I finally had enough of the toilet lookin like the crap in the comfort room so I painted it the beautiful colours of the blue, pink, green, purple, orange, yellow, and red. It is now beautiful.
I also went on the painting spree and painted the microwave oven. It was white but now it is shiny bright purple. It is also the beautiful now.
I also painted the crock pot. It was also just white. Now it is shiny red and makes me to smile.
The refrigerator was just plain white. Now is green apple in the colour. I left the handles white for the contrast. Is very nice. Is beautiful.
I painted the rail on the staircase glossy red. Other staircase is the bright blue. Is now beautiful.
I am looking for the more things to paint.
Do you paint the things in your house, too? What sorts of things do you paint and what are the colours? What made you to decide to paint these things?

Wow - you went paint crazy - ha ha! (Microwave and crock pot too???????). Right now we're in the process of painting the kitchen walls. We just moved to this house (our first house) and now that the kitchen is done, we just have to paint it. Some kind of sage green, with a lighter shade for the ceiling. The green will continue on to one dining room wall as an accent wall . . . and then to a parallel wall that will be an accent color in the computer area. And the rest of house will be repainted (including the outside which is two toned green - blech - we look Christmasy minty) - just don't know when. Painting walls is a novelty to us . . . we've been renting apartments for over years now - none of which we were allowed to paint in . . . so finally we will live with some COLOR.
I remember seeing a fridge for sale on Craigslist . . . someone went Star Wars crazy and painted Yoda on it among other Star Wars-y things.

Congrats to your new home too! You sound mighty colorful PageTurner! I guess I would have issues painting on appliances that get hot . . . I would worry about fumes from the paint as it heats up (but hey, I guess everything is painted - even stoves/ovens). I just get paranoid about stuff like that. We are a family of artists here, but not bold in the way of color with household items (yet - ha ha). My daughter wants a yellow room and the little guy wants red . . . so it might just happen - ha ha!

Congratulations on the new colour in your life, much2say! Sounds very exciting.
We also just moved to a new place after a long time not having our own place. We have been painting the walls as well and we have been very colourful, with yellows, greens, white, oranges, purples, many shades of blue, etc. It is a lot of fun!
We just painted our kitchen as well and green was a major colour. The whole place is nice and bright now.
I like that you painted the ceiling in the kitchen a colour and didn't leave it white. I like to do this as well.
Painting the small appliances was fun. I taped off the parts I didn't want to paint, and used a high quality spray paint that gave me a glossy look (I wanted the gloss.) However, the refrigerator is not a gloss, but still looks great!
I like the Yoda refrigerator. My brother would like that. And so would Brennan from Stepbrothers.

Hello jsae29,
When i asked my father about painting the whole house myself. He did not support me and he told me that you can't do it and if you do it makes our houses dirty. I wonder why he tells so. I used to paint my computer shelf well then why can't I paint the rooms of the houses.

Hello jsae29
Did you want to paint the inside or the outside of the house. Or both?
What colour(s) do you want to paint the house? Do you want to paint a mural on the house?

whoa! take it easy picasso! lol!
you must have had too much paint and time on your hands when you went on your 'painting spree'. anyway, i'm sure you did a good job. it'll be great if you can post photos of the stuff you painted.
anyway, no i haven't undertaken any painting projects recently. i did paint my room when i was younger. it was originally painted white and then as i grew older, friends who came over started writing graffiti on the walls and what not. i started posting all sorts of posters and by the fifth year, the whole room looked liked a mess. so i decided to strip the walls of the posters and just paint everything in black. was particularly happy with what i accomplished at that time.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

it was a phase i went to.
black room, mostly black wardrobe (if it wasn't black, it was gray), black accessories.
really heavy curtains that shun the light.
i'm over that phase though. i still wear black occasionally though.
lol!

You really painted your room black? Must have been very dark.

I knew some guys who painted their whole apartment black. It was like walking into a cave. The meager light they had looked like it was being swallowed into a black hole.
Did you also have black lights in your black room?

I don't used to paint my house nor the things in my house. I think that painting the micro oven, fridges and other maternal brings it a very bad look. I used to paint the walls of my house but I don't do it all the time. I just mostly used to paint my computer shelf. This is what I usually does and I mostly paint those shelf per year.

A tree on the door was a great idea! I once painted a tree on the wall because I was putting in new hardwood floors and it was Christmas, and my children wanted a Christmas tree, but I didn't want one because of working around it with the floors. So I painted one on the wall and the boys decorated it. To this day, they often talk about that tree and said it was the best ever.
We're thinking of painting a big tree on one of our walls, maybe even incorporating real tree trunks and branches.

Glad I could be your muse for a bit.
We added pine boughs to the Christmas tree on the wall. It was nice and added the scent as well.
Your tree sounds like a lot of fun.

hi pageturner alas I live in a retirement center I do not get to paint furniture at all much as I would like to paint the toilet a pretty color too.yes color is lacking in a place like this as everything is painted a generic cream color. The carpet is however rose color. Don't you have to have a special paint to paint things like refrigerators and ovens?

You don't have to have a special paint to paint things like refrigeratos and ovens, Hatley, but it can help if you do. It's all according to what kind of look you want.

We don't really paint things here. When we do it's rooms and not really items in the house. Though I like the work of the urinal and how you described the refridgerator. I think if I were to paint more things it'd be the counters for sure as they are yellow and not an attractive color by any means. Also I'd have to say I'd probably paint the cabinets as well, probably a bright orange.

You have a colorful house. I've never seen any house with so many different colors within a confined space. I can't imagine going into your toilet, only to be surrounded by those eye catching colors. It's a form of distraction since i like things simple. As such, my room is a shade of boring red and almost everything are in the shade of red or pink. My mom is like you, she likes different colors for stuffs and now, just those walls, ceilings in the hall, there are 3 different colors. Blue ceiling with peach and white wall.

hello paigeturner...this is a very interesting and fun practice that you have adopted with your housewares...i am reminded of a time when the psychoartist was in an art class at college and the professor was discussing with the class the importance of color in our surroundings...all the students had to describe the colors in their personal decor and at that time the psychoartist was very into minimalism and had stark white walls...the professor was appalled and stated that i needed to bring more color into my life! also at that time the psychoartist had an exclusively black and white wardrobe...fortunately when i met and married mr.psychoartist my world became colorful and my surroundings and wardrobe reflect this! like in that song "kodachrome" by simon and garfunkel...

Hello the psychoartist
I can identify with your period of colorlessness. I, too, have experienced this. There was a time when I was into minimalism, and in some respects, it still appeals to me. I also went through a period when grey was most prevalent in my wardrobe.
But those days are gone!! I am now all for colour and as much colour as possible!!
I am fortunate because Mrs. Turner is very artistic and our dwelling is surrounded by a multitude of colour, especially from her beautiful paintings.
I like the 'kodachrome', too. I wonder if that song was written today, how would it be? 'digital megapixel' doesn't have the same ring to it.
