Brown thing? No problem

This happened to me sometime last month. I just woke up late. And as a result, I didn't have my breakfast. Took a 2 minute shower. Changed clothes hurriedly. And then I rushed to the door when suddenly a thing just fell unto my white polo shirt. A fistful brown thing that came from above, a bird or something. I got stained on my shoulder part. It does not have awful smell though. My work starts at 8:00. It was 7:40 and I have a pending "not-so-urgent-but-needs-my-attention" thing waiting for me at the office back then. Office is a 20 minute ride. And so, I just went ahead and as if nothing happened on my new white shirt.
Some people would go back and change as they don't want to use stained clothes. Some may proceed and attend to what is ahead of them.
I just want to know more about you guys. What would you do if you are in this situation.
Thanks for your response in advance.

hi mikyung! i would have to change because i would feel very unhappy all day with a spot on my clothes...it is not about what other people would think, it would just worry me!...if i didn't have a lot of time, i would have brought a fresh shirt with me and changed in the comfort room at the workplace...however, i think your response was very brave and practical!

I have to agree with everybody else. I would have gone back and changed my shirt. I can't stand to have stains or anything like that on my shirt at work. Work is where your appearance means alot. If you are running to the grocery store no big deal. But at work is where you really should take pride in how you look, even if it means being a few minutes late.

This would of been one of those situations where I would of ran back in the house and grabbed a clean shirt and changed it once you got to work or if there was a way you could of tactfully changed it during your ride in. Or when in doubt if it's normal for you to wear a white shirt to the office then I'd keep perhaps a spare at work or in your vehicle. As anything white seems to attract mess!

I had this happen to me once, I was on my way to a meeting and didn't have the option of going home to change. I was lucky the poop was the same color as my dress and I was able to wash most of it off. Sometimes nature just gets a little to close.

LOLZ... Sounds like a funny story, going to your workplace with bird poop on your shirt!! But, I have to say, you were pretty brave to do that.
If I ever faced that kind of a situation, I would be forced to run back into the house & change into a new shirt just because my job is a client-facing job. I am required to look good & presentable.
After that, I would inform my superior that I was running late & would be coming in to office late. I would add that I would explain to him once I got to the office. Anyway, then I would just calmly head to my office ensuring that the new shirt I was wearing would not be white... :D

I would have taken the few minutes to change my shirt before I went to work. then I would have tried to speed a bit to ge to work faster! I had a bird poop on me once while I was outside at work smoking and I went home to change!

I would probably have gone back and grabbed a top and then ran for the car. I can change in the car or the bathroom before going on duty. And I would probably be in a hurry either way. I wouldn't want to go to work with an obvious stain that would probably bother me later on in the day.

If I experienced the same thing, I would go back and change for a cleaner shirt. But if I would be late for work I'll just bring it with me and change in the locker room. I guess I can leave my post for a while to change my shirt.

I will go for changing my dresses. I says much attention to my dresses and i need to look tidy and clean at all the time. I think just ten minutes is enough for me to get there in the office, i am so just fast at my ride.

i would have gone back inside and changed my clothes lol. i am one of those people that want their clothes to look good and professional when they go to work or somewhere that it is required to look good. so in the end i would have changed it or i would have grabbed it realy fast went to work and did the thing that was waiting on me and then took the time to change it. which ever i found more important. plus by taking it with me i wouldnt be late to work :)

that is me i would have felt to uncomfortable about it that it would have affected my work and the things i needed to get done. even with no smell or anything i am not sure that i wouldnt have ended up leaving at lunch time to change it if i didnt already do so or bring a new shirt with me lol.
jsut a thought but i know people that actually have a whole outfit at work that they leave there so that if something ever does happen even at work they have extra clothes and then they just bring more the next day. like i said it is just a thought but i know i use to do this when i worked at 1 place that way it isnt uncomfortable and you still feel good about your clothes and that is 1 less thing that you will have to worry about :)

You are incredible! How can you go to work like nothing happened? If that happened to me, i'll quickly grab a new shirt and wear it as i walk to work. i know job is important, but being comfortable is also important too. i cant go around with bird poop on my shoulder...

I think if happens to me I will go back inside the house and change my shirt. I think I can still attend my meeting even if I become a little late. Your unbelievable for just wiping it, by the way how about the smell? Did you get rid it too?

Hi mikyung, it depends on the situation of the time. If I have sufficient time to get my clothes changed certainly I would like to do it. I would feel at ease and comfortable for I don't know whether the stain left would cause, even though it's odorless. I have a sensitive nose and I can get disgusting smell that is very faint. Non-stop sneezing would throw me to have a running nose all the day. It would be a great torture then. Again it would be quite indecent as well to have conspicuous stain seen on the shoulder part of the clothes in white
If I were to be in hurry to work. I will leave for my office straight away. I would get rid of the stain rushing to the office toilet once I have reached there. The very first thing to do is to get the smell, if there is any and the brown stain to be removed at the same time
Happy posting

mikyung being a woman and not wanting that brown thing on my blouse I would hurry back in and change to something clean and be a five minutes late but look decent. Also that stain might contain bacteria you did not need on you too. I could always explain to my boss and I would have indeed. I am retired now so have no such problems anyway,

If it were me, I would have probably taken an extra couple minutes to just grab another shirt and put it on. Then I wouldn't have to worry about it all day!
My thinking is this: If work must start at 8:00, well at 7:40 I'm not late YET. Even during the 20 minute drive, I'm still not late as long as it has not hit 8:00. So what's a few short minutes to just switch shirts and get it overwith? I'd only get concerned when it becomes 8:01!
