Yahoo I finally cut down for almost 50% off.
Last month for almost 2 weeks my daughter stayed in her father for vacation and I'm the only one who left here in my house. Yesterday I got my electric bill and what a surprised that it was down for almost %50 off. The reason for this is her laptop that used an alternate CRT monitor that's why my bill was so high before. The laptop monitor was broke and I have to connect it to the CRT monitor so she can used it. Now since I know the reason I told her that to use my own laptop and If I have extra money I will try to bring it to the computer center to fix.
Do you manage to cut down your electric bills? What are the things that you do?

After reading this post, I guess I`ll have to do some thinking about more savings in the electricity bill. Someone told me that the computer didn`t use much electricity and I have it on all the time. Maybe it`s time to change some habits.

My friend told me that the computer specially the CRT and CPU cost a lot in electricity that's why they manage to change their computer into laptop which cost to lower down their bills. I have laptops with me and to my daughters room only the LCD was broke and I have to fix it so the CRT will not used anymore.

Thanks, friend. I´ll turn my computer off every time I´m not using it. I will also check on the water heater for several coffees.

Good that your electric bill go down this time. Our electric bill is quite higher this summer due to electric fans that is always used all the time.We sued to turn off lights if there is no one around the place to save some energy even for a bit.

I think you can make use of energy saving bulbs so that you don't worry much about it.In my house I replaced all the local bulbs with energy saving ones and this was the one which I introduced in my house as a part of reduction in electricity bill. I hope this will help you a lot

That's great to hear lyn! I envy you! As much as I wanted to cut down my electric bill,it's hard to do it. My son works at night and when he sleeps on daylight and sometimes it's really hot,we have no choice but to turn on the aircon. It's better that way than for him to get some cough.

Maybe you should minimize the used of aircon and try to put on a timer ex. If it is turn on for 6 hours or more try to reduce it for a 4 hrs instead and used a electric fan just to make your room cool.

That's great, cutting the cost in half is really good. Especially that you figured out the reason, now you can probably maintain the cost down on next bills and you'll be on your way of a great saving. Just as we thought we managed to keep our electricity bill within our budget here, news came out that the rates will rise again next month!

Hi Lyn!
It is nice to hear that you could manage to cut down your electricity bill and you could know the reason for it.
We do not get many opportunities to cut our electricity bills. Here it is very hot and sultry so 'coolers' and 'Air-conditioners' remain 'on' and in summers our electricity bill goes 'north' and we may under our nose.

That's awesome that you cut your electric bill down that much just by that small change! Congratulations! I used to try to conserve energy in our apartment because I felt bad that my fiance's uncle had to pay for it, but he's been SO inconsiderate lately that I don't even care. I woke up to a bathtub full of dirty dishes he just decided to leave there knowing I had to take a shower. So now I could care less.

I do the same before factorial when I still have my old two door fridge that cost my bill too high that I also manage to sold it last two months ago. And it is really a big help to cut down the bills when you turn it off at night time.

Congratulations on the decrease in your electric bill, lynboobsy11. I imagine that there may be other reasons besides the CRT that caused an increase in your bill.
We constantly try to decrease our electrical usuage. We have every thing possible on a power strip, and when we're not using certain appliances or electronics, we turn off the power strip. It's the vampire electronics (those on standby) that consume a lot of electricity if you let them.
We turn off everything at night except for the refrigerator.

Congratulations on cutting down the electricity bills. I think you better try to fix the laptop monitor so that you can save some electricity. I am thinking of having some solar lights at home when I can afford it and that way I can save some electricity bills.

That's great you figured out what it was that was keeping the bill up and now you've just got to task yourself with figuring out how to get money to buy a new monitor for your daughter's laptop. There are many ways to keep the power down, keeping things unplugged even when not in use is one because even if they aren't being used, it takes power from the switch.

Wow, that was big cut down imagine half, it's good you have found the reason why you have huge electric bill.During the past month our electric bills soared up too, maybe because it's vacation from school. My children are always in front of the computer with the electric fan running too. Come night time, electric fans are busy up to the wee hours of the night. I just hope this rainy season the use of electric fans will be lessen.

Hey there lyn,
Well i think that better get that monitor fixed, my monitor now has problems too there are lines showing up, well it is a thin line and granted that it is an old computer i think that it is just fare it is starting to show some wear and tear but, when i do get the money i will make sure it gets a vamp because i cant afford to buy a new laptop and i have three old laptops that in just blogging kinda criteria is still in good shape just needs some few tweaks here and there.

It's great that you've learned the cause of your high electric bills. My electric bill raised this month, and how I would like to cut back on my electric consumption. I've recently bought an LED flatscreen, I hope it would somehow help me save on energy. Glad I don't use CRT monitors anymore, and I was told that laptops consume less electricity than desktop computers.
