Yeah. I am a certified couch potato. I graduated last year. Became a registered nurse this year, and to top it all, I HAVE GOT NO JOB. With that said, i have the television all for myself. I kind of memorized the time slots of the shows in different channels. I also kind of know the stories and the characters and everything that happens with them everyday. When I and my friends got no "appointment" (that means hanging out), I am just in my parents' room, watching t.v while munching on some great food. By the end of this month, I hope this couch potato thing ends. It's more tiring to just not do anything. But i try to enjoy because being employed means less hang-outs, less rest, and sexier figure. Kidding. I mean thinner me. So for now, cheers to all you couch potatoes out there.

television would be best friend of ideal people because they spend most of their time on the couch watching television all the time and this has many circumstances like weight gain, anxiety, etc. we should avoid it because it does not give anything than just making us busy in useless things (not completely useless if we watch good channels) and we should keep on trying to get a job because that what we always want we can watch our favorite programs after our work and we have sites like Youtube where we can watch them any time.

the best way is do not switch on the television, you can do it by distracting your mind somewhere else like Mylot on Facebook but do not get addicted to Facebook or Mylot as well. all the best for your job searching and I hope you will get it very soon, best wishes.

Yes I am completely aware of that. But I can't help it. My eyes get glued to the t.v as soon as it's on. I was used to not having to watch t.v when I was still in college. I have to focus on studying and I only get to watch t.v. when I'm home. Now that I've got nothing to do, the t.v's my best friend. Lol. I am trying to get a job before the end of this month and hopefully I'll get one. Thanks ;)

Now a days most of the persons whoever finished their graduations are busy with the job search. At that time they are spending a lot of time in the home and turned as couch potato without doing anything. Simply they are eating, watching TV or browsing internet, hangout with their friends and search for their job for some time. This kind of activities may give enjoyment and pleasure for the present, but it will spoil the future. If you finished your graduation and searching for a job, why don't you try to improve your skills in your field by attending some additional classes and courses? or help the persons whoever doing graduation in your field? it will help you to improve your skills and knowledge as well as you will be updated in your field. Don't waste your time being an idle person, even a second wasted is irrecoverable. Use your time in a good manner and learn various things in this kind of free time. Now our world is improved a lot and great competition is going on in almost all the fields, if you don't improve your skills and knowledge and remain with the same knowledge of the college education, it is really hard to get a good job. Also you can join as a trainee in some company which is related to your field, it will give some experience to you. Don't care about the salary at the beginning and grab the experience in your free time. Being a couch potato turns you as a lazy person, you will find a lot of inconvenience after getting the job. Don't waste your time. Use it in a good way to gain knowledge and update your self to face the competition in the present world.

thanks for the advice. i really appreciate that. yes i already have joined trainings and seminars in my field so as to update myself also because it's not a good feeling when someone asks you a question related to your field and you can't even answer. lol. I'm afraid of losing the knowledge i got through my education and it's really hard to get a job especially for nurses nowadays. im planning to go to med school next yr. but for now, i will do my very best to get a job. any job. but it would be nice if i would get a nursing job. hehe. thanks for this. good luck and God bless! ;D

I know what you mean. I am unemployed and even though I have unemployment for the rest of the year, I hate not working and I know I will find something. With that being said, long time ago, like over 20 years, I was at a relatives house during one of the holidays and General Hospital was on. I got hooked! It was during the Luke and Laura days. I imagine there are many mylotters that don't know what I'm talking about. Just ask your parents. It was really a sensation. People that usually didn't watch soap operas watched it.

I guess I would be termed as a couch potato. I am retired and write online. I usually have the tv on and have certain shows I have to see. I think as long as a person does other things and is productive being a tv watcher isn't a problem. It is when a person starts making excuses and doesn't do anything that the couch potato thing comes in. And why can't you do other things besides JUST watching tv? Go for walks, exercise, do hobbies, etc.

I hope we can pursue working in Cebu. But thinking you will look for a work in Manila makes me hesitant working as a call center agent. My cousin is offering me a work in CDO and Im doubtful of it. I dont know if I really should; Ralph's there. I do not know.

I was a couch potato at one stage in my life after finishing university but I was still looking for a job and eventually got one. I found sitting around doing nothing was boring for me and so I satrted finding other things to do. Now I try to fill my life with hobby, skills and other things to take away the boredom, only down side is that im in a ob that I dont like at the moment but at least it pays for all my hobbies.

I am a registered nurse too and been a couch potato for a year. It really hard to find a nursing job nowadays since lots of nurses here in our country but lack of hospital job opportunities for us. I became registered nurse last 2007, work in the hospital after a year in the province but after two years I decided to resigned and work here in the city as a private duty nurse. The salary was quite promising than in the hospital and also less stressful. Goodluc

Yes that's so true. But I'm planning to go to med school next yr so I would like to explore and try things other than the nursing profession. But the thing is, I haven't had any working experience as a nurse other than what I had when I was in college. You know, the internship thing. I would also like to try the "real thing" before I go to med school so as not to put my nursing education to waste. Oh well, I just pray to God that He'll guide me to the right path. :)

Congratulations, I will go to work as you, I will be a teacher to teach psychology. I am afraid that when I work I have no time shopping, resting and so on. And now I might be called couch potato as you. The happy time will past. Best wishes to you and me.

Hahaha! I WAS a couch potato. Actually, I'm one every year end when I have holidays from schooling. I could literally hang out in my pajamas all day on the couch catching up with the tv series I missed, ( last year was Merlin xD) scrolling around my iPod, snacking, napping around and reading around ( some novels ). I could just lay on the couch and stay there from sun rise till sun set. I'm a bit lucky cause I can't really get fat easily. But other than that, I think I qualify to be a certified couch potato! xD

What country are you from? Congratulations on getting your nurse's registration by the way. Good luck on your job hunting. It can be tough since competition for nurses is very tight, I hear. I guess you'll just have to enjoy your couch potato days for awhile... but you'd have to contend with your parents following you up for employment every once in a while. Would you also consider a home-based job if an opportunity for you pops? Just asking.

Yes my parents constantly follow me up with the employment. They are also always supportive of me :) Of course. I'll grab any chance/opportunity there is. I am still starting and I also wanna try and explore other things.
