because of being a silent worker, I didn't get what is due for me...

Good day Fellow Mylotters, Whenever I did a job and finished it, I seldom divulge it. As I don't want to be too proud of the task that I have made. That, I am lifting every bits to God to give me praises. That I prefer to work silently rather than voicing out what I have done. But, there is one situation arises that I cannot take. That, one of my previous colleague have claimed the compliments wherein I was the one who really did and exert the effort for the job that has been done. Although many of our co-workers knows the truth, but our big boss believes that she really does the main thing. What the big boss knows, I was only the assistant and she was the leader which is completely wrong. That, during those times, I have acted as the leader and she was my assistant. And because of being a silent worker, I didn't get what is due for me. As all the praises and compliments was being given to her. Thus, is it really a must to announce if you are doing a big thing. So that, in the end, everybody will be aware that you have done that job.

I think it is important to make sure you let the people you are working with know what you have done and how hard you have worked at it. It is not a bad thing to be proud of what you have worked hard to do and at work you need your coworkers and your boss to give you praises! Also if you want to keep your job you must share what you are working on with your boss. It sounds like you are not really happy not divulging what you do? It is better to let people know than to let other people take credit, this can lead to jealousy and bad relations with your coworkers, especially if they take credit, it could easily lead to being angry.

I second that motion because I can see the tension jus by reading the post. I actually pictured a scene as i read it with her friend laughing and smiling as the boss gives her a promotion on the spot for her accomplishment and you wanting to jump over the table in disgust. That was a little vulger, but you get the picture. Yeah, in an environment like that, you will grow to really not like that person. Even if your not a spotlight person, you can still be a silent star. When it is time for promotions and things of that sort, if your signature isnt on top the list of accomplishment, what do you think will happen.

I used to be a silent worker and don't tell the this that I have done and accomplished. But if that happened me, I probably stood up, tell my boss and don't let that person claim the credit that I have worked hard. We should not let people do that to us cause they might keep doing it all the time if we let them.We should be brave enough to claim things that we know that belongs to us and really for us.

It's hard to let those over you know how much and how hard you work without sounding like a braggart. I've run into this problem, too. I do contract work and moved from one segment of the company to another, letting a coworker take over what I had been doing. The problem is that I'm still doing part of what I started out and now she gets the gratitude of the boss. It's frustrating, but sometimes you just have to put up with it.

yes it's very frustrating that someone else gets the credit for the work you've done. but like you said, lift every bit to God to give you praises. God sees everything and He'll handle it according. just keep doing the work you do, keep praising God, and you'll see a difference. :)

You don't need to announce it just do your job well and everything will flow according to what is right. Time will come your boss will know the truth. In my case, I used to handle people under me but I never claimed credits that are not for me and even if it's really for me I don't get all the credits, that's for the sake of our team. I always tell my boss that it's the work of the whole team (although I know fully well that I made a great work and strategy for it) and not just my idea alone but still my boss has a stubborn head to think that I am great and have done a great contribution to the company. See, I didn't claim anything but I got the respect and credits from my boss. Work silently and let your work performances speak how great you are..

Really good employers should notice your hard work without you having to light your workstation on fire to get noticed. I tend to get overlooked for a lot of the good things I do as an employee. I honestly think it has a lot to do with the fact that I work with companies that don't tend to notice. It hurts the company because the one's who tend to get noticed and get the promotions are the ones who cheat or are very loud about their supposed exploits. Sadly a lot of employers won't realize your value until after you leave. That's their loss.

Well, personally unless it means more $$ because she is taken the Job well done with them thinking she did it, personally I would not let it bother you too much. Maybe just next time not try and have her help you unless it is assigned like that. Overall people like this are usually only thinking of themselves and never wanting anyone else to accept any Praise and eventually will catch up to her. Just brush it off and move on as a Big lesson learned.

When you do or complete a job in extreme sincerity and entire satisfaction of the employer in question, why must you be hesitating to ask for the rewards that you rightly deserve? After all it is your right to get paid for whatever work you have done.
