Any one else here trying to sell items on www.etsy.com?

I recently set up my shop on Etsy. I sell wood turned bowls, candleholders and other items. Currently my stuff is not getting a lot of attention there. If there are any other sellers from that site on Mylot I would really appreciate some input from the rest of you. My promotion budget is almost zero and because I work a full time job plus trying to make ends meet I really don't have a lot of time to pursue my sideline. Everytime I add a new item I get a brief surge of views. It dies out after a few days. I can get a few views but continually pestering my Facebook friends but I'd really like to do better. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

I would be interested in the responses this gets. I tried to sell a couple of things on Etsy before Christmas but didn't do well at all. I know you have to promote your things, but, like you, I didn't have much time to do it. Ideas on how to promote (although it does take time) is to join forums and groups about your craft and post your link there (if it's allowed), start a blog about the craft and post often to get a following (but I see you did that), post to Twitter as well as Facebook, use a link in your signature whenever you use email. I wish you luck and I hope someone else has some good ideas for you.

Another thing that might help is to use Paypal on your site for payment. It's very simple to set up and a lot of people use it.

If you don't have much time to promote it then what do you expect? I guess theirs no need to ask for help if you already know the answer right? I mean you know so well that in order to sell your product you need to promote it.

koopharper, this came in my email and I thought it might be interesting to you: http://creativeincomeblog.com/how-to-photograph-craft-projects-photography-guide-for-selling-your-arts-and-crafts-online/ bulastika, there's nothing wrong in asking for ideas for faster or better ways to promote things.

I have an Etsy store and sell about one item a month. I know it isn't mind blowing but I don't push sales on friends and family. I only want buyers who truly want my items. Here is my advice use Twitter, Pinterest, FB pages not your personal page, a traffic exchange I use easyhits4u and traffic swarm. I also have a blog where I share my items I make. There is also a ton of teams you can join on Etsy under community. They too are very helpful in getting your items seen.

Glad to here you are making some steady sales even if it seems modest. Your suggestions are appreciated. It will be nice to make it to the step you are at. Steady sales would make me quite happy even if it isn't big to start with.
