Can anyone here tell me Who exactly is Melchizedek? the name Melchizedek is mentioned in the Bible in both its Old and New Testaments. Genesis 14:18-20 (18) And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (19) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: (20) And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. Hebrews 7:1-4 (1) For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; (2) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. (4) Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. now Let us review what the Bible clearly say about Melchizedek: =*= Melchizedek was Fatherless and Motherless!! =*= Melchizedek Has no beginning nor end!! =*= Melchizedek was Made like unto the son of God!! =*= his Ministry is eternal!! With attributes such as those stated above, he can only be divine, so, Who is this amazing Melchizedek? Is he the Other god of the Bible? What are your thoughts?

Strikes me that he was the King of Salem - and since the role of high priest often went along with the kinghood, it's all quite clear. The only thing I can't work out is: are you trying to stir the xtians up, or are you a religious fruitcake. Lash

Melchizedek, whose name means “king of righteousness,” was a king of Salem (Jerusalem) and priest of the Most High God (Genesis 14:18-20; Psalm 110:4; Hebrews 5:6-11; ). Melchizedek is somewhat mysterious because of his sudden appearance and disappearance in the book of Genesis. In Psalm 110, Melchizedek is seen as a type of Christ. This same theme is found in the book of Hebrews, where both Melchizedek and Christ are considered kings of righteousness and peace. Nevertheless if Melchizedek was told by the Bible to be the king of Salem then he is but human and could not be the same God as Christ. He is similar to Christ in many ways but I believe they are not the same and there could be no other God of the Bible, there is only one and that is Jesus Christ.

Hi Goddano, I don't think that anyone can tell you more than what you already know from reading this. Melchizedek was King of Salem and a priest of the most high God. That is all that is written about it. Who was this most high God? I'm sure that people will have different opinions but no one can say with certainty. Blessings.

Here is another reference I have found for you: Psalms 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. When scripture says Melchizedek the man was both Fatherless and Motherless, has no beginning nor end & was made like unto the Son of God, they all mean one & the same thing. This shows us that Melchizedek took the great Initiation or Baptism from an all-powerful Living Master – not anything like the Church Baptisms we see so often (too often!) these days. When one receives such an initiation, their original sin (past lives karma) is erased & shouldered by the Master. It is the same as having never been born (no father nor mother), as having no beginning nor end, as well as realizing you are indeed the Son of God - & everything that this implies!!! Do you see what I see? I see a spelling change between the old Hebrew (sort of!) scriptures & that used by Paul. Hmmm… I wonder why? This spelling is also used in other verses throughout Hebrews. I’m still trying to find the gospel verse where Jesus says that he is of the Order of Melchizedek when being questioned by the Pharisees. It seems many, if not all of the Prophets were of this Order. This name & this order is not mentioned in the Holy Qura’n – or at least, I cannot find it. So it begs the question, why would a devout Muslim post such a topic? To cause trouble? I don’t see it that way. In this scene of the distant past, we see Abram, a Jew, after a battle to free a large number of captives. After killing so many people, he’d certainly be in need of a blessing. But where did it come from? Not another Jew, but a foreigner! One who has different customs & different religious practices. One who was himself once great & victorious on many battlefields & called The Prince of Peace for his many bloodless victories. And yet the blessing was given & not refused. Now, we’re not exactly sure what this blessing involved, as none of us were there. I’m thinking that it may have been as much as an initiation or baptism, but not like we practice these days. However, that’s beside the point. What we, living here now, should be taking away from this the fact that, regardless of religious practices & the constant fighting over doctrine, dogma & everything in between, we should acknowledge that all religions worship the one same God – call him what you will - & that we should be encouraging each other on our individual paths, blessing rather than cursing. Can you imagine such a blessing in such circumstances? Shouldn’t we be more that way inclined? It would make for a pleasant change. “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One”!
