I have a bunch of cats, including a couple I took in when a friend died. One of them is a blue tortoiseshell http://www.google.com/imgres?q=blue+tortoiseshell&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=TRd&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1586&bih=769&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=pOdeYGptW1PKuM:&imgrefurl=http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/catbreed/tortoiseshell.htm&docid=xjAEUm6XFtW7IM&imgurl=http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images9/tortoiseshellVinaPooo.jpg&w=350&h=227&ei=w6znT7KiLuK02gWGuNzZCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1183&vpy=154&dur=6142&hovh=181&hovw=279&tx=163&ty=104&sig=110424527973798865227&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=175&start=0&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0,i:95 (gee, I hope that link works!) that I think isn't the prettiest cat I've ever seen. Now, she's also not the first one I've known, but she is the first I've ever owned. She's a nice cat - okay - nothing against her, but I don't think she's the prettiest cat around. So, the roomie's niece-in-law really liked her looks last weekend. Then, when I took her out to my friend's she also has one, and she liked her too. In fact, I suspect that if she could have a cat, she'd want one like that. Hey, I guess everyone has their take on what they like... I like black cats and I like Siamese - well, okay - I pretty much like any cat, but there are some I consider prettier than others, and this color isn't one I consider that pretty... I like the regular tortoiseshell cats so it isn't the mix of colors... Oh well, just thought it was funny how she really zoned right in on this color of cat. Do you like particular color cats too?

I have always like torties. I prefer the dark over the light. I had one at one time that had the white background and splotches of color that were tabby striped, in red and black. I named her Camouflage. Her addiction to chocolate treats with our proximity to DQ across the street led to her demise, she was hit by a car after a nightly begging session. I had rescued her from living outside the skating rink and begging treats. I like Siamese and most all other cats. I am to the point, however, where I do not always enjoy them as much as I used to. Mostly due to the clean up work that they require and the skin and hair issues I see in response to fleas. I have a black female dsh and two male cream tabbies, one short haired and one long. A local bob tailed black tabby thinks he owns us, but the others try to keep him chased away. He thinks he owns all the homes in the area.

Our cat Diva has those colored spots. She's got a funny habit of playing with the water. In fact, the roomie turned on the faucet and launched a wet Diva from where she was laying in the sink!

We had a white cat that had black spots. I just learned last year that he must have been a Turkish Van. Great personality, and he loved to play in water and he loved to ride in the bike basket, doll buggies, cars, etc.

I've always had a soft spot for white cats, and my husband has always had a soft spot for orange ones. However, neither of us has ever seen an ugly cat. As far as we are concerned, all cats are purrrrr-fect, regardless of how they look. Our cat Shakti is an orangish-cream-coloured cat. A Flamepoint Balanese-Siamese cat.

I had a long haired flame pointed cat who found a wonderful home in the penthouse at the Towers of Town Lake. I love black cats, but my white cat is my favorite.

I have a toriseshell cat too, got her from a friend on here and she's a beauty! She's such a sweetheart of a cat and is very petite little ole thing but she has so much love to give! My mom's renter had one till he gave her away to his brother and she was a beauty that my mom named her Black Beauty. I honestly don't care what color a cat is. A cat is a cat and all need to be loved, fed, sheltered and of course, vetted. There's this kitten at my mom's about 6 to 8 months old, black and white that's scared of people so I'm going to have to trap it so I can get it vetted and fixed. I've tried to get it to come to me so I could help it but it won't. I'll get it eventually though.

Rio and Gabby are the dark tortoiseshell and they are pretty - tho Gabby wasn't especially when she was a kitten. I just have never been as fond of this color probably because the cat I first met who had it had a minimal personality and what she had wasn't especially nice.

I would never say that I think they are ugly, I just don't think this color is the prettiest - but I'm really one to over look looks for personality. I guess part of it was the first cat I ever met that was this color really didn't have much personality. She kind of had a "I'm a Princess and you are NOT" personality and that wasn't very nice.

I also like orange tabby's with white sox! I had one when i was grwoing up! I am also fond of tiger cats with alot of white. I have known alot of cats that color.

I am an equal-opportunity cat lover! I like them multicolored, solid colored, and hairless! I think tortoiseshell kitties are super cute! Personally have a calico cat, just cause she was the kitten who tried to escape the cage when I was checking them all out and I thought it was funny. All the kittens were really cute, and I couldn't have picked just cause of looks. I think the only cat I'd say wasn't the prettiest kitty is the Devon Rex, seen one of those? They look like goblins. But then again, I also think they're cute in their own way. I kinda want to get one just to name it Golem.

I'll agree, those Rexs are a bit odd. I had a friend who had a pair, they were brothers but as different as night and day. I have a couple of other torties, but only the one of the blue kind and I think they are pretty - and a calico. I think the Sphinxes are strange, like a baby Rex all grown up...

They do look like Rexs. I kinda like how unique Sphinxes are though. And they feel like warm peaches. If I saw a Rex though, I'd probably try to cuddle it regardless. I just love cats. Whenever I'm at a friend's house, I'll be like, "I'm gonna go find your kitty!" lol

I love every color, breed and size and shape of cats; basically, I LOVE cats, period. I currently have five cats including two gray - one a big long haired male and one a tiny, petite short haired female - two females I guess would be called tabbies with black, gray, orange and a little cream color and another black, brown and tan tabby. I adore them all and they're all absolutely gorgeous as far as I'm concerned...and I get the feeling they totally agree! Through the years I've probably had cats of every color there is and I think they're all beautiful in their own way. Annie

The link wouldn't work for me but I did do a search about the different kinds of cats. I thought calico and tortoiseshell cats were only three colors and mine have more than three. I just learned a few weeks ago that calicoes are always females. I also heard on Animal Planet recently that orange cats are almost always males. Annie

Well, 80% of orange cats are male because the "red" gene on the "X" is dominate, but so is the "black" gene, also on the "X" So, an orange female has kittens, no matter what color the sire is, the boys will be orange because she's carrying a double "red" on the "X" that she donates to the kittens. For a while we had 5 orange cats and 4 were male and one female - so we were right on the percentage there!

Actually, the two females sound like tortoiseshell, black and orange with anything else is linked to the "X" gene. That's why tortoiseshells (and calicos in the states) are always female - of if they are male they sterile (XXY). did you look at the link?

I too am a huge fan of both black cats and Siamese. I wasn't sure about Maine Koons, but Dinglebeary hooked me, and I will have another Maine Koon too. I am a cat lover in general, but if given a choice, Siamese, Maine Koons and black cats will top my list. (hummm, wonder if I am some sort of witch? ) I have fostered many other breeds and mixes of cats, but my first love is the Siamese.

I think Siamese are really smart (tho I did have Scamp who was really stupid) but even if they are part Siamese I like them - Rygel has the body type and voice and he's the white eared car in my avatar.

I had never heard of a blue Tortie, but I can see she's just a different version of a muted Calico. I've never seen one myself (Tortie), but I have a muted Calico named Chloe. I also love all cats, but I have favorites that immediately attract me to them. I love black cats or tuxedos, Siamese and all white (especially if they have an oriental physique). I'm not as fond of orange tabbies, long-hairs or flat-faced cats. They just don't appeal to me on a personal level like the others do.

Awwww! I would love any cat I had, but I'm definitely drawn to the short-hairs that are black, tuxedo, Siamese or white. I also love Torties that are perfect harlequins with the undercoat being all black.

Like you, I like all cats, but I'm a little partial to long haired, white Persians. Are all Persians long haired? I've never had one. I might change my mind if I did. When our children were small, we had all colors and patterns of cats but they were mostly outdoor cats. They came in for Playtime then went back outside. None of them lasted long until we started keeping them indoors. Since then, we've had an all black , a medium hair torte, a red tabby with white u undersides and a gray tabby with white bellĀ„ and feet. Each of them lived from six to sixteen years.

Yes, all Persians are long haired. there's a breed called Exotic Shorthairs that have that Persian head and body shape, but with short hair. I don't like the "smushed" face of Persians, when I was a kid, they had more normal faces.

I have owned many different cats, of different breeds and colours. As far as the prettiest cats I have a thing for the jet black Bombays I think they are stunning! But to own one I will never again go past the tabby cat. I have owner two in my life both females and I find they are just the best cats to own, and the do have the most beautiful eyes. Everyone is different and just because we think one is prettier then the other doesnt mean that the pretty one will make a better pet for that person!

I agree, Bombays are beautiful, but I will rescue whatever cat, even cats that I don't think are pretty - I personally really don't care for Persian cats, but if I see one that needs rescuing, I'll do it.

I love siamese cats, when i was a kid i loved cats i wanted one so much and my dad was allergic to them but, it turned out i could have a siamese becuase they didnt have the dandiff like some cats because it was short haired anyway. I loved that cat he was so friendly you could carry him around he would sit with you and watch tv. I dont see why some people have cats and the cat doesnt let you even hold it what fun would that be. I am glad i had a pretty fun cat.

Ya know, I have LOT of cats and I'm just as happy that I have a few that don't want anything to do with me! I will grant that if none of them wanted anything to do with me, that might be different - but I have plenty who want my undivided attention...

Are you talking like the "blue" cats, because both of the ones I had were NASTY to the other cats. I love the Siamese personality, so even if they don't look Siamese I'll end up loving them because they have such major personalities.

hi elicbxn I like black cats and Siamese but L love some 'other colors too so I guess I am sort of fickle. my son had for a while a male cat that was tortoisesherll and he loved that cat, It would sit on his lap while he was typing in his laptop. but the landlord make him give the cat away and h e felt so bad, it really hurt him as he did not know if they'would find a home for Mr. Cat or just euthanize the poor cat.

I'll say that I have one of this color cat even if I don't think its that pretty a color - Heck, I rescued a Persian and I hate their smashed in faces, but they's still a cat, and I can't put it out, even if I don't care for their looks.

that is a nice looking cat but i do agree that it isn't the prettiest. i could remember when i stayed in one inn during my travels the owner has 6 cats of all different kinds! one is soooooooooooo fluffy and is black in color, one is soo skinny i think it look like one of those egyptian cats in the ancient times, then one also is like the chesire cat in Alice in Wonderland!

I really don't have a favorite, I like them all. The ones I like the least are the blond ones with stripes. I don't really know what they are called. I had a calico and I thought she was one of the prettiest I had ever had, so if I had to pick a favorite I guess that would be it.

I like black cats best. I guess that we, people are so different, and each of us likes different things. It is so amazing how different we are! For instance, one could never understand how others would eat a certain food, or listen to a particular genre of music. I guess that is what makes the world so beautiful: the diversity.
