Evening mylotters,
I have been up and down this roller coaster, with the many things that come because of being into a block section and because there's a lot of pressure, i just feel lazy on doing our thesis, but i know i have to, otherwise, i'll cram when the time comes, it just always comes back to us anyway.
I guess what i am trying to know with the help of this discussion is that how have you overcome your thesis writing?...do you have some tips to share, sound off:))))

Make one step at a time. Divide the whole topic into sub topic so it would be easier for you to finish a sub topic before consolidating it into the whole topic. This way you would make small wins and celebrate.
Just keep focus and evrything will fine.

The best thing I have found to help with thesis writing is to think about what you want to say and mix it in with what you have to say. Another suggestion would me to think about when you were learning it and see how you can simplify it as much as possible without lessening the information you need in it.

thesis writing is scary for some people because of the wrong impression it gives to students. thesis writing is a culmination of the learning process in college or graduate studies. it wants to show how you gain knowledge and grasp the fundamental points of a specific field. it also allows a student to focus on one topic and discuss such using the theories and methods learned. do not reinvent the wheel, simply start off from what you know.

I feel you! I'm exactly taking up my thesis subject this semester. And I really feel that things don't go on our side. We and my other group mates we're having a hard time to finish our thesis because we can't get enough information from supporting our papers. And we're depressed by it. And we even think that we would fail on this subject. :)

Oh, that's one of the most nightmare experiences in my college life. Maybe because, i'm just the only one from our group who's well-associated to writing. In fact we are 7 in the group, and if i'll ask them to this thing, this and this, they'll pass their outputs. Unfortunately, their works are of low quality, so their work will just be my work. 95% of our research paper was actually my effort.
Sleepless nights, experienced cramming in a way that i worked continuously from the school to our house and just eventually noticed that the sun had risen already. Holy! ! really a bad experience. Given also that we just have a month to furnish it.
I don't really know if it is right for me to say that i overcome it in the most successful way but Here are some tips:
1. Most of us, just take notes from books to books and forget the function of bibliography. Never miss to write your sources. This is crucial.
2. Take it slowly or in equal effort at a time for you not to cram and carry heavy loads at the end.
3. If you're thinking of having an english critique, go for a friend or accessible person. Be sure that he/she is not hot-tempered, he'll just add more pressure hahaha.
4. Always review thesis guidelines, (i think there are differences between research paper, thesis and dissertations)
5. Look at your money always. Doing thesis is costly. :)
6. Prepare well your conceptual framework, this will greatly affect your success or failure.
7. Don't go for topics that you cannot hold properly. Accessibility is always a factor.
Hope these can help. Good luck..

Wow, I must say if it is not the most difficult part of college life, then I can't think of anything else that could be. But anyway, no matter how difficult thesis writing could be, it would still be worth the stress, the pressure, the sleepless nights, as long as you do it well. You just have to be determined and eager to finish what you have started. Ignore the fact that you will have to spend most of your time awake, just think about how much you could get some sleep and relaxation when you are done with it. Hang out in the library to find the sufficient materials needed for your references, as well as to concentrate well on writing your paper. But you really don't have to take it VERY seriously all of the time; let your hair down for a short while so as to be free from such stress you may have. Most of all, cooperate with your group mates if you have some, and save as much money for the printing jobs because there will be a huge lot for it. (By the end of our semester, I was totally broke because of the thesis writing we have done, haha.) Good luck, and may you make good in your thesis paper. :)

I used to dedicate a full day to research and write a few pages. I think you really need to get focused if you want to write an excellent thesis. Fortunately, my hard work paid and me and my group mates got a certificate of best thesis during graduation ceremony.
