Hi mylotter,
I see that some people can not be tolerant to other religion. It is shown in local and international newsapaer. A certain religious group killed others for keeping their pure religious teachings. What is the root of this intolerance? Maybe, religious teachings.
I think the solution is a good education. Children should be teached to respect others. Children are the future of family and nation and world citizen.

Well I don't think its intolerance or because of the parents completely. A lot of religions in its self tell you to not accept other religions and that this one is the only right one so then a lot of people turn there back on other people.
But the parents do have to teach and show there kids it is okay for someone to think or feel differently like then you about any religion. You don't have to agree with that person and there faith but you should respect them for what they feel is right for them.
When I was growing up my parents never forced any religion on me and my brothers and they taught us it was okay to friends or family that didn't believe in the same thing as what we where being taught. Now that I'm a mom, we don't got to church and that is because me and my husband don't really believe in conforming and being part of a church and we have different views on religion. We are raising our daughter that it's okay to believe in God, or what ever it is you want to have a faith in or not in. But to respect others weather you like it or not. To be accepting of someones, skin color, faith, and sexuality to never judge someone and to be loving and kind to all.

That might not be accepted by leaders of religion but they can't tell you what you can and can't do. If you live in the US you can jump from one faith to another or not have a faith and those leaders have to respect that. It's that whole separation from church.

This is something that has always been very important to me. Yes, both of my children are baptized Catholic because I do believe that baptism is something that is very important. However, I also make sure that my children understand that just because a person is a different religion that we are doesn't mean that they are wrong and we are right. I've also made sure to explain to them that a lot of the reason for the conflict in the world today is because of the fact that there are a lot of people in this world that don't have any respect for the beliefs of other people.

I find when it comes to Islam, we are told to be tolerant of that and yet we hear of so many Muslims killing Christians in their own country and even family members that convert to Christianity. I do think that we have to tell of the hope that is in us, bu it hurts when there is so much intolerance allowed against Christianity and yet one has to be tolerant towards other religions.
I guess it is because us Christians do not up and go kill those who are not Christians and so people can say bad things against Christ with no consequence here on earth.

I get your point. But it is not easy to say like that in front of other religions that is a mayority in a country. Many Christians are victims of arrogance of majority of islam religion in one country, and so in other country, many moslems are victims of Christian religion religion

Simple, but it does not mean as others say that all religions lead to heaven. WE all are only saved through Jesus Christ. Stating that fact, I do not believe it is right to say horrible things about your religion just as it is not right to say horrible things about mine. We can examine our beliefs and I can say that I do not like it when someone who claims to be a Christian commits adultery and since I do not know yours, you can say that since your belief is that it is wrong to --- you can say that you do not like those who claim to be of your religion and do a horrible thing that is against that belief and think that they will not have consequences.

Generation of youth or the older set of people...all must practice religious tolerance in all its entirety. One must definitely be showing respect and regard for the religious faith followed by another. All religions purport to the same goal of achieving peace and tranquility for the entire human race. In that outlook lies the attitude of religious tolerance.

Nowadays religious tolerance is gaining momentum among the younger set of people. They no longer consider as supreme belonging to a particular class or set of the religious sect . It is really a good sign..religious tolerance in human activity.

Hi pormadi, This is an excellent post with a message that everyone should heed. Sometimes parents must disobey what they have been taught by their religion in order to do what they know is right. Intolerance toward other religions should not exist in the twenty-first century. Anyone who reads the Bible will know that there was little tolerance toward other religions, especially in old testament times. People who take the Bible literally believe that God ordered his followers to commit genocide and that God does not change. How can anyone reason with that kind of mentality? I also believe that it is the extremist among Muslim who kill those of other religions, and that such people have misinterpreted the teachings of Mohammad. It is the same with some other religions. If Christianity is to survive, it's followers must learn to live and act more like Christ, if Islam is to survive, they must follow the true teachings of Muhammad. Parents must teach their children to respect other religions and cultures, even if it means going against what they have been taught by their religious leaders. Blessings.

I like your sharing. Some observers say, there ia an underground movement that have a mission to do "islamization the world" or "revenge the west arrogance". I do not wheter it is true or not. Most of the people in the world will a peace between all of religions

It had became a common acceptable teaching among various religion establishments' leaders to encourage their followers inside the flock to be intolerant toward other belief system and different religion doctrine, it is usually not the parent of the children that had brain washed those young adherents of present world. It is utmost important for modern parent to educate their children on the differences and stick with the universal truth commonly found among some great religion teachings, rather than leave their children uncheck and subjected to some of the warped interpretation of God words in the hand of the so called messengers. Unfortunately, intolerance among the faithfuls is going to be the norm of the day, instead of aberration in the religion of men, it will continue to stay that way for a long time as long as Men's religion exist, and will be used to keep their pure religious teachings.
