Before I learned about the turmeric's full benefit, I only knew it as a being used to color food.
This morning my friend came looking for a Turmeric rhizome. She's going to use it to treat her thigh boil because she saw a neighbor's chest boil pop out after applying turmeric!
I searched the net and I found out it's a very good antioxidant, anticancer, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, etc. I boiled some and drank it and wow-I found the best tea for me. I don't know if you agree but try it! It has this aftertaste that is soothing and mild and I don't know how to describe it. The after taste is like an unsalted pork soup (ordinary pork soup in my town.
What's your best tea like?

I also have turmeric style tea but what I have is I warm it up with milk and then put cardamom powder in it as well. I use this medicated milk to take my supplements with because that is what my ayurvedic doctor recommended me to do. I really enjoy this and my favorite concoction that I have made with warm milk and spices are turmeric, ginger, cardamom, vanilla bean, saffron, chyawanprash, and that's about it. It makes me feel really good and I think my doctor recommended me to take my supplements with it so they would break down and be absorbed better.

When it comes to spices, turmeric is the best in the world. It has so many qualities. We use it a lot in India, not just in food, but for treating injuries, treating a cough, applying as a face/body mask, etc.
Turmeric is used to treat wounds, by mixing it with hot water and applying the thick paste while still hot to the affected area. It can also be used on wounds that have turned septic. In fact, it is a traditional homemade malady for wounds and we prefer that more than any medical cream or ointment. Turmeric is our ointment.
Mix a little turmeric powder in a glass of sweet milk [or you can have salt in the milk too] and you have the perfect remedy for a sore throat or a cough. It may sound weird to put salt in milk, but people do it. I personally don't have the stomach to try it, so I use sweetened milk and turmeric. I have a sort of allergy when it comes to coughing. I get a cough every winter, almost, and it lasts for approximately two months [yes, that long]. Its probably because I don't treat it as soon as I spot it, but I have to do everything I can to avoid that. Sweet milk with turmeric every night before I sleep helped me cure my cough fast enough, within a week.
Also when I feel a cold coming, and my throat becomes sore, I just drink warm water with salt and turmeric in it. Best for it.
Mix turmeric with a little rose water and fat from the milk, and you have the perfect face-pack. But I use a little gram flour and very little turmeric, mix it with milk to make a paste. It gives your skin a golden glow. Although, don't use too much turmeric and do not keep the pack on for more than 10-15 minutes, or you will look yellow.
Brides in India go through a tradition of applying turmeric paste all over their bodies before marriage, so they can be fair and golden on their wedding.

My community powders turmeric and sells it to the big city. They use it for dyes, food coloring, treating skin diseases. Now, they must know it's better for it to be ingested! It won't only do good for the skin but for the whole body!
