Why do I bother?

I do not know why i even bother anymore with trying to find work. It is either I won't make enough, I will have to quit school or I just don't have the experience. I am truly starting to get really irritated by it all. I think we should go back to the bartering system! Ugh i hate job searching.

I totally agree. I worked in banking for 6 years & have a degree in banking. I got laid off right after coming back from maternity leave and looked for 6 months and finally decided to work in daycare. It was a crazy switch and a huge cut in pay but I figured it would help bring in some money while I continued to look for something else. It's been a little over a year and I'm still there. I have had 1 interview and it ended up being a door to door sales job disguised as a marketing job... no thanks!

I think with the choices you mention, the "It's either I won't make enough" is the best, since it is better than nothing. When I was in college, I worked part time at a fast food restaurant. Needless to say, I didn't make enough, and usually there was too much of the month at the end of the money instead of too much money at the ned of the month. But still, it was better than nothing. I called myself then the starving college student, which was fitting, because I usually didn't eat anything except the meal provided at the fast food restaurant when I was on my shift. Job searching can be really tough. Even my partner who's got year of experience has been jobless for two months now. He has decided to accept a job (he'll start in July) which will pay him much lower than what he's used to getting. He won't be making enough, but it's better than nothing.

I know the feeling. I have not been able to find work either. I have a Master's Degree in Education and am told that it is great that I have education, but I need experience. I am not sure how I can get experience if nobody gives me a chance. I am going to look into volunteering at a Preschool so I can get some experience. I know it can be frustrating, but just hang in there and you will find something soon. Please do not give up. Since you are in school have you tried looking for work on campus.

Haha I think you and my husband would get along great. He is having the same problem, just without the schooling issue. He would love for the world to go back to the barter system. I tell him it would be all good until he had to go more than a month without his online video games and then he would hate it. Right now we are living off of our savings since he was laid off almost 3 weeks ago. In my state they also take up to 6 weeks before they will approve his unemployment benefits. We are actually thinking about moving in with his mother, but that would me a 3,000 mile trip and selling off almost all of our stuff, since we cannot afford a moving company and can only take what we can fit in a u-haul trailer and my mini van. There is really no jobs for him since he is a corp trainer and I do medical records, but I don't have enough experience for the really good paying jobs.
