Make sure that you eat. Make sure that you have something to drink. Make sure that you are in a relatively quiet area, and make sure that you have resolved most of your outside drama before studying. Take breaks if you need to. Don't stress out. Stress will only make things worse if you let it. Make sure that you watch things and do things that have something to do with what you are studying.
Say that you are studying 18th or 19th Century British Literature, and you are reading Jane Eyre. Yes, read the whole book first, read it twice if you have to, consult the internet if you need to know what it was like back then. You may watch some of the films if you wish, but be careful because if you have a quiz on that book, then watching the films will not help you. Make sure though that you know as much about that time period as you can before or during reading that book.
Another example: Astronomy. Read the books that you have to read on the subject, but also, don't be afraid to watch Carl Sagan's "Cosmos", go online to research the stars or planets that you are studying, or gathering any and all information that you need to on the subject. Make a game of it.
You can do stuff like this with just about any subject that you are studying.
I am an English Rhetoric and Composition/Literature major, and I just did a paper on Ernest Hemingway's short story "Now I Lay Me", and I had so much fun with it because I love war history and I love dreams and memories and how they work. I pretty much made a game of it and just had as much fun with it as I could because I love that subject so much.
That's another thing, if you love the subject, then it will not be that hard to focus on it. You will just study on it naturally.

It's not at all hard man {that's what she said :p}. just decide what you want to study. and then just go for it until you finish it.you won't understand it fully but you will still get an idea and next time you just have to revise it.
If you go for short intervals with full concentration.that's also good but there may be a possibility that you'll try keep it for the next time.
the first method works for me. best of luck and yes this requires more effort then the second one.
cheers and thank you,

I'd like to add that you should just take it easy. Study a lot, but also don't forget to put in a little time for play. I remember that Dexter's Lab episode where he studied the whole time in college while his friends were partying... he ended up disturbing all of them because he wanted to party but it's exams and deadlines in the morning so nobody went to party with him. Just put in a little balance. :)

This is a very common problem with students, and I think that a lot of people wonder how they can spend more time concentrating on their studies at times. I think that the best thing that you can do is to make a timetable of when you're going to do the work that is set, and then make sure that you give yourself a small reward every day, or even every couple of hours. Also remember that education is not forever, and you're not going to be studying for exams for the rest of your life, and you only have to work for just a little bit longer in order to secure a future that you would like for yourself.

Actually the best is daily revision upto the exams dates.Cramping into the brain at the last few days sometime do more harm then good in confusion. Studying in library where it is quiet and surrounded by other people who is studying is good also. Made sure u r well rested before studying. To study with tired mind and restless body is hard and can do more harm then good.

I have the same problem and since I am studying medicine, there is hell of things to study.I made several attempts to plan and stick on to the schedule, but in the end I get tensed up seeing the portions I have to cover for the day.So now,I study in a relax manner not setting any goal to reach for the day.But of course,I study the daily taught portion so that it will be easy before the exam.I found out one technique to be extremely useful.Since I cover up my daily portions, they are very less to study and it takes about half an hour to one hour.So it is enough for me to study before I loose my concentration to study more. And regarding how to remember the portions,I recall the daily previous day's portions every time I study the new ones,so that all the portions are exposed to the brain cells every day and it is not easily erased.Try this.Best of luck with your exams.

One thing that changed my life was the to do list, if you write down what you must do in a day you won't believe how much more energy you foccus only in what's important.
Set pages or subjects to study everyday, you'll see how this will change you.
If you don't do a to do list, literally writing it down you wonder away doing what could be done so much later.

I used to listen to music in my headphone when studying because it will help me concentrate, but for some people it can be really distracting. Try this, what do you love to do most? At home, I mean.
I love reading novels, and during exams I used to find it so hard to give up some nice book and read stupid study books instead. At least, that was how I thought of the study books. But I used to tell myself, I can read one chapter from my novel, after I finish every 3 or 5 chapters of my studies. It used to help because I would concentrate hard and study faster so I could read that one chapter of my novel.
So in short, find some incentive, and promise to yourself to only have that thing if you study a certain amount. If you like ice-cream, do not have any at all, until you finish half of your subject, and then treat yourself.

Hello jgirap, what you require is self confidence. Once you have the confidence to study and to pass the exam you can concentrate in your studies. Also you should not be thinking of any kind of problems or anything while studying. It may really affect your studies. Also make sure that you study the topics in daily basis .

Concentrating to studies is not really hard to do if you really want to study. If you don't want to study then, concentrating to it is very hard to do.
Put it into your mind. Stay away from temptations making you away to your studies. Sometimes, internet is the main cause of it. If you really want to concentrate in your studies, don't think other things too much which are not related to it. Think of the good things that will happen to you after your studies. Making a goal in your life makes it easier. Well, managing your time can control your work, can balance your studies and other work. Just do it. Haha. Think of studies.

Hi friend, First of all don't think you are not interested in studies and lack your interest in it. This kind of negative thoughts never help you. Just think you are interested in your studies and do your exams well with your effort. Fill up your mind with good and positive thoughts. It will motivate you to study and you will get interest automatically and study well for your exams. All the best

Hi there. here are some tips i think will help you very much. firstly, I would suggest you to find out a time where you are the most awake and energized. Use that time to study. For me, i prefer to study at night. Secondly, choose a study place away from any electronic device or in fact, any sort of entertainment. I think its pretty obvious why hahaha. And lastly, I would suggest you to perhaps stand up and take a walk every hour or so to keep yourself awake.

The best tips I have for increasing concentration and comprehension while studying is to step away from distractions like the computer or your music or anything. We like to think we can mutlitask, but really... we're not good at it! Before you get to study, keep your mind active by eating healthy, exercising, and getting plenty of sleep. When you study, find a nice quiet place out of the way, and try to make it the same place so that your brain will start associating it with 'study mode'. Take notes on the main point and review your notes before you move on to the next point.
