I really dont even know what to name this question. But here goes...I dont know if i was jus brought up to be nice to people and do the right thing. But why is it so hard to find people to do the same thing. Is it that I run into people that takes kindness for weakness or what. Why is it that when you have 20 bucks and they ask to borrow 19 you give it to them. But if they have a 100 and u ask for a dollar, they claim to gs for people because I know i wont get the same respect in return. be broke. Or if they have no where to stay and you have an empty room, you let them stay with you. But if you needed somewhere to crash, they say they dont feel comfortable letting people stay with them. I know alot of these people. I really dont understand but it seems to be lifes journey. I dont ever want to get to the point that I cant do things for people because its in my nature. Do you have friends of this sort, and how do you handle them.

I had similar friends before, and I think they only remember me when they need something. Same as you, when I asked for there help, they only made excuses. I dont know what you felt but for me I felt a little bit hurt. So I tried to distance myself from them but not in an obvious manner. I still asked them for help, but I did not expect them to help me, it was only to see if they will try to help me or if they will just make another excuse. Since they made excuses again I already know that I can not rely on them, so I did not ask them for any help anymore. I still help them but not as much as I used to anymore.

I have this kind of friends before when i was still a teenager. But i think its quite normal, if you are a teenage i guess, if you have friends like this. Being selfish without being aware of it is some kind of teenage issue and as an adult we should have know how to deal with it. I cant call them my friends when they will act like this to me when i am not in a good situation. They say that you can only see who`s true among your friends, when they can help you and lift you up when your down. They will still try to help you even if its only by words (if the have really nothing) if they are really your friends. Friends should help each other after all

Thankfully i haven't encountered the situation when I had to borrow money froma friend desperately. but i do lend my friends money if they need it.
I think it's a matter of trust. YOur friend should trust you enough to know that you will pay him back or if you can crash in his place without expecting to be entertained. it's so awkward when you have a friend over and he ends up staring at walls waiting for you to entertain him. It could be troublesome for the host.
