The real cost of Health care in the United States.

Have you ever thought about how much health care is hurting this country? Unless you are a politician, a union member, on Medicare/Medicaid, or wealthy you probably wouldn't think twice about it. But, for the rest of us who have to foot most of the bill for our health care it is a huge amount of money. While talking to some on here about this subject, I have learned that many are like me. My doctor want's me to get test done, but I have Bush insurance which means they will cost me thousands of dollars that I don't have. So I spend money on medicine, change my diet, and suffer through until I am get enough to get these test done, or something major happens to me and the major catastrophe part of my insurance kicks in. This all is taking money out of my families pocket that I would use for other things, and has made me less productive at work cutting down on the income I make them. All of this has a price tag attached to it, and I know that I am not alone in this battle. The cost of health care is destroying our economy, and our quality of living. But, no one knows how to fix a problem that our selves caused. So my question to all of you is at what point do we consider Health Care more important than national security, or the economy itself?

Personally I think they should get rid of insurance companies. Why do you need a middle man to see your doctor? Then I think they should make all hospitals and doctor offices non profit. That does not mean a nurse or doctor does not get a set salary which can be raised based on their performance. It just means they are not jacking up the prices on people just because they can. They say healthcare costs are so high because of unhealthy people. I just think they use that as an excuse to jack up prices. It is an unfortunate that even saving peoples life is for profit. Plus some people only become doctors because they want to get paid. They could careless about helping people but just because it gives them great social status. I use to know a guy and that is why he wanted to become a doctor was to get women and to get paid.

I think that insurance companies are a prime example of where government has gone wrong. Much of their money is made off of policies that we are forced to have. If if a state is going to mandate something like car insurance than it should regulate the industry so that they are not gauging people. I look at car insurance prices all the time, and it amazes me that one company will quote you a policy for $144, and another for $61 for the same exact policy. There are some that do get into it for the money, but I really don't think it is the majority of them. If you are going to spend all of that money on schooling, you could have just cut that in half and became a banker, or a politician and make as much if not more with NO liability.

Ya that is true about the banker part maybe he just doing more to get women. Then again maybe he was doing it just because his family wanted him to. Isn't funny how competition isn't driving down some of these prices. It is just there are so many companies of each product now a days and people just do not do their research and it really ends up hurting us all. People know they can charge insane amounts and get a way with it. Especially with healthcare.

Any job where you make a lot of money, you won't have a problem finding women. Just look at all of the tech nerds, and their hot wives!!

What I am reading, if true, is a shame! It seems to imply that most of the population donĀ“t have health care. What happens with intependent workers? How do poor people manage? In my country there are some illness that are paid for by the government in a great part. Although it is true that government money is taken out of taxes, most of the taxes are not paid by the poor (only the tax that goes along with things that you buy.
