I am an accounting student and our dear teacher has given as a task to collect source documents. I am really tired looking for those because I believe they're some sort of confidential information. For example, nobody would let me borrow and reproduce a copy of their purchase orders since this contains the actual price of the goods they sell brought or delivered by their suppliers. It would be unfair for me because I really cannot find...and you know what, our professor has required us to bring five samples, duh, I cannot even provide a single one...is she kidding me?? And this problem makes my head ache!!!!

As for the confidentiality issue, there's no really rule about that in business. In fact, how can an auditor examines the financial statements if he/she will not have bases of such and these source documents are the primary evidence an auditor can use. However, most of the businesses tend to keep their source documents confidential because of industry competition. If they know that you're not a legit auditor or government employee, they would not risk their information. But there are still establishments there that can lend you some if you can talk to them wisely. Go to the places that you have any connections.
