Just wondering how many people here will pick up money they find on the street. I'm the girl who does but only if it doesn't look too stupid. What I've been doing since mid April is finding coins when I go out shopping and other things and then putting them in a seperate piggy bank from my other loose change. So far I have about $4 or $5 in 2 months. Not much but it doesn't take a lot of effort to bend over and pick them up either if they are in your path :)
Anyone else here doing the same? :)

Hi... I don't see anything wrong with it. You find a coin in the street, its unclaimed, so make it yours. I don't actually go lookin' for them. But yes, if I found one, I'll not feel any shame in picking it up. You've made a good deal out of this, though. All the money that we save helps us in the end... Take care...

Hi, I don't see anything wrong with it either but you know some people give strange looks as if there is, maybe they are jealous I found it and not them who knows! :D I'm getting there with it, I hope to have $50 by the end of the year :D

Oh thank you or liking my nickname :D
I think people get too jealous of others a lot which is a shame. If they were just happy for people then good things will come to them too. So I'll just keep finding coins and collecting til I reach the end of the year and see how much I got :D
Take care :)

I used to pick money up sometime when i did walking on the side walk. But since i often drive a motorbike when going out, i never have a chance to pick money up more.
It is nice when you can get money while walking, however i can't do save like you...

It's like that for a lot of people, just need some disipline that's all. I like to day dream of all the nice things I'd like to have or go to for a holiday so I stash it and don't touch it :D

It's a shame but if you are going shopping or to a restaurant or anywhere just have a look you never know :)
Haha I like to save up all my money, I've always been good at it since I was little :)

I still get to do that every now and then. Well, if 'every now and then' situates me to do something like that.
When I was young, I always get to pick up money, small or big in amount, on the street. I would be so happy when I get to pick up high amounts of course, but I still have that eager feeling upon picking up change.
There was a time when I was still employed that on my way to work, I often get to cross the parking lot and I saw from a distance a piece of paper being blown by the wind. Upon getting close, I realized that it was a Php 1000 bill.
I have this tendency, whenever I get to pick up money, to lift it up high so that if ever someone who was looking for it can see that I found it and they can simply approach me and ask for it.
So when I did that with the Php 1000 bill, looked around if someone was searching for it, nobody approached me for it.
Since I thought that it was a blessing, I went to the convenient store and bought three big bottles of soft drinks because by the time I would arrive at work, it would already be lunch time and my colleagues would enjoy a refreshing drink.
I also told them about what happened and oddly enough, one of them said that he wished that it was him that got 'lucky' instead. I wonder if he would share the blessing as well though..
And there are other instances before when I was really young that I get to pick up a lot of money. I think most of that happened when I was still in school, from grade school to being a university student. I guess I just have to regain that belief that money simply is easy to pick up on the street (^_^ )
One other thing, I somehow have this idea wherein money should be spent and not stepped on.

Thinking about it, I made this wrong assumption before that I hope anyone who gets to read this takes into consideration.
When I was still studying in the University, it was one of those days when I was on my way and almost late. When I got to the entrance of our college building, a saw a hundred peso bill by the gutter. As I mentioned in my post before that I have grown to habituate whenever I get to pick up money, I raised it up so that anyone can see that I have found money and if anyone who is looking for it sees me raising his or her lost money, they would simply approach me and ask for it. When I did that, nobody was around so it probably fell off some student who was on her way to class perhaps.
By the time classes were over, I was sharing this story to another classmate of mine and we were in the library. I was really amazed with the stroke of luck that came to me while my classmate was a bit skeptical. As we were walking in the library in the Humanities section, I again found another hundred peso bill. So that would be two bills in one day.
Somehow it made me worry so I with the suggestion from another classmate, I gave it to her and she went to the lost and found. Yet she came back, still with the hundred peso bill that I found and said that the person who was at the Lost and Found said that anyone can simply claim it for one wouldn't really write their names on any bill if ever they lose it. In short, we should just enjoy it with a nice lunch perhaps. Still, it got me worried.
A few day passed and I was on my way home and it was raining. When I got home, I realized that my phone slipped out of my pocket.
Now, I don't mean that every luck, as others could put it, has a price. I thought like that before in that situation wherein I got worried that being too 'lucky' has it's price. Apparently, it was my fault to worry and doubt the luck that I have received in that incident and because of this doubt, I eventually fulfilled the worry that I myself caused.
So, I just felt like sharing ('_^ ) and want to point out, do not ever doubt!

Wow another great story there. You are super honest that way but there are so many dishonest people that will come and say that they lost that 100 pesos. The person from lost and found is correct, at least they were also an honest person for not just taking the money for themselves. I do think as well like you said, you had doubts on your luck that you lost your phone. I think if you just thought you were a really lucky person and kept thinking that it would have all been OK.
But it's still amazing that you found 2 bills in one day. Super lucky! ^-^

Wow great story! When I find notes when I'm out with someone I treat them to a coffee or something to celebrate our luck. It's been a few minths since that last happened though. If it's just coins I put it in my pocket and then straight to the piggy bank.
I think ou have a great outlook on it and it was nice of you to share it with your work friends. I also think/believe that for someone to say they wish they had found it seems a little negative, they should be happy for you to have found it and to have shared something with them :)
Yes just keep aware and look and you should find some, good luck :)

Haha very good. What I mean by looking stupid is say going on your hands and knees to get a coin from under a counter that you've seen. I've seen them but it would look stupid if I did it :D

If I am alone, then I will pick up whatever money I find on the street or in a store, etc. If I am with my little one, though, then I will point out the money to her and let her pick it up as long as it is not in a dangerous location. She gets so excited about finding even a penny, and she is very proud when she gets home and can put it in her piggy bank - watching the joy that it brings her is priceless.

Oh that is fantastic! I bet that you were very proud presenting her with the money, and that was a lot of money, especially for a child to find! It is great that she spent some on you, and I bet that made you feel even more special. Sometimes it is the little things that we do that can be the best memories that we have, especially when they are doing something special with a loved one.
Of course, if I saw a $20 bill under a counter as an adult, I wouldn't care how silly I looked crawling under there to get it!

Well it certainly stuck in my memory, I was very proud of myself, I felt I was useful for finding it :)
Haahaaa that would be so funny, you could just say you dropped it under there but I'm sure you'd still get some strange looks. Maybe this is one of the reasons to have children! :D

True, if I had a little one I'd do the same thing. And it doesn't look as silly if they crawl under counters :D When I was really little I found $20 in the supermarket, I crawled under the counter and grabbed it. My mum had no idea what I was doing until I gave it to her, I was so pleased with myself. She of course spent some on me :)

Hi, I think it's to do with luck but also being aware of your surroundings. I think most people when they are walking wander off into lala land and don't take notice of things. When I walk I also look where I'm walking, I never step in dog poo because I pay attention :D

I nearly always pick up money wherever I find it, unless, like you said, it looks stupid. It's also not worth putting myself in danger for, like stopping in traffic!
Sometimes one can find quite a bit here and there just by staying alert. It's kind of a game for me to see how much I can find when I'm out and about.

Me too! It's a fun game to see how much I can find in a day. Yeah stopping traffic for 5 cents isn't the best idea :D I was also thinking when you see money under counters and you have to go on hand and kneew to grab it too. I probably would try and be discreet if it was a note though :D

Hello there,
Indeed I do
Last time, when I was walking on the street I picked two coins.
In my country, that is something.
Withouth those coins, you cannot be able to buy the cheapest candy.
The other day, also picked some cents as well.
I do know if people deliberately throw those cents away.
How I wish this goes on and on

I know I think they do throw them away for sure or can't be bothered picking them up. That's good for me I hope they do it more often :D It's good that you pick them up too, even the smallest amounts can add up, I don't think people realise this or maybe they just don't care :)

Though I don't think that I've collected as much change that I have found laying on the ground as you have picked up, I simply cannot walk by a coin that is on the ground without picking it up.
In fact, a couple years ago there were a ton of pennies on the road in front of my in-law's house and they thought that I was completely crazy because I kept going out onto the street when there weren't cars coming to pick up pennies off of the road.

Haahaa yeah people over there just toss those pennies our their car windows I'm sure of it but if you keep collecting your bound to get a few $ out of it. Luckily here our smallest currency is 5 cents and people don't want those either so I pick them up

I never ever see any money on the street lol! If i did i would probably be picking it up as well!
over here, it is a common joke to glue a £1 to the ground and watch people try and pick it up lol!

Haahaa some do that here too and I'm the stupid one that attempts it sometimes. My friends kids glued a coin right outside the front door, I tried to pick it up HAHA!
They should drop more coins for you to find! When I went to Scotland I found 10 pence at the airport parking lot, but that was it for me :)

Hi BabyCheetah: Personally I dont unless it is like a dollar or 2 dollar coin or a note of any kind. But walking the streets with my mother is embarrassing because it doesnt matter what it is she will pick it up... Over the yrs though she has collected quite a bit though like you have...

Hi,
You know I used to feel the same but really who is going to remember you after you pick up a coin. They will forget you in a minute and not give it a second thought. I don't care what people think if I find a coin I'll just pick it up. What I won't do though is go on my harnd and knees under counters to pick them up, that is embarrassing :D

I used to picks up money on the street even it is coins for me its still a money. When I picked money on the street I fell that I am very happy because I believe it brings goodluck to me. Also nowadays its hard to earn money so for me every penny are counted and if ever we found one on the street pick it up in the long run you can used it.

it's foolish not to. I don't care how it looks or who's looking. If I see a penny, I pick it up, that's a penny i didn't have before makes me a richer person. I usually don't find much of the good stuff, but I've found 20's and even a hundred before. Very rare tho. It's even rare to find a dollar bill.

That's what I think too, it's money I didn't have so now I have more :)
The best I've done are 20's about 2 or 3 times. When I went to the US I found a note folded up, to me they all look the same folded so I thought it was only a $1 bill but I was happy to see it was $10 :D
