Disappointed with my star.

Yesterday I managed to get to my 100th post here, which seems like a milestone for a lot of new users. I was excited to see what number I would get, but then it turns out to be a 5. I felt kind of down..
I thought I was posting concise, useful and constructive posts which actually had impact and usefulness on the topic at hand. So now U'm a bit confused.
I know people out there have 9's and 10's, and I sure hope I can make it there one day.
I'm sure there are other members who would love to raise their star number, right? :)

i think it has an impact to our earnings. When you'll go in the FAQs page, look for the ratings like that and it implies your quality posts in mylot. And we all know that mylot is paying us because of quality responses. Your rating depends on how the users rate your responses as positive or negative. I just don't know if this is the only thing that mylot is using to base our earnings.

This is a good discussion. I'm new here, and I don't get the hang of how we earn money here yet. So this means that our earnings are based upon our star rating? I guess I should begin working on getting some "best responses" and some positive ratings in discussions.

i thought so, but that was not directly stated in the FAQs page concerning Discussion Rating System. I just concluded that because these ratings are implying how other users see your comments as positive or negative. And hhere on mylot the quality of comments is the basis of our earnings. So they are encouraging us to use the positive and negative signs right after each comment and discussions.

It is much better to start with a low star which can go up
than with a high star that can only go down

You have only just joined therefore you cannot know the story of my star.
Unfortunately some Lotters mis-use the ratings system. Mine went down from red to silver some years ago and then went up to yellow and stayed there for years. It slowly moved up and only recently did it become blue.
The ratings are based on percentages. When you have a low user activity rating it is easier for the star to move in either direction. When that number is higher it moves slower up or down.

Now that is a very good point :)
At the moment, my star has increased by 2 points since starting this discussion. Overall, the people with the higher points tend to be the most respectable and knowledgable, such as yourself :)
Having read some of your comments from other people in this discussion, I feel confident that I can raise my number, so thank you :)

I felt just like you before because the earnings here at myLot is really very slow but you must have patience to stand still and write more discussions.Many members here I know have made there names with good points because they too have proven that patience is the only key to fulfill your dream to go up and earn more.

Mylot is not only a place to express yourself, but it is also a system. Don't get down about things you cannot control. Just do your best and understand you are not in school. The ratings may be an indication to you of how well of a mylotter you are, but I think it is about more. I know what I try to do when I mylot, and it involves relaxing and having fun mainly. It sounds like you are one that likes having approval. Well, I approve of your heartfelt discussions. Welcome to the mylot community and enjoy yourself.

Well, I do not know the exact method was the number on the star, increases or decreases. I do not know if it is due to an evaluation of the same site Mylot, or is given by a factor inherent in the judgment of those who read and maybe vote for us in a positive or negative way.
The only thing I can tell you is that I have come to the "red star" level 9 after a lot of work on site.
I'm sure you can easily do the same thing too.

welcome to mylot. I also had 5 when I crossed 100 posts. It slowly improved step by step and probably when I reached 1000 or so it came to 10. Our friends will mark for our upgrade.
Only a few people who join as a team with a few friends are able to make it to 8 or 9 when they reach 100. Do not bother. Be posting more and more. you will reach greater heights soon.

Don't need to be Disappointed with your star. You just focus on posting a good topics and discussions. Honestly i don't care much about star..till someone told me about the meaning of stars. And i remember it is 10 for long time already even though my goal is not 10's, my goal is i can post more interesting topics and discussions every day only.

Hi carben44, before I got insecured too to those people out there have 9's and 10's but I did all my best to achieve it. I know that you can make it too, I saw youre star you already have 7. Just keep on posting and participate more sooner you will get your 10's too. Goodluck.

Carben44,congrats!!A "5 star" is better than a "2 star" or a "3 star".
I will be curious about what my star is going to be.I know its going to be bad this time.Its no big deal,I will be OK,it will not dent my determination,anyway.I know,one thing..If I spent more time here,I will improve.Theres no running away from school this time!

i'm also disappointed with my star. I got 5.. And to know that it really affects our earnings here coz the mylot reputation(star) is based on the positive or negative ratings given by other mylotters (through the negative and positive sign below each comment).
