This Query only goes out to Metro Manila residents.
Reading is one of my fave hobbies. Especially if it's about folklore and supernatural stories. I've been fascinated by such genre of books for just about a few years back, that was 2010 I think when I bought 'The haunted Homeland' by Michael Norman and one by Sean O'Faolain which contained magnificent short stories, I bought 'em at SM South in Las Pinas on a 'Pick A Book' section for only 90 and 5 pesos, respectively- cheap huh?
But last week I went to SM Calamba in Laguna where it's the nearest SM here in Cabuyao and was disgusted to find out that they don't have such section.
Do you have any idea on where I can find such books aside National Bookstore? If you know one in Manila please share it to me, and some other time I'd definitely look for it.

Ah we have the same interest.
Try to go to garage sales. They always have those stuff-old books, magazines, comics, etc. If you happen to drop by Baguio, buy a newspaper, The Midland Courier, and check for garage sales. The latest newspaper has 3 posted garage sales around the city.
If you have gone to Calamba, you're almost near Los Banos! Have you heard of the "Thrift shop"? I saw this vintage shop by accident. It was full of old books and everything a bookworm loves! It's where I saw a volume of 18th century encyclopedia. You can see very old comic series there, magazines, novels (2nd floor) and a lot of used furnitures (1st floor.
The prices ranges from Php5-Php80.
I stayed there from 2005-2008 and that shop has been my haven. It's very quiet and everytime I go there, it seems I'm the only customer they have.
I don't know if it still exists but I believe it does.
And here, if you love folklore, look for Dr. Juan Flavier's Stories of the Barrio! There are 3 books he wrote and they're full of stories about the countryside.
Try these..

Hi isohyeoh!
I'm so glad to read this.Thank you very much. Really? I'd be very much willing to go in that "Thrift Shop". But, is it really still there nowadays? I'm planning to go there tomorrow. I've asked a friend here in Cabuyao and he said that the ride will just take an hour or so if you're coming from Calamba Crossing. I happened to pass by Los Banos many times before but never had the chance to get off on that ground so now perhaps is the right time.

You could try checking out the Booksale branches in SM malls and elsewhere. They have a wide range of collection of books under different genres. You may just find some from the kind you are looking for. Not only that, but the prices are very much affordable, as seen in the name of the store itself.
You may also try to see this library in Makati, known as The Reading Club 2000. You could go there and browse their collections, and borrow for FREE. And not to return it anymore if you want to. This mini library can be found along Balagtas St., near the Pablo Ocampo station of PNR. :) Enjoy!

I don't know about Manila because I have never been there, but I know that in the US we have Barnes & Noble's around here, used bookstores, and libraries and you can usually find folklore books at those places, but I would also recommending just going online if you have a credit card to get the books that you want.
I read just about anything and everything.

Have you tried buying books in booksale? its cheap and you have a lot of options to choose from. these are 2nd hand book as far as I know, but i don't really care if its second hand. the content is more important. I hope it helped.
