I always get pressured whenever I think about school. College life is just so different from High school life because I should take up everything seriously since this is where my future depends. But I really find it hard to manage my time in studying. I feel like I failed my today's quiz in my Filipino subject since I focused myself in studying Accountancy. I never even gave extra time to study my other subjects because I am afraid I would fail my accounting subject. And I would really die if ever that would happe, I wish not!!! Can you give me advise on how would I properly manage my time. I really look stressed now even it was just the 4th week of class

My daughter is in college too taking up Law. She was also like you. She was up until four in the morning because of review and she will wake up six in the morning to go to school. I don`t know how she can handle it. My wife and i are worried too but she seems alright. She is still happy, but very serious that you can`t even talk to her or touch her when she is reviewing. Time management depends on us. There are people who review in the morning and sleeps early at night. There are also people like my daughter who is up until she finish what she is studying. All i can say is that you need to focus on your major subjects more. You must only scan or read your notes when it comes to minor subjects. I hope what i have shared helps you

she is truly an amazing person, your daughter... not much people can be as tough as that in study habits. Yeah, so, it's been like a year and a half since I last checked my account here and i'm now a third year accountancy student, yet, still a long way to go huh. It feels like I'm getting used to it now, being far from home.

I can definitely agree with you that college life can be pretty hard at times but if you're not working with college than it really shouldn't be that hard. I've been going to college full time while working as well and there was a period in time where I was working three jobs and going to school at the same time. Pretty much it all boils down to hard work and dedication. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to be able to go places in the future. I haven't had much time to do anything that I really enjoy recently but I know that I will be graduating soon enough. That's pretty much what you have to focus on, the end prize of your hard work. Just settle into a rhythm or a schedule where you have time set a side that is specifically dedicated towards studying and homework and you should start to settle into the college life. Good luck and don't give up!

Wow! you are a really great example that I picture now.. since this comment of yours is like 2 years old, I guess, no, I believe you finished your degree. Sacrifices always come with rewards.

Of course, college life is difficult. But a professional life is much worse...at least that's what my parents and grand-parents say. Better enjoy your student life more, soon enough you'll enter the hellish life of employees if you wouldn't do something about it while still young... Accountancy is simple, that I can tell you much, so long as you understand the basics like your basic math, know the difference between assets, liabilities and equity and some other things like knowing where to put what. Don't worry so much about your quiz score. It's still too early to feel depressed and discouraged. Because you'll face a lot more harder situations later. Bend now and you really won't survive.

it sounds like you have learnt accountancy. Do you think accountancy is not that hard? But why is it that whenever someone would describe accountancy esp. Financial accounting, there is always a word of difficulty.

I am an IT student that's why I have some background on financial accounting. It's only difficult at first but I learned to appreciate it when we came to the point where we get to create an Income Statement and Statement of Assets and Liabilities. The only difficulty you get in this subject is if you don't know what is what and where to put it or else there is no equity on your calculations in your entries, there's also the part where creating journals and ledgers manually is a pain else it's pretty fun and simple. I don't think accounting is hard. This is the first step to making the subject simple. If from the very first you think the subject is hard, it'll become harder in the later part. Teachers will always describe the subject difficult is because it involves math and logic (which is challenging for most student but the math here merely involves the MDAS). Think those two things (logic and math) is simple to do--I mean really believe you can do it--you'll find yourself being able to do it better than thinking it's difficult.

Yeah... I should always think positive against my subject so I could pass it and learn to love it. I always believe that when others can do, why not me? Of course, I'll do it if it's for the best. Accounting, I think is enjoying. The most tiring part only is I have to read tons of books and buy these at high cost for latest editions are required in most Universities. That's my big problem.

I just get out of College life, i swear i won't go back to school anymore...because studying is very boring and tiring. I was a full time student and i had to work for my advisor to get money for my living expenses. Grrr...i really don't want to remember that time ...whole day in lab or go to class and then lab working from 9 am to 11 pm. I was stress with it and pimples on my face could not be gone...However it is pass and i am happy with it now... I think you just take your time and think what you do first, what you do next....don't push yourself too hard or get stress because of it. When you are stress, you can't do anything... Failed in the exam, it is not big problem..just forget it and focus on another... I wish you all the best!!!

Thank you. I promise to never get stressed. After 5 years of difficulties and hard time, I know that there will be something good in exchange for this one.

I am sorry but a long answer has just been gone in to the thin air due to run time error. Now I do not remember much but to wish you all the best and tell you that you guys are far better off than what we went through in our college time.

Hi, The biggest difference between highschool and college is imdependence. With that independence you have to learn to manage your time very well. If you just finished your first year of college than it makes sense that it was stressful but trust me it does get better. My freshman year was really tough but now I'm making the deans list very semester. I really think it takes some gettin use to the structure of your schedule and the way classes are run. I would recommend becoming best friends with your syllabus of every class. that is why they give it to you on the first day so that there aren't any suprises. Stay ahead on your syllabus instead of staying behind or doin everything the day off. there should never be a day when u say I don't have any work to do because here's always something u need to do in college. I personally dont use a planner but if that works for you try it out. I also think you should be mindful of the resources that re at your school and on the Internet. You are paying money for places and tools that you probably don't even use such as tutoring place or something. If you dont understand the topics in class review them on the Internet by watching a you tube video or reading a better description or example. Dont depend on your Professor to be able to make sure that every student in your class is proficient in the material because it's your responsibility to contact them or find additional help if y

It is true that it can get very busy and difficult, and there will be many times when you will feel that 24 hour a day is simply not enough. You have to relax and take a deep breath, and then you have to become more organized. I had moments when I felt like going crazy because of the amount of projects, books of hundreds of pages and stuff like that. For me it was pretty easy to be in the university because I study something that I really love. It is important to love your job and your studies. Do everything you can to calm down, and then you will see that your mind will become clearer. As long as your brain will be under the effect of the stress, everything will seem harder then it actually is. If you have closer friends in college try and talk to them about time management.
