I always made sure that all windows are close and locked before going to sleep because I am living in the city and I dont want to compromised my safety. Most of the night I stayed alone her in our unit and I am little bit scared if I let my window open during the night. Also I feel secured inside my unit if all windows and door are locked.

I feel a great codifence and courage when i have my parents or my relatives with me. They are the sources of energy and i have the courage from them to face the troubles. I think you can have your friends or some one in your unit. So that you need not to worry much.

I lived with my husband but he worked during the night. My parents lived here with us before but when my sister decided to stayed in the province they decided to accompany her. We have security guards downstairs but having my doors and windows looked make me feel more secure.

Yeah even during my sleep i make it a point to close all the windows properly and then sleep. This has come in light of many crimes happening frequently in our locality.

I wonder why the people are doing crimes to loot the things. If you feel your home town is not safe then you must be very careful at all the time especially at late nights. Darkness is the place where the danger is hidden. So be very and lead your life. May god bless you and help you with all you need.

No,I don't close all windows because all windows are secured will iron grills.
And I don't have to worry with insects either because I have screen windows and screen door aside from the main windows and main doors.
So,I can open my windows anytime of the day and night

If you have alarms fixed in your house you doesn't need to get worried much because the alarms will give the alarms if any one enter to the doors. I love to fix such alarms in my home but it is little expensive.
Did the alarms helped you in the late nights?

If i don't close all windowl and doors, mosquitoes will enter.I don't want mosquito bites.Only thing I hate more than mosquito bite is the smell of Good night.Once i unknowingly smelled that thing and collapsed. For a week i had a bad feeling in my gut.SO there is no choice for me,i have to close all windows. It is also very cold at night.
Also,i fear ghosts.i know that they can go through walls, but i don't want to make it any easy for them.
I also fear thieves, they can also go through walls, and doors but it takes more effort. They cause more collateral damage than ghosts.

Bites of the mosquitoes is the one of the major problem faced during the late night. They are the ones which makes us to get up from my sleep. Now a days it is very impossible to sleep my night without closing the windows because it is the path where all the creatures like mosquitoes enter.
So, how do you control them? Do you make use of any good night mats or mosquitoes spray?

No I sometimes use the liquid type, which you have to plug in.But if you have small children in your home, its not advisable to use mats, they may swallow it.

Hi friend, you are really crazy. I don't give more importance to this kind of things. But our window is always closed, as we use our AC throughout the day and night, so we closed our windows forever.

Closing window at all the time is quite impossible for me because i lover to have fresh air. Closing the windows at all the time blocks the air supply.
You don't to worry much about the window because you have an ac at your home and you don't need to open them at all. I also love to fix ac inside my house but my i can't pay the bills for it.

Living in the country we do not worry to much about strangers coming in through the windows, if they did the first thing they would meet would be Sadie Hound dog, and she would not be happy to see them. But I don't like the spiders and other bugs that crawl in thinking of taking up residence in our home. So I spray for them and then enjoy my wide open windows.

Dogs is a great idea. Really they works as like as a security guard as well as, as a alarm. I think keeping a dog in the house is very good and this pet can get away those stranger away from us.
Did your dog helped you to catch a thief ?
If you have a good experience with your dog them please share it.

I don't mind having open windows during the day. A cool gentle breeze blowing through the house can beso refreshing. at night is a different story for me. I watch too many scary movies to feel comfortable with open windows at night. Every little noise would have me thinking that something or omeone was in my house. I like to feel safe when i go to sleep.

I always used to keep my mobile phones near my hands. So that i can get any one of my neighbours or my relatives if i have any spelling mistake inside my house.
Where do you keep your cell phones? Don't you make use of it if there is something wrong inside your house?

Well, for starters you advise that I dwell in the 4th floor, so it's unlikely the thieves climbing to those heights!
Secondly, I now that we are in summer, so it's hot, it is certain that I sleep with the window open. With this though I will not hide the fact that if I had an apartment on the ground floor, well, definitely a little worried that someone might break into my house, I would be.

Most of the apartments have a security guard for verifying the safety of it. Here in kerala most of the flats own atleast one security guard. Don't you flat have a security guard?

No the window can be open I don't think anyone would want to try and get into our windows, beside they would have to get past our huge pooch, with out waking her and having her call of the warning sounds that alert us to harm that may be coming our way

That is definitely one of the positives of having a dog is that it is much more difficult for someone to come to your house unannounced and not be noticed. Most of our puppies were large, so they were intimidating just because of their size. Having a large dog does not really matter, though, because even the smallest and most loving dog usually barks or goes to the door or does something to indicate when somebody is near the house, which would alert you, especially at night.

Hi wonderboy, yes I am a little leary about leaving my windows
open at night after dark..sometimes before I installed my AC
I would want my windows open but was afraid to leave them opened,
I have experienced a few times of people walking in back of the
building, and let me say they should not have been back there,
so I started closing my windows and locking them until my son
arrives home from work at night..
For as long as I lived here I use to leave my windows opened all
the time....

Closing only the windows will not help you to exit or stop the thieves entering into your house. Along with it you should make sure that you close and look all the doors propely.

YES,specially when I'm alone. I always worry and get scared that I might have left a window open in the night. Even just to hear a noise or scratching from outside the house, I'm a light sleeper so when I hear something strange I wake easily and it usually keeps me awake the whole night.

Yes, it feels awful for a scaredy cat like me (hehehe) even if my neighbours are my relatives. When I was in high school my parents and my siblings lived in a different place and I was left behind because the school year was not over yet and I was in the senior year. Sometimes I had to ask my cousins to sleep over, so I don't get too scared.

We live on the second floor of an apartment building, and our unit is separate from all the others, and has its own stairs. One set of windows is by the stairs, and are completely hidden from view. One day when those windows were left open and a guest was sleeping on our couch, a thief was able to steal our guest's bag by using a long stick to pick it up from across the room. We always locked the windows by the stairs since then. We have two other sets of windows but they're facing the street (and like what I said, we are on the second floor) so we keep them open even when we sleep.

I was surprisingly quite relaxed when we found out we have been robbed. We didn't get to see the thief and only discovered the theft that morning when the thief had probably long gone. I detest thieves who take away things we work hard for.

I did not ever see a thief face to face. I am worried to see such rude people and i always pray to god not to meet such rude and spoiled people in my life. I hope god will hear me.
So how did you react at the thief which came at your house?

I only think i can tell to you people is, never give an opportunity to the strangers to get inside us. They will loot all our things and make us poor. More over they are the ones who does not deserve any one from us. So never give a chance for them.

I sleep upstairs so I close all my first floor windows and lock them. I only leave the windows open upstairs that do no open up onto the roof. My theory has always been that someone can easily climb onto the porch roof and come in through the upstairs window. My neighbors thought I was nuts until someone in a nearby big city had someone climb onto the roof and get in their upstairs window and rob them at night. It always pays to think like a criminal and eliminate every way they could get in! The windows I leave open cannot be accessed except with a 20 foot ladder.

I think you are very alert and conscious about the security of your house. I think a thief or a stranger cannot such a long ladder to climb at the open window and get you. Anyway make sure that you close the other windows well and verify them before your sleep.

Probably not, unless the thief wants to scale up many levels of wall. I live on a high floor of the apartment, and all windows have grills.
If I leave the window open, it is only on rainy days I might expect the floor to be wet. Then again, no harm done.

If your flat lies from a certain good height from the floor them you need not to worry much about the strangers and from the thieves. Don't you feel little uncomfortable to live a certain good height from the ground? In do you deal with it?

I always close & lock the windows in the evening as same time when I turn on the light, and I will have to pulled down the curtains so I can notice it easily if I forgot to close or lock my windows. Yes sometime Im worried that thieves might come to my house especially when my parents are not at home, so many robbery everywhere and seems the police has done nothing to make this country free from criminal, I know it is impossible to be 100% free from criminals but it seems the number of crime is increasing everyday. Its like we are not safe anymore wherever we go. So we need to be more alert even in our home, we need to make sure we lock the doors and the windows at night or when we are going out.

I'll be moving next week and im thinking to buy CCTV camera but your suggestion to set up alarm is good. Unfortunatelly I cannot have dog, im afraid I cannot take care the dog since Im a busy person and for me a dog is not just to guard the house but it's human's friend so suppose if I have a dog I need to pay attention on my pet which Im afraid I cannot do it.

If you feel your place is not at all safe then make use of the latest technology. I mean the alarms. They will help you to understand whether there is any spelling mistakes inside your house. Pets like dog will also act as the same. They ensure a good safe house for you.
