Automated Teller Problems

Why do things like this always happen to me. It is very hot outside and I almost faint when I go out but I had to get the money from my paypal that I transferred to my bank and then get the last of the paperwork mailed for my low rental. I get to the bank and put my card into the machine punch in my number and it says the card is canceled. I tried it the second time and it said the same thing. I panicked, I need my money and I need to get that paperwork out before the post office closed. I went back home and called the bank. They told me account was fine. Perhaps then automatic teller machine just could not read the chip. I should go back and try a different machine. I am already exhausted and have a heat rash already. But I got to get this done. I don't even have my medical alert bracelet yet. I have just been too busy with the running around for the new apartment. So I practically crawl back. I try another machine and it worked. I then made the post office in just the nick of time. Have you ever had problems like this with automatic tellers?

Some of those machines seem to have difficulty interacting with others, even from their own bank..I had a few cards before, and on visits to the US with one particular card, had no problems with withdrawing money I needed or buying stuff in shops..and then I brought a newer card along, only to find that I should have notified the bank I was taking the card on a trip beforehand-they blocked the use of the card when it started being used for US Transactions as a security measure,in case someone had stolen it and taken a break abroad! I phoned to explain it was ME using the card, and they assured me the card would be back in action almost immediately..it wasn't working the next day I attempted to use it again,either..I had other methods of payment including traveller's Checks, thankfully, that got me through my trip, but I never used that card again after that experience..

mine card was from my bank too, that was not a great service from your bank, what if you didn't have travelers cheques.

Exactly..if you travel with only one form of money, you could be in trouble..some places only take cash, others take cards..travellers cheques can be a pain, but at least you can keep a track of your spending when using them..

Funny story that happened to me, I had to go to a trip with friends, so I tried to get some money from my account, and my card got captured by the machine. So I went to see the staff and told them what happened, that I didn't make 3 times the wrong password or anything, so they told me they would call me 2 days later ...and the day after that I found in my room (very messy) a new fancy bank card, and it was actually my new card, that had to replace my old OUT OF DATE card...what a shame when they called me about it and I had to explain it all ;)

Something like this happened to me at the beginning of this month..I hadn't noticed my "Old" card had an expiry date at the end of last month, and went shopping with it in the first week of this month, only to be told it had been declined..thankfully I wasn't buying much, and I had enough cash along for my purchases..I checked the bank envelope (That I hadn't opened!) that was still on the table, and found the new card was waiting for Me to notice it..All good again now!

Not with my ATMs, but I kow the feeling. Today I had to go on a whole bloody scavenger hunt to get my passport application all together, so I can go to Kitchener and apply in person. I ran around all over the place. Had to get an application Had to get pictures Had to get documents Had to find references Had to find a guarentor And with the new damn bus terminal in downtown Guelph, I get there just in time to miss my f____ing connection. No fault of my own. The stupid bus I was on was late!

I had one eat one about 12 years ago, it had gotten really worn! Now, about a year ago, I had one spit someone else's card OUT before I could use it - I took it inside the bank, nice person that I am!

They said they would try to call the person - if I were an evil person I could've taken it out and run up charges on it!

it really makes you worry, because after all it is our money not the banks money.

It is so hot here and like almost frying reaching 50C. We had problem in getting gas connection. It is individual connection for each house and we just run for it throughout the area and asking in some agencies. That places are in different direction. It is hard at that time even it is like winter. I got heated almost even in that climate. I can't bear both the cold and hot at that time. I am almost exhausted and in the verge of pain.

It is the first year for me here. It is hard to live here. I wonder how do these people here live. I would wet the floor, open all the windows and even running our fan and air cooler all day. Till it feels hot. I think the climate will change in one or two weeks.

a few yrs ago when cards were taken into the machine and pushed back after it was read, the machine kept my card and luckily they were just closing but i got their attention or it wouild have been stuck in there a long time over night or else someone else would get it if i left and it was still there. i would likely had tried sitting there all night.

only once I my card actually got eaten up by the machine, usually it will do that if you put your pin number in wrong three times.

I have same experienced like this. The worst scenario is when the automated machine eaten my card and never spit it again. It takes me the next day to get my card because the bank is already closed by the time it happened.:xxx It's happening here in our place, Atm problems and most cases is- "OFFLINE"

Not with an ATM. But when I got gas when I was in college in 2005 I pumped $20 in gas and they couldn't scan my card. They knew me so they let me go to the bank and then come back (27 miles) to pay them. That was aggravating. I was not late for school though because I always went early.

Things like these involving ATM happens to almost anybody who has an ATM card. It's part of the risk we have to take having to cope with the latest innovations of technology. There are times that I have to fall in line to withdraw funds when after reaching the machine and inserting my card, all of a sudden, it was offline. It was okay if it was just offline per se. But it is not okay if my card was inside the machine.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this problem. Finally you solved your issue with another ATM. Once i tried to withdraw money from ATM, but it is cancelled due to the machine fault. My account is deducted with that money, but i don't received it. I made a complaint about it to my bank and got that money after a week. This kind of issues are quite common while using ATM

that took a long time usually they tell me they will have to do the money count at the end of the evening and could tell me the following day.
