Is college education very important to your future?

When i was in high school, my parents pressed my much to study hard to get into a good college. After i graduated from college, i found many success men are colleage gropout. And also, i found the new man graduated from college can't bear the responsibility of a job and their college education didn't even give any help to their ability of work. It seems social experience is more important than college experience. My question, if there is a chance can go again, will you establish a business as a dropout or still complete your full college education? How do you think about this problem?

You are right. I'm jealous too when dropouts show more success than graduate like me. I finished college but still got no permanent job. while my friend who give up school now owns a boutique. how can the world be so cruel? people say you get what you deserve after much hard work and sacrifice. i'm very tempted about the idea of having chance to turn time again and pick the other choice of running business, but we know that is just a dream of ideal world. Real is here.

I think a college or university education is very important, in some countries more than others. Years and years ago kids used to finish High School and go out and get a job. Then years ago they would go to college to learn a trade and get a job. A chosen few went to university. Now everybody goes to some kind of post-secondary institution of education, whether it be college or university (in Canada we have both). Competition for jobs is very fierce and sometimes the employer doesn't even care what your university degree is in, only that you have one. However, having said that,I am also one of those people who believe that you go to school to get an education, not a job. (although it certainly helps in the job search!)

College is not that important to me. I won't even pressure my son about it when he graduation from high school. I think Telling people about who God is and what the future brings is more important than college. Ever thing in this world including college is temporary anyway. It says so in the bible the things in this world are temporary.

Here today the university degree seems to be common. The competition is still so serious. So everybody wants to have a higher degree so that it will be easier to find a good job. So a college education is important. Even if you can't get the profit in a short time, but in a long time it seems it is still a must. I love China

This will depend on what you believe a college education function or purpose to be. Is it to increase your intelligence? Or is it to groom your character and build something in you? For me, i believe that the intelligence part is only minor in nature and the latter is the important thing you should take away from college. In this sense, college education importance for your future does not seem that VERY important anymore since character building and experience from society can be learnt outside school too. Even without college education, you can still get it from many other areas and the future actually depend more on them than knowledge which you can gain along the way. Maybe this is why the records of many great men show no link to their education level.

given the chance i would like to finish my college but it would not be a course of a professional with a high paying job, what i like to finish is a degree on business management to become a successful businessman and eventually my ultimate goal of becoming an investor, my dream is to make my money work for me rather than working for my money....

I can proudly say, as of this month, that I have graduated from college and I have received my Bachelor of the Arts Degree in English Literature and Language from Cal Poly Pomona, and that I am glad that I did it even though it is hard to find a job right now. I am glad that I received my degree and that I worked hard for it. Don't give up on college. I know that it is hard, and it took me several years to get through college because my brother passed away on me, I got lost in the system for awhile, and I had several health issues... I had quite a few setbacks, but I did it, and I can also say that I did complete my first quarter of Grad School as well. Again, I am not giving up. If you want it, and you can do it, then go for it. Get that degree. You will not regret it. I could have given up. I could have dropped out, and the people around me know this, and there were times where I wanted to, but I kept going. Yes, I am 27, and yes, I did just receive my degree, but I don't regret it. I was told that I would never get my degree and that I would never graduate, and I proved everyone wrong.

I think that college education can be important, but it depends on the type of person that you are, and what you would do with your life if you chose not to go to college. I have a lot of friends who just chose to go to college to have a good time rather than thinking about their future, and they didn't get very good grades because of this, so this is something that wouldn't be worth it. If you work hard, then you will be able to get a qualification that you can be proud of, and that will help you to do things with your own life.

Well we cannot deny that there are great men of today who are dropouts, who have not finished colleged but pursued their passion but then again these men are few.. unless you are already equipped with the right brain, right amount of money, then you can succeed.. but practicality speaking and i also could see that college education and higher than that is also important given the right attitude and confidence you will really succeed... unless you are smart to go into business and hit the market quite well then you will also succeed.

If you have the money to smart your business and can run for it, fine you cannot have your college. You are right, there are many businessmen that did not finished their college and still successful in their field. On the other hand, if you are planning to work, you must still finish your college for better competition in the employment market.

For me, it is still important to take up college education because there things to be learned more. But, in choosing the right course it should be chosen from your own decision not by your parents or your friends because if you don't like your course what your parents chose for you, you will not be able to finished it because your interest is not in it. Like me, i graduated as a nurse but i can't find a job related to my course because i'm not a registered nurse but i didn't give up. I tried working as a part time english tutor and a private duty nurse. The things i learned from my college can be used from the jobs i've been working. Having college education is an oppurtunity and a great thing happen to me.Hope my point of view help.

yeah it is really very very important to ones future in china. because if you don't have a colleage degree , the job you can do will just be the lower kind job and earn so little maney that you cannot surpport your family. on the other hand, maybe some new man graduated from college can't find a ideal job either. but at least, they have a chance to fight for their life cause the society will open a door for them . the college degree is a key to sucess.

It still depends on the nature of your dreams and expertise. When you really want to win the world within the scope of Accountancy, Medicine, Engineering, Armed Forces, Law and the likes (with required level of competence and licensure examination), you really have to pursue college education. You're right, in business we can afford to make our lives better, hwever in the our current economic conditions, it is rare to be successful here if you didn't acquire the sufficient knowledge to run it. If you're parents are rich, you can drop yourself out from school and start your pretty big business :) in short, we can have a better odds of success if we pursue college education and acquire competence because businesses are still run by professionals. .
