroom. For some reason I felt (even though I was aware that it was 1-2 in the morning) compelled to clean the toilet. I scrubbed and scrubbed, and it only seemed to grow worse. Finally, I realized that I wasn't awake. I dropped the brush and ran out the door, and found myself in an underpass tunnel where I did gymnastic flips through some piping for kicks.

I think false awakening is the scariest part of lucid dreams, you are very eager to get out of the dream, but when you try,you will fall into endless recurring cycles of dream logic. After a false awakening,it seems so real that,it multiplies excitement,if we do pinch you will feel the pain, and it is very hard for you to check time, because we go partially blind. thanx for response

It's certainly different for everyone. I've been able to wake myself up by running my dream self back into bed with a mighty leap! False awakenings are never scary for me, sometimes they're pretty comical. I find myself flipping lightswitches and mocking any dream characters I stumble across. Sometimes I get stuck in a cycle, but most times I eventually break free before becoming too frustrated.

I was also experienced lucid dreams many times and enjoyed the situation since i was able to manipulate my imaginary experiences in the dream environment. But there are instances that lucid dreams turn into sleep paralysis and may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations and an acute sense of danger. Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening because of the vividness of such hallucinations. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful or dream-like objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision. I woke up sweating and my pulse rate is abnormal. It feels like your soul was separated to your body for a moment. Really scary. Anyway, i also created similar discussion might wanna check it.

Yesterday also I had a lucid dream.I was suffocating, I opened my eyes and saw bed sheet around my neck,i was able to move and quickly got rid off it.I wanted to drink some water, so i went to fridge and opened it,there was no water,i drank some tap water and felt relieved,On my way back to bed,i had realized that i had set my spare bed adjacent to my cot,so that i won't fall down during my my dreams, but that was not there.Oh white light!!! ok,i was still in my bed,but i was circumspect.what if it was just another dream,i sat on my bed ,checked for the bed on the floor and there was it.I was so relieved, because i didn't fall into recurring dream in dream situation. I went to the hall, looked around for confirmation,Suddenly the many door of my house opened and saw thick white fog outside.Ok Dream!!! I knew it was another dream and started to think about how i can get out of it.I don't remember anything after that!

The thing about lucid dream is that you can become what you aspire to be which is an unexplainable wonder and something like that. You just had nightmares.. some old folks could relate it with maanthrigam in our country, that's just stupid. These dreams are mostly about the deeper inner fears you have and it's possible that you haven't realised it yet. So, just fight it with all you got, the spartan way(300). If it drags you, just curse it,profane, but show it what you are, what you have, try to drag it, use ur force.. well that's what I want to say. The funny thing is this could be true. I recovered from one with just guts, seriously. Arent you tired of these, just lash out. Hope you heard, otherwise these are just plain stupid. Most of all, this is sparta :)

Dear, thankyoucomeagain I like your spartan spirit, but its impossible to do anything that I want to do,in such a dream.I always wanted to be a hero who meets his fears head own.I don't have fear of going into the dark.If I see a ghost(symbolic),I will go near it to have a closer look, this is my habit in real life. But all these fears that tried to haunt me in real life and failed miserably are taking their revenge on me,in the dream world, where they lay the rules. If they want me to a rock,i will be a rock.If they want me to stop moving,I will stop moving.I don't have control over anything. "Go take them down before they take you down attitude is not working there"
