Piled up bills is not a good thing. But it's a situation where many people are in because of credit card usage. Impulsive buying can't be avoided especially when you always have a credit card with you.
But how can we really resist or learn how to use our credit cards?

Well, here's a new/old trick I'm using. I developed a bucket for credit cards. For example, I've opened a separate checking and savings account specifically for credit cards and contribute to it monthly. When the account is empty, I know I can't charge anything until the checking account has a positive balance. That way, you're actually saving for what you want and getting the thrill of using your credit card at the same time!

The best thing I could suggest is to place it somewhere in your home, not in your wallet or purse. It could be better to not have it on you at all, cause that means it will not be accessible when you have the urge to purchase something that you don't need.
That being said, some people like to have them around or accessible in case of emergency. I actually have a credit card that is a very low balance (less than $1,000). I use it for gas and groceries only, expenses that are already budgeted, and then pay it off every month with the money that is budgeted from my payroll. It makes it so that my card is paid off every month and I am not paying huge interest charges. You have to be disciplined. Carry some cash for impulse buys; if you don't have enough cash then you cannot afford what it is you are looking at purchasing. It is difficult but it can be done; it's a matter of will, regardless of what you want or your credit card.

This is such a great question. A credit card is not good for someone who is impulsive. I have had many credit cards in my life and they gave me so much grief. Yes, I used them, but if I used cash more, I would have been a better experience. Having credit cards led me to believe that by having more time (to pay) I would have more money. Well, I was wrong. Credit cards should be used wisely. It would be more responsible to use them in cases of emergency, and when you are traveling. I would suggest that you can even justify using one for an online purchase, but in this case, do so rarely. Credit cards are quite helpful in the case of protecting yourself from merchants you are not familiar with such as some online retailers, but to use one simply because you have it is not a good idea. Think before you get that credit card swiped. You could be putting your credit on the line and giving collectors a reason to call.

Well, I think that in order for us to learn to be responsible with our credit cards, we do have to make some mistakes with them first. For example, three years ago, my husband and I started with a debt management plan because of our credit card debt. We've been basically living without credit cards for the last three years. In knowing that you can only buy those things that you have the cash to buy has taught me to be a lot more responsible with our money and our credit cards.

The best thing to do is to think that whatever you spend using you credit cards is not for free but a debt you will have to pay in the future. That will help a lot to control your spending.
As much as possible, maintain only one credit card as there are also added costs for the annual fees plus if you have many credit cards the temptation to spend more is greater unlike if you only have one.
When credit card company call you to increase your credit limit or just automatically did it, contact them and let them set it in a credit limit which you think is reasonable and will not be a big temptation for you to spend more. I know it's weird for some people like to have higher credit limit but in my case I declined their offer to increase it. That is how I make myself responsible in using my credit card.

I have an aunt who actually freezes her credit cards. Yes, she really puts them in the freezer and since they take a while to thaw it helps her decide if she really wants to use them or not. Most of the time she does not use them. I have stopped using credit cards and use either my debt card or pay by cash. I think when I do get a credit card again I will use only for emergencies. I have some debts on my credit cards from the past so I am going to see if I can negotiate a settlement and have them list it as paid in full.

Well credit card is really easy and tempting to use but we really have to use it wisely and responsibly to maintain it and to be a good payer.
Used it according to your needs not to what you wants.Don't purchased too much to the extent that you cannot pay the monthly amortization.
Credit card are really useful in so many ways as long as it you are responsible enough using it.

Of course we can, it's all about discipline and responsibility. One has to be discipline in all of the things in his or her life or else things will get screwed up so bad, there's no way to turn around. Be responsible. Responsible to ownself, don't pile up those bills.
First one need to know if credit card is really important. Is it a must? If no, then take out the scissors and you know what to do.
There's also the credit card little brother, the debit card. It is a card where you put a certain amount of money in it. For example, you arrange your monthly budget for petrol of around 400 dollar. So just put in 500, 400 for petrol and 100 for any emergency situation that needs the debit card. Once the money is all used, you won't be able to use the card anymore unless you refill it so make it a habit to refill only after salary day.

cut all the credit cards!! haha..just joking!
For me all my credit cards are link to certain company or brand promo/bonus. For example, if i buy grocery, i'll use a card which is link to the grocery shop where they actually rebate certain percentage from my purchase. With the rebate i can use it for my next purchase.
And i make it a point to pay full amount when the credit card bill is here.
Most importantly i keep track of all my credit card purchases in a book, so i'll know how much i have spend.
Be wise in spending future money.
