Hello to the world wide mylotters
I hope you are all well...so do you believe that prayer can change things, the reason I am asking this is because my 39 years old son has been told that there is a problem with his heart,he also has also been told that he has high blood pressure and high cholestorol in his blood stream. I am a christian and believe in the power of prayer,if any of you wonderful mylotters believe in the power of prayer I would appreciate your prayers for my son, many voices raised in prayer to the lord will surely be heard and answered..
God bless you all

I believe in the power of prayer...were you pray to the Lord, the Virgin Mary. the Angels, the formless, mother nature, any thing do you believe in...if you pray with honesty and trust your prayers will be answered in one way or other. Blessings to you and your son.

Hi jojo,I am a Hindu from India and we Hindus believe in the power of prayers.Prayers can work miracles provided you devote yourself fully in the feet of the Almighty.Surrender yourself before Him and don't disbelieve Him even for a fraction of a second.Believe that you have already got what you are praying for.Leave all your anxieties, tensions, apprehensions and all burdens on Him and He will take care of all this. The power of prayer depends on your belief on God.
I pray God for your son's earliest recovery. And I believe he will be ok soon.

Thank you so much for your response, and thank you for your prayers for my son.I am so humbled by the amount of ppl here who say they will pray for my son.
Yes you are right when you say the power of prayer does depend on how strong your belief is in God..But every faithful prayer will be heard, well that's what I believe anyway..
Have a Great Weekend

Thanks, jojo.I can understand what you must be feeling about your dear son. When my mother was alive, she too used to get extremely worried when I caught cold or fever.Your son is having a major problem, but rest assured he will get well soon.So many prayers can't remain unheard.
All my best wishes for your dear son and you.

To answer your question, No it doesn't.
A bit of explanation: It's like asking if a hammer will build a house.
Look at it this way: I told my apartment-manager that my AC-filter needs changing; is it changed yet? No. But maintenance is coming in on Wednesday, and I asked for 'AC-filter' to be added to the work-order.
Your son: we'll pray for his health, but that--by itself--won't make him healthy. He's got to change his habits, take-medicine/eat-food that doesn't raise his blood-pressure and -that lowers it more. Let time and his immune-system clean out the bad stuff as he puts in the good stuff more.

Prayer can change your life around, especially if your prayer is sincere and comes from the heart. After you have prayed you feel warm and glad in your heart that you have done something good. All this helps the brain; your feeling of goodwill and sincerity about others. Keep on praying even if it is just repeating the name of God over and over again in remembrance.

Trials have been done on the effect of prayers and we know that there is no supreme being or god listening to them. However if someone believes that there is a god listening and they know people are praying for them then this can have a psycological boost which may well help them to get better so it is worth a try and nobody loses even if it does not work.

Hello Jojo. I am glad to know you're a Christian, a firm and true believer in the Lord - the one and only true living God in the Bible. Prayer, as we learn is communication with God. It is not the prayer that changes things, but the power of God in prayer that can change things. That's what I learned so far. A problem with the heart and other related complications is because of a lot of factors. One is the food we eat and the lifestyle we practice. You can or we can pray about him, but unless he does what he's supposed to do, as expected by God, there's nothing that will brought changes even if we pray fervently.

yes, i humbly do believe that our prayers can change things, especially those involving lives of people. no matter what religion you belong to, no matter on who you serve, if you have trust and faith on Him, every thing is possible.
while there is life, there is hope.

Yes definitely prayer can change things. Once we are hearing it every day, there will be some impact on our mind. It is proved in several cases, especially in the case of prisoners. And it is observed that there is vital change in their life. Anyway when I was in the school each and every days starts with a prayer .

Yes, definitely, though some can be received in an instant some can be delayed. Some can be recieved in a small packages, but what is inside is precious. Others big ones but a lesser worth or not your liking. That's why I always count my blessing.
Faith can moved things, literally. It helps us to be strong. Someone, somehow really guides and even care even when we care less. Because it already happened to me. Welcome to myLot and God bless

Yes, I believe that prayer can change things. Before my life was so misable and I am living in the dark. Prayers help me to see the light in my life and give me the right person who will help me to become a better person. I have lot of prayers that came true and lots of wishes that grated because of the power of prayers.

yes prayer can change things, because prayer is your motivation, so it was useless if you pray with out motivation, it was what really what you want.

Recently, my faith in the Lord has been strengthened tremendously in the past year or so. First, I lost my ID, which I got really stressed about. I needed it for a very important errand which I do not want to go into details. When I went to look around for it in my car, house, EVERYWHERE, I couldn?t find it. I decided to go to the place where I would do the errand. I hoped they would understand that I lost my ID, but when I got to the parking lot, I found my ID in my bag after praying all day that I would find it.
Another place where I renewed my strength in the Lord is when I lost my routine of going to the beach, because I was busy. I prayed and prayed that I could have my weekly beach time. Guess what, I go multiple times a week now.
The Lord is amazing. People say "If hes real, give me a soda", but the Lord works in mysterious ways. He works in ways that will not grant you wealth, but in ways that will help you achieve a life of helping others and worhshiping the lord.
To me, things that I pray for come true. I pray that this comment will get best response too! :)

I quit praying a long time ago, because my prayers were never answered. And after watching so many loved ones, even the ones who were "close with God" die slow and horribly painful deaths, I gave up.
You and your son will be in my thoughts, however, and if prayer helps you, then keep on praying! I think there are even websites online where you can get your son listed on a prayer list and have many, many people sending up prayers for his recovery.

Yes I do believe in prayers. Cause just last week, God answered my prayers, I was so overwhelmed, dumbfounded, I could not believe that two days ago I had a problem, and two days after I suddenly had a solution! God is awesome. He will never let you down. I will pray for your son, for strength, and wellness.

God said in the Holy Quran :
" When My worshipers ask you about Me,I am near. I answer the supplication of the suppliant when he calls to Me; therefore, let them respond to Me and let them believe in Me, in order that they will be righteous." Al-Baqara :186
" Your Lord has said: 'Call on Me and I will answer you. " Ghafir :60
so prayer can change things , I'll pray for your son , God heal him and give him health and wellness .

Prayer means to want some thing from God. So, Prayer is one kind of dependency on others and spoils one's creativity. I think we can get benefit from feeding a hungry, donating to charity, responding with responsibility to emergency problems and wellwishing for the unfortunates. Let your arts be turned into the sense of duty to yourself, to your family, to kith and kins and to the peope of your country and to the people of the whole earth.
