Ancient aliens a possible explanation for God?

Have you ever watched the show Ancient Aliens on the history channel? It has brought new light to my religious beliefs. At a recent time I started to really read into more scientific stuff and the though of God became more and more of a science fiction to me. I didn't think it was possible with all of the other plants and possibility out there. But this idea makes sense. You can take a look at the show on the history channel site to get an idea of what I am talking about. The evidence is very strong! That the bible was written about aliens. Beings more powerful and technological advanced than us, we interpreted them as Gods and Angels and amazing! Just imagine in the 1800s or so if someone came in on a jet pack. They had the power of flight, they are an angel. They didn't know how to explain it and years later maybe we didn't understand it exactly right. Just pick up the bible and read and imagine the possibility that these prophets, angels, were actually ALIENS! No not little green men, but beings kind of similar to us. We could even be part of them. What's your opinion on the show and the ancient astronaut ideas?

It is a good show, and in my opinion, the theory is much more probable then "God". I do have one beef with the show though. I hate how they say that they know for sure that what they say is true. It kinda ruins their credibility. Because they can't know it is true, unless they have seen it. Great show though. I enjoy watching it, and I agree with a lot of the things they say. I think it is very likely that ancient people misinterpreted aliens as gods. I mean if you were alive back then what would you think?

I understand your beef there. To me it's the same as a religious person saying they believe in God because they have faith or just because they do. These people believe they are right because of evidence. People are found guilty of crimes all the time just based on evidence. No one actually saw it, but everything points to the same conclusion. It does make much more sense to me.

Evidence would be good thing in this case, but there is no evidence of either aliens or god

There has been talk of aliens starting or helping humanity but the question arises, where are they now? Did they get bored with humans and abandon us? Why then haven't they come back to check on us? Despite all the UFO reports, we have no evidence of alien life intelligent enough to contact us.

I don't know if we will ever get along. The one thing that might unite the human race is if aliens came down and tried to take over the Earth. And then, if they have the technology to get here, they probably would have the technology to wipe us out.

I honestly haven't been one that has really gotten into Ancient Aliens, but my husband and best friend watch it regularly and will suggest some of the theories that are revealed on there to me and I have to admit that many of those theories sound probable. Of course, I am also a scientist at heart and that in and of itself has made it difficult for me to believe the entire creation theory, despite the fact that I would consider myself to be a Christian.

it has much more proof to it than that of any religious book. Plus, why are humans so ignorant to beleive we are the only ones in this universe. There is, in my opinion, more chance that we are the result of an experiment done by a teenage alien tahn have a god creat us

I’m not sure I saw the same one or another that was similar but I can certainly give my opinion. Certainly the idea of speculation is an interesting venture but it should be noted that even these shows are nothing more than speculation. In other words, there is no proof or scientific evidence to support it. It is very entertaining and interesting to use our imaginations in this way (this includes the producers of the shows on the history channel) but it would be wrong I think to suggest to another person that what is being presented is factual. If we were to coin the word alien to mean Mexicans on the USA border, angels on the earth or even food we ingest into our body as being alien then I suppose it somehow is comparable. However, the idea that we might replace God, our own spirituality and our history as a human species to revolve around visits from physical beings from another planet though an amusing thought really belongs in the science fiction section (or TV media section) and definitely not in the religious or scientific section. As a mylotter too, I am somewhat concerned for you natnickeep that you would allow such a broadcast to affect your religious beliefs. Anyone can believe anything they want of course but when someone makes up evident that God is a physical alien visitor, it is very misleading and so very untrue. In my opinion that show though entertaining shouldn’t have been put on the history channel. It devalued it.

What I like about this kind of thinking, is that it attempts to ask "Where did religion come from?" Contrary to what should be the place where such a question should be studied, they instead completely ignore it in churches, temples and synagogues. At best, they go back only an irrelevant short time into the past, instead of going back all the way to a discussion of any beginnings of their religion's life. I have watched some episodes of this Ancient Aliens show and even read some books on the subject of ancient alien theories, among many other theories and studies of the origins of the Bible and religions. Of course I cannot confirm or deny any of the claims, as I was no witness living at the time this is claimed to have occured. However, I do like an open, rational study of why we are what we are, do what we do, and think as we think. I guess the idea that other "people" have evolved on another planet(s), is only far fetched until you look right in front of you at ourselves: Life on our own planet started as one celled organisms as far as we know, up to a point where we are building an international space station (meaning a lot more space travel and exploration is expected). So, in a way we are the proof of such a possibility.

Yes I agree. There is no way of knowing for sure, so we should be open to any possibility. And religion is very closed minded, because they fear the truth, they want to live in there own bubble, and think if it isn't in one book, then it can't be real. I say there is a whole universe out there that is not confined to one book. Until it is proven I'm willing to entertain any idea.
