This lizard was in the news a lot lately because there was consideration of putting it on the endangered species list which would threaten the oil and gas industry in Southern New Mexico and Southwest part of Texas. A compromise was worked out between the oil and gas industry and the government in which the industry would voluntarily make an effort to protect the lizard and the government would not put it on the list. What I want to know is if it is so close to being endangered, why was one running around outside my window today here in the Albuquerque, NM foothills which is several hundred miles away from the area that was of concern. See photo for what one looks like.

Hello stealthy
Perhaps you could apply for government funding so that you can make efforts to protect this endangered sand dune lizard. I imagine that this sand dune lizard has a great affection for your home and it would bode well for it (and its sand dune lizard friends) if you were able to maintain your home to the highest standards. I suspect that if you don't already have a pool that it would benefit the sand dune lizard for you to put in a massive pool and other things that would, ultimately, help improve the lives of the sand dune lizard.
