I am interested in taking a class online. I noticed at Universal Class, not only is the class I want to take within my budget but it appears legit and appears to cover the topics I want covered. I am not sure if this is a rip off or not though. Has anyone here ever taken a class online at Universal Class? Was it legit or was it a rip off?

There are many online class now. The Universal Classes are interesting and totally free. I have learned the class online, but till now I have not finished even one of them. Teachers are good , the classes are good, but to protect the copyright, most of the online classes do not show the PPT and books on the video which make me hard to catch the meaning and enjoy the class.
But it is really a good way to learn something at my free time.

The classes at Universal Class are not totally free. There is a basic charge and then there is a slightly higher fee if you want a CEU (Continuing Education Unit) certificate. The charges are different from class to class. For example, Dream Interpretation runs $40 and $65 if you want a CEU, while some cooking classes go as high as $70.
I don't know which classes you're taking at Universal Class that are free, since the site itself says there is a charge for all of them.
