My Special Day

This morning, first thing, I had to get up and collect a baggy of dog poo because my lab is going to the vet today and wanted us to bring a stool sample. I had to get up early instead of sleeping in because the plumber was coming and I had to be ready for him. Around 8:30 I started getting a horrible headache. I have to go to work today for only an hour and a half to do a kids camp project because I'm the "teacher" and they won't get someone else to do it on my days off, but they keep scheduling my days off on the same days as craft camp! After I get home from work and the plumber is finished I have to go on a mega cleaning spree in the kitchen because it has been overrun with fruit flies because of them living in the drain and wood because of the damage done by the leaky pipes that are being fixed. This is how my special day is going to go. Its "special" because its my birthday. I'm 31 today. I miss being a kid when having a birthday was something to REALLY get excited over. You had a party, even if it was small and only family. There was a cake and ice cream and balloons and presents. The day was special and all about you. Now that I'm all grown up the day is just another day full of life's little problems. The only thing I ever get "special" is the day off of work, because I always ask for the day off work, but I don't even get that today. Oh well, maybe my MIL will make me a cake. How do you feel about birthdays? Do you still have parties and get gifts, or is that just for kids? Do you ever do anything special for yourself?

Hello nonersays You really are having the special day! You are so blessed to have a Labrador. I imagine that your Lab enjoys spending time with you. How wonderful for you! I am sorry to hear that you are having a headache and I hope that it gets better. Hopefully, the plumber will fix whatever problems you're having and this will help to alleviate the headache. I imagine that although the children may not appreciate that you are teaching them on your time off, that they still love the crafts that you teach them. I imagine that their lives are fuller and blessed because of your efforts on their behalf. How wonderful for you to have such an impact on young lives!! I like to clean on my Birthday as well. It's like a fresh start. And I like to get a haircut on that day as well. Just spruce up a bit for the new year. It sounds like you're off to a great start for your 32nd year!! How wonderful for you!! What a full and fulfilled life you are living. How awesome!! I hope that you get a cake or some treat to sweeten the day. I tend to have a meal with my best friend to celebrate the day. Peace.

I love my Lab, but he's a "special" dog. He's had a lot of medical and mental illnesses since we brought him home as a puppy. The first, and ONLY purebred animal I've ever owned. Nope....only rescue dogs for me from now own. Hopefully the vet can solve his skin problem today though. Work is over and the plumber is finished so now I just have all the house cleaning to do. I HATE cleaning. But I hate fruit flies even more and we've GOT to get them out of the house now that we've fixed what was causing them.

Thank you for your birthday wishes. My MIL did wish me a happy day this morning and asked if I wanted anything special for supper tonight. Why do you have to be in church first thing in the morning on your birthday?

hi dear nonersays first of all Happy Birthday to you inspite of all the work you have to do today. I have to admit I take my birthday week off and stay away from the office so this crap wont follow up on me on that special day. LOL..... but as I am diabetic theres no big cake or party, there are a few homemade muffins and thats it normally.

It would be AWESOME to take the whole week of my birthday off! I'll have to stick with just asking for the day itself off though.
